Discussion πŸ’¬ What are your favorite quality mobile games? Here’s my top 10

Post image
777 Upvotes

Whether paid or free, I don't care. I want you to tell me your favorite quality games to play on mobile. Here's my top 10:

  1. Slay the Spire: Absolute bliss when you're chilling on the sofa with a coffee, a YouTube video playing in the background, and playing a run. Incredible game and my personal GOAT. Don't even ask how many hours I've put into it.
  2. Balatro: Addictive and brilliantly designed. It has nothing to do with gambling or betting, it's simply a roguelike inspired by poker. My girlfriend got really hooked on it.
  3. Minecraft: Perfect for long trips, the time just flies by. What else can I say? It's fucking Minecraft.
  4. Stardew Valley: I'm playing it for the second time and the late game is incredible. You can play it cozy, although I prefer to tryhard.
  5. Hearthstone: The Adventure mode is awesome. It's basically a deckbuilder with tons of possibilities and really cool cards inspired by the Warcraft universe. The rest of the game modes are kinda meh, except for Battlegrounds.
  6. Data Wing: Short and relatively unknown game. The gameplay is pretty cool, but the story and the concept are what really won me over.
  7. Subnautica: I definitely prefer playing it on a big screen with a controller, but the mobile version isn't bad at all.
  8. Dredge: Beautiful yet creepy and Lovecraftian.
  9. Loop Hero: A roguelike that doesn't exactly grab you visually, but you slowly get more and more hooked on it.
  10. Baba Is You / Black: Two pretty clever puzzle games. Black has an awesome soundtrack.

Other cool games I've tried that didn't quite make the top 10: Brotato, Wildfrost, Dungeon Crawler, Clover Pit, Luck be a Landlord, Scritchy Scratchy.

Looking forward to your recommendations, I've got a lot of August ahead of me. Feel free to ask me anything about any of these games.

Discussion πŸ’¬ Recommending (the best imo) <700mb Games (Mostly Offline, easy to play)

Hey all. Because people are always asking in the reddit, I am recommending some games, with why's next to it. All of these are good and can work on most phones. Sometimes even potatoes of potatoes. I will mention it with *, where * means almost all phones and ** means potatoes (maybe nokia?? jk). Be warned it may not with a (!), depending on game state, etc.

Even if you know a lot of mobile games there are some gem alerts down here!

BTW: all of these games are tops of the tops, so pick a few play them, and then continue yknow? Don't get burnout playing them, or download then delete them! Too many hoarders on this dawgarn reddit. Games are breaks. Use them as such.

Another reason I do this is because all of these big snapdragon whatever phones keep getting more and more games/ emulation/ heck even steam games and us little guys don't sometimes feel like we don't have too much to eat. Thus I recommend these. These games rock no matter the console, are small, lightweight and play fantastically. Little guys, you do have things to eat. Be grateful, android gaming rocks.

+ All games recommended are less than 700mb, which is my benchmark for a small game.

  • PS. All of these are the best of the best, so I recommend trying all of them!
  1. Balatro - I will not explain. Watch markiplier or better yet go to r/okbuddyjimbo you will see. link * (!Late runs get really hot even on beefiest cpus!!)
  2. Clover Pit - Fun game, getting better. Spin devil slots to get money. A bit of lore? Use weird lucky charms to ward off the devil, or get rich click. Pee in a toilet. link *
  3. Scritchy Scratchy - Recently ported steam game roguelite to mobile. Costs 5 bucks. Scratch tickets. Another degenerate game that rocks. link *(!)
  4. Exiled kingdoms - timeless recommendation. diablo rpg that plays like something released on the DS or something. insane game with hours of content, and replayibility. lonk **
  5. Shattered pixel dungeon - run through hard dungeon. even speedrunners die. Lots of fun interactions, like bushes, corners, weird equipment, and fun synergies. linker **
  6. Dungeon Clawler - link cool roguelite game as well. I got into less, but it is no different of a beast. Use claw to get weapons. Get weird synergies. *
  7. Slice and Dice - turn based roguelite with tons of modes, people, dice and synergy. A dicey oldschool-y slay the spire if you will (kinda) link **
  8. One Bit Dungeon - f2p game were you go up your phone, fight bosses... kinda like a runner but dungeon-y lnik **
  9. Rogue Adventure - card game like sts, however a bit different as well. can get addictive link **
  10. Rush Rally 3 - feels really nice racing game. lots of dlc, but you don't have to get it. link *
  11. Stardew Valley - rpg but, awww farming sim which makes you go zzz but then yeah, serotonin... link
  12. ScourgeBringer - fight game thats fun and cool lookin. Can someone else explain this better? Really fun. link *
  13. Cultist Simulator - card game where conspiracies happen, tons of fun synergies again. My favorite shattered pixel dungeon youtuber (cake something) started playing this a while ago. link
  14. Siralim Ult. - Monster game with too many monsters, moves + synergies. lin **(!)
  15. Vampire Survivors - link survive waves, get powerups. fun simple and classic *
  16. Data Wing - free 2d racer with stunning graphics. link *
  17. Flappy Dragon - flappy bird but dragon and really fun. Collect dragons, hatch them, travel places yeah link *
  18. Hungry hearts diner - make food for people and learn some faces. Put some kindness in your life link **
  19. Hybrid Animals - sounds dumb, but this game is pretty fun. animal fighting rpg where you can decorate. link *(!)
  20. Loop Hero - roguelite where you keep improving your stuff to fight stronger and stronger people. No spoilers loop hero **
  21. Merge Maestro - combine stuff to kill things. Kinda weird graphics, but sooooo addicting. Tons of content as well. link **
  22. Seedship - text based story where you try to find a suitable planet for colonization. seedship **
  23. Seashine - Dark sea runner, where you can't let your little jellyfish light run out or be eaten by sea monsters link *
  24. Pocket Rogues Ultimate - Procedural generated dungeons with real time combat. Babies shattered? Kidding lol, completely different and fun game. link *
  25. Buried Bornes 2 - textish based really addictive dungeon crawler + lore! link **
  26. Coromon - pokemon but not! really fleshed out beautiful world link *
  27. Brick Breaker RPG - the dev is on this reddit! RPG'd brick breaker game! Levels to go through, bosses + more! Brickbreaker RPG **
  28. Unciv - civilization like game! really deep with civilization elements link **
  29. Mindustry - Sandbox RTS with tons of meta like factory optimizing! Really fun casually once you get the hang of it too link *

Ok, now it is time to get spicy. Only ones I don't think people will know.

Quick shoutout to cards and castles ultimate which I couldn't put here because it was over 700mb! I am hopelessly addicted and *not* trying to get more people to play this fun game!

  • Spicy ones:
  1. Breakout 71 - Free open source pong type game... except it is a roguelite with kinda cool graphics for how simple it is if you ask me. link **
  2. Vector Pinball - Simple pinball with cool powerups from different boards with a really simple feel. link **
  3. BoxedUp - Sneaker tcg. You heard me right. Even if you don't like shoes, even fancy ones, this is still super fun. sneaky link ** (sigh that was horrible)
  4. Quetzal - Another TCG. This is were you use aztec cards to fight. Really fun for fans of yugioh (me)... and other people. link **
  5. Hero Fighter X - Beatemup / Fighting game where you can do cool combinations of moves. official website to download (dont go elsewhere, not on playstore) **

Spicy list ends here.

Edit: Adding some more bangers I forgot

  1. The wild darkness - survival game that is kinda punishing if you don't know what to do link *
  2. Swordigo - classic mobile adventure rpg. if you haven't played it please play it link **
  3. Spartan Firefight - 2D halo like with online and offline play link **
  4. SimpleMMO - Got addicted to this game for a while, because it is fun to see what each step says. Combat/bosses/guilds and a player based economy link **
  5. PewPew Live 2 - Supppperrr smooth shooting game. Lots of fun modes/levels/online gameplay link **
  6. Pathos Nethax Codex - Super classic rpg remade for android. Think shattered pixel dungeon but way stupider interactions and less graphics. On my second run as a valkyrie, I kept reviving just to kill this witch I had a vengence with, she gave me curse of midas when she died, and everything I touched turned to gold. I could not eat a thing. So I dived down quickly before I starved and my weapon of choice was the witches staff, and throwing the dead gold bodies at people. Now I was also super rich, so I was trying to take everything with me, but my total weight ran up to about 1 ton? On like one of the later floors, I set off a trap and a bajillion guys swarmed me and I died. pathos **

Edit edit: changed things around + yeah

Some more quick ones:

  1. Mini Metro - addictive metro management minimetro link ** ,
  2. Shotgun King - strategy rpg roguelite (almost?) for chess shotgun king link, *
  3. Baba is you - cute change the rules type of puzzle game baba is you link, **
  4. Crying suns - space tactical fight roguelite with story link, *
  5. Kingdom rush - Tower defense with cool story and weird meta fronteirs + origins, *
  6. Terraria - PC port better, but with a controller, this game is solid link, **
  7. Brotato Premium - Vampire survivors but it is different and fun in completely different ways. I just started with vampire survivors brotato *

Edit^4th!: more awesome games!

  1. Caves of Lore - CRPG with soooo much depth link **
  2. Dungeons of Aether - turn based dungeon crawler, super good story and different modes! link * (might be over 700mb, never really checked.)

Edit^5th: For some reason, the Hero fighter x website does not work. Go to here: https://hf-empire.com/forum/index.php, click on announcements, and it should be the one named: Hero Fighter X - Android 16, Full Version, Referral Codes and Modding. That should have the official download code from a moderator.

Also adding some keywords so people who do fuzzy searches + reddit AI can use this post+comments more:

'best android games' 'best android game' 'top android games' 'dev games'

EDIT^6th!!!: More stellar games! (Itch.io too now!, I will mark the best games here with @ and ones still in development with /):

  1. PolyTrack - poly racing game with leaderboards + course maker! super fun! https://kodub.itch.io/polytrack /@*

  2. Zombotron Reboot - 2D shooter metroidvania (a little bit) link @**

  3. (on the rise/worked on) Station Saturn - 3D shooter little like risk of rain? Kinda like halo? Really fun, does not work on my phone yet sadly https://booleet.itch.io/station-saturn /*

  4. Digimon Net Driver - Online digimon trainer roguelite https://kuhamaven.itch.io/dm-net-driver /*

  5. Nuclear throne mobile - free shooter roguelite https://toncho.itch.io/nuclear-throne-mobile @**

  6. I.RULE - Binding of isaac plants vs zombies project https://doctorhummer.itch.io/irule /**

  7. Dungeon Raid - Card flipping dungeon crawler roguelite https://4cats.itch.io/dungeon-raid @/**

  8. Asetheta - Mature Roguelike(lite?) clashroyale https://aplovestudio.itch.io/aestheta **

  9. Auto Necrochess - Roguelite auto battler. Really fun https://stopsignal.itch.io/auto-necrochess @/**

  10. Hyperrogue - Really trippy dungeon crawler. Kind of a sneaky learning curve https://zenorogue.itch.io/hyperrogue @/**

  11. Pokemon Overlord - Super fast pokemon deckbattler. https://jab-lao.itch.io/pokemon-overlord @/**

  12. Lumitera - open world survival game that is so cute https://lumiterra.itch.io/game @/**

Some of these games are not the full version (zombotron is on playstore and is more popular there), and some are still in developement. These are the games I feel you should try to play + pay attention to.

.

Uh I think I got everything that I absolutely love or tried and can confidently recommend that is under 700mb and lightweight (mostly). Phewsh, finally done

Please recommend more games! I feel like I only scratched the surface! Please keep the list going!

To save money, I create my own phone stand (and because it's just more fun :D)

I'm just using my phone screen as my "monitor" for me the screen did not feel too small,

But it's definitely not big and my device doesn't support external output so I'm just using my phone screen

I'm using USB Hub to connect my wired keyboard and my wired mouse

Playing with a keyboard and a mouse is really fun, I could go with Bluetooth, but why I still prefer wired?

Idk, for me wired is just more cool

So far I'm only playing Minecraft and Sonic Robo Blast 2 with this setup

To be honest its really comfortable!

So rate it from 1 to 10 y'all! Be honest

Discussion πŸ’¬ Which game do you regret spending lots of hours playing?

Post image

Today I uninstalled efootball cause all the lag , script and p2w aspect made the game less enjoyable and more frustrating as time passed.

I regret all those time i spent i played getting that divs badge and all the time i spent playing the game though lag and script just to get a measly 50 coins while they introduced game breaking cards to power creep older cards every week ???!!

I wish i had uninstalled it earlier and moved on but the idea that the game will be better once i get that new powerful card and the fear of losing all the time i have spent was stoppin me before( since i have heard some players saying the game deletes ur account when they didnt play the game for 6months )

What similar experiences do you guys have?

EDIT: VIDEO DEMONSTRATION:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidGaming/comments/1sixuf6/part_2_of_you_own_nothing/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

You can test this your self:

-Install a paid game from play store

-go offline

-mess up date and time to trigger the drm license

-and voila play store wont let you play any game even if it boots up

Honestly this sucks, I know its a phone bla bla bla and people now have wifi where ever they go ,and most likely this wont be an issue for most. But if a game says that its offline it should be offline indefinitely or there should be a warning.

As for my tests, this only happens to paid games (all) some offline games will break too (like subway surfers 2) but other like pvz wont be affected.

Discussion πŸ’¬ What is the fastest reason you have uninstalled a mobile game?

I feel like most mobile games have about 5-10 minutes to make a good impression.

What is the biggest reason you've uninstalled a game almost immediately?

Too many ads?
Confusing tutorial?
Paywalls?
Boring gameplay?
Something else?

Between the past few weeks and the end of the year, Android is getting spoiled with great ports. We just got Sifu, Truckful, Dome Keeper, Dave the Diver, and more.

Looking at the next few weeks/months, the schedule is stacked:
Oct 29: Saints Row: The Third (I feel like I'm forgetting another big release on that exact day? EDIT : it's MH Outlanders !)
Nov 5: Absolum & The Rootrees are Dead
Nov 10: Warhammer Survivors
TBA (hopefully soon): MH Rise (not available in France), MH Outlanders (EDIT : Oct 29!), Door Kickers 2, Inscryption

My backlog is already huge and it just keeps growing. It's a good time to be an Android gamer :) What are you guys playing or looking forward to the most?

Use the same ethical rules. Use the same method of user-reviews and ratings.

And how long would it take for good Android games to float to the top and all the predatorial games hunting whales, dolphin, krill, whichever, can sink to the bottom. AI drek falls away, and quality games can be found and stick around for potentially years.

Is there a reason we don't have this?

Discussion πŸ’¬ Is Dead Cells actually enjoyable on Android with ONLY touch controls? (Coming from PC)

Post image
185 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’ve been playing Dead Cells on PC for a while now and I absolutely love it. I'm considering picking it up for my Android phone so I can play it on the go, but there's a catch: I would be playing purely with touch screen controls.

No controllers, no consoles or anything. Since this is a fast-paced game where precise parrying, dodging, and down-smashing are everything, I'm a bit skeptical.

Is it actually enjoyable, or does it just feel frustrating and clunky?

Does the screen layout get in the way of the action too much?

Or should I just stick to playing it on my PC ?????

What do you say guys ??

I had never played anything like this before, but I recently got into the cozy game genre and stumbled across it. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have paid $25 for it if I didn't already have $10 in Google Play credit sitting around, since I wasn't even sure I'd like it. Now I'm 25+ hours in and still haven't left the tutorial area, and I can easily say it's worth the cost. I'm actually thinking about picking it up on PC too. It runs great on Android, I can put it to sleep and pick right back up where I left off, and it has full cross-platform saves and online support.

How the hell does it have only 10k downloads??? It has a publisher (Devolver) something not a lot of mobile games have, it has a ending and the gameplay is awesome!!!

Game title is Poinpy and this is the link for it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devolverdigital.poinpy
