Additional Mathematics [University maths: Limits] simplifying the compounded functions

Hello. I need to evaluate this limit but I don’t even know where to start lol. How to I simplify this to a point where I can sub in t=0, if it’s even possible.
I am not allowed to use l’hôpitals rule for this, which is why I couldn’t just find a solution online, as they all used that rule.
Sorry if my writing isn’t very legible
Thanks for any help

Additional Mathematics [Multivariate Calculus: Local Extrema]

I’ve been working on this one question and can’t seem to get past step 1. Either I derived my equations wrong or I just don’t know how to find the zeros, or both. I keep getting to this weird quadratic formula thing with y as a constant and vice versa, not really knowing where to go from there. I also started finding the true derivative but sorta gave up on it since I didn’t have my critical points anyway…

I’d appreciate if someone walked me through finding the critical points, since even if I found the solutions to each partial derivative I’m not quite sure how to turn that into a coordinate. Additionally, I’m not super confident on the first part of the question, using level curves, which is why I skipped it. How would you make sketches of this graph? I feel like it’s too ugly for me to comprehensively turn into something I can work with. Anything is appreciated!

Additional Mathematics [Grade 13 Math, probability] Solving a probability game

Hey everyone, I’ve been solving a probability game I saw on Tiktok and managed to solve the base case, but generalizing it seems impossible

The Base Game Imagine a game with 4 numbers drawn from a continuous uniform distribution U(0,100).

  • I get to lock in exactly one number of my choice.
  • The other three are generated completely at random.
  • Once all four numbers are on the table, they are sorted. The Highest and Lowest numbers pair up into a team. The two Middle numbers pair up into a team.

The goal is to pick a number that maximizes the expected difference between my team's sum and the opposing team's sum.

Solution:

Picking the extremes (0 or 100) is a trap that yields an expected advantage of 0 (picking 100 -> other numbers will be around 25/50/75 so expected sum is the same). You can write the expected advantage function as E(x)=−2x3+3x2−x (where x is a percentage from 0 to 1). -> peak at x=21+63≈0.7886. So, picking roughly 79 is the mathematically optimal play.

Now, here is where I need help, how do I scale this up? What if instead of 4 numbers, there are 2n numbers?

  • I pick exactly 1 number.
  • 2n−1 numbers are generated randomly.
  • They are sorted. Rank 1 pairs with Rank 2n, Rank 2 pairs with Rank 2n−1, and so on. ("rainbow" pairing).
  • The Question: I want to maximize my team's sum minus the average sum of all the other teams. As n→∞, what percentile x should I choose? Does the optimal choice approach exactly 1.0, stay at ≈0.7886, or converge to a different limit entirely? (I made formulas for n=5 and n=6 but it doesn't seem to converge anywhere)

Additional Mathematics [psy250/behavioral statistics/two way analysis of variance] I can figure out how f tables work or how to show work in excel

In my behavioral statistics class we are currently on chapter 12 two way analysis of variance in the essentials of behavioral statistics textbook and I am so lost. I have no idea where to start and the more I read the more confused I get. The most stressful part is I have to show my work in excel but I don’t know how to use excel that well. So I can’t even solve the problem on paper but our teacher will dock points unless all work is shown in excel. Are there any YouTube videos on f tables and ANOVA that I can look at or does anyone know how to do this stuff. Also anything on how to use excel and show work in it for anova and f tables would be helpful. I included the questions I need to show work on. Any advice or resources would be great I’m so lost.

Additional Mathematics [College Probability and Statistics] How do I put this into a calculator?

The problem.
The explanation.

Calculators (even websites like mathpapa or mathway) are allowed- but... how do I... even enter this?

Do the little numbers under C mean anything?

Thank you!

I don’t understand how and still think it’s skewed left. Skewness is negative and the source I found (posted in the comments) also says it’s skewed left

Additional Mathematics [College Calc II] So far my approach was taking T2=f(0)+f’(0)x+f’’(0)(x^2) and found that f(0)=3 from the graph. This is the first graph related problem we were given so I’m not too sure how to proceed..

Additional Mathematics [Statistics] Power of Test

Can someone please help me understand this example in the provided notes?

I'm not entirely sure how he determined that the critical value is 25.561. I couldn't get that answer for either the 0.05 significance level or the 0.10 significance level. Here is what I got for 0.10

Also, the notes seem to suggest that that critical value is for the significance level 0.05. However, this appeared to be used in the calculation with the significance level 0.10. Am I misunderstanding something here? If someone could walk through this problem, I would really appreciate it. Thank you

Additional Mathematics [Differential Equations] Drawing Slope Fields

Can someone please help me with this question? The problem asked to draw a direction field and determine the end behavior. Below is what the answer key states:

I'm a bit confused about why the solution curves below the x-axis behavelike that. Here is what I thought initially:

I'm not sure if I understand this, but if we traveled clockwise from 0, the fourth and third quadrants are both negative, which I thought meant that 0 is a repeller. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I’m really struggling to understand this chart and how I’m supposed to answer this question? I checked my textbook and it didn’t give much insight. I have ADHD and have trouble processing the meanings of words sometimes so I apologize if the answer is right in front of me I really can’t figure it out. Thanks in advance!

I understand the rest of the problem, but I can’t figure out where the 2.31 ft/psi is coming from. Resources available are FE handbook. The closest thing I can think of is psi as ft H2O is 2.307, but that wouldn’t make sense to me as the medium is air.
