Academic (Repost) Beliefs about gender identity (18+ with any viewpoint)

Hi everyone,

I’m a student at Durham University working on a short, anonymous survey for my anthropology dissertation. I’m studying how people form their beliefs about gender identity and why views can become so polarised.

My previous post was removed because I apparently wasn’t clear enough about the target demographic, so to clarify: the survey is open internationally to anyone aged 18+, regardless of your viewpoint on gender identity.

I’ve posted this survey here once before, so if you’ve already completed it, please don’t do it again — thank you to those who already participated.

Note: For the gender-identity question, please include all relevant information about how you describe or experience your gender in the text box provided. This makes sure every perspective is represented accurately.

If you haven’t taken part yet and you’re willing to, the survey takes about 10 minutes and collects no identifying information.

Thanks very much, and I’m happy to answer any questions.

Academic (Repost) [Repost] How do you feel about generative AI? 3–5 minutes (18+, AI users and non-users)

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m conducting this short survey as part of a university seminar project to understand how people feel about generative AI and whether they use it in everyday life.

I’d like to hear from people with all kinds of views—positive, negative, mixed, or indifferent. You don’t need any technical knowledge, and people who don’t use generative AI are just as welcome.

  • Time: About 3–5 minutes
  • Who: People aged 18 or older, whether or not you use generative AI
  • Privacy: No email address or sign-in required

Take the survey

There are no right or wrong answers. I’m interested in your own experiences and opinions.

Please respond only once. Thanks for your time! Questions or feedback about the survey are welcome in the comments.

Academic (Repost) [REPOST] J.K. Rowling and Controversial Creators (For anyone who has read or watched Harry Potter.)

This is technically my second survey but I got a lot of comments of my last one that it was not done well, which I agree with. So, I have essentially remade it using their feedback. The main problem is that the survey style I am using now does not allow for a question to be given depending on how another question was answered, so they're all in the same form together. Sorry about that.

How well do you actually know the "gay voice"? Most people are confident they do, but the data tells a different story. I'm running a study (CUNY) collecting perception data on male speech. Each batch takes ~30 seconds. You'll see how your gaydar stacks up at the end.

Take it here!

Thank you!

Academic (Repost) What do you want to see in research on LGBTQ+ identities? (18+, LGBTQ+)

Hi, my name is Allison and I am a Ph.D. student at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. I am collecting data on how LGBTQ+ individuals feel about research being done on their identities and communities. Our goal is to better understand how LGBTQ+ people want social science researchers to prioritize the concerns from the LGBTQ+ community, as well as inform more ethical and inclusive practices.

Often there is a gap between researchers and the communities that they are trying to serve through their research. This is true now more than ever given the attacks on and challenges towards LGBTQ+ and diversity centered research. Our hope is that by surveying the LGBTQ+ community directly that we can help to bridge that gap and improve research in the future.

Participation is completely anonymous and takes around 20 minutes. The survey consists of a mostly Likert style surveys and with a few open text responses.

If you are interested in participating, here is the survey link-  https://illinois.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_5BmExesVNiviI86

We appreciate your time and helping us foster research that helps serve the needs of the LGBTQ+ community.

My name is Eleanor Miller, and I'm currently a second year medical student (OMS-II) at Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Denver, Colorado.

I am conducting research on IUD insertion, and would love your participation! Your anonymous survey response will be included in a narrative literature review in order to expand academic and public discourse around an under-researched area: IUD Procedure Pain and Perspectives.

As someone pursuing a career in OB/GYN who has their own experience with IUD insertion, I appreciate each and every story there is to tell. We have had hundreds of responses already, and would love to gather as many perspectives as possible!

So, follow the link below or scan the QR code to fill out a response! It should take less than 10 minutes. If anyone has any questions, please reach out! Also, feel free to share the flyer or link with others who qualify!

I am grateful for your participation,

Hi everyone!

I’m currently writing my Bachelor’s thesis in linguistics and I’m looking for native American and Australian English speakers to take part in my short survey.

My research looks at how people perceive and respond to different ways of expressing requests in English, with a particular focus on whether perceptions differ between American and Australian English speakers.

The survey takes less than 20 minutes and can easily be completed on your phone.

It would mean a lot to me if you could participate 🫶

Academic (Repost) [Academic Repost] How Language Shapes Understanding - with Memory Scores & Detailed Debrief at the End (anyone 17+)

Still recruiting! :) give it a go if you're interested in language & how it works!

The study is relatively long but you can have it open in the background on your laptop and return to it whenever you have a bit of time.

This experiment took ages to set up so that participants get good insights into the research behind the study and their own results upon completion. If you have a bit of time to spare, I'd appreciate if you gave it a go :)

What do we mean by human understanding? This study builds on ongoing research exploring what determines how easily we process, understand, and remember language.

The experiment takes up to 60-90 minutes if you complete both parts (though this varies by participant - can be much quicker!), including a memory test that you can re-take after 7 days to see how much your memory has declined over time. The only requirement for taking part is that you are 17 or over. Using a laptop or tablet is strongly recommended.

Please copy the below link into a new browser window or email me via [c.seyfried@dundee.ac.uk](mailto:c.seyfried@dundee.ac.uk) if interested. Thank you! 😄

All the best,

Academic (Repost) [Academic] [Repost] How natural do English expressions sound in conversation? (Native English speakers)

Hi everyone!

I'm a graduate student in Japan conducting research in English linguistics.

Thank you to everyone who has participated so far! I'm still looking for native speakers of English to help with three surveys about how natural different English expressions sound in conversations.

Survey links:

Part 2 — Especially looking for participants:
https://forms.gle/AiqbtoncW6DKyYkK7

Part 3:
https://forms.gle/jKN5qR8axNDpNzad7

Part 1:
https://forms.gle/1sVwzMvkhSojeTjx5

Estimated time: Approximately 10–15 minutes per part, excluding optional written comments.

You may complete one, two, or all three parts. Each survey is independent, and there's no need to complete them in numerical order.

I would particularly appreciate more responses to Part 2, although all three parts still need participants.

You'll read short conversations and judge how natural particular English expressions sound. No knowledge of linguistics or formal grammar is required.

If you've completed an earlier version, you're welcome to participate in the current questionnaires. Please complete each current questionnaire only once.

Participation is voluntary, and responses will be anonymized for academic research.

Thank you very much for your help!
