DIGITAL Shots from Rewindpix
Shot on RewindPix with custom filter
r/toycameras • u/zzpza • Feb 05 '26
For the longest time this subreddit was mostly film photos from cameras like the Holga and Diana. We've always allowed digital photos too, such as from the Gamyboy Camera or the Harinezumi for example.
Recently there have been a number of very popular digital cameras that have introduced people to the lofi aesthetic such as the many different thermal printer cameras, but also the Chuzhao and Kodak Charmera.
This is not bad, and they are welcome here! :)
But it can make it difficult to find specific types of content. This is where the post flair system comes in, since you can filter by these.
I have kept the flair system simple to begin with, we can add or change these if we need to, but let's start with the basic system and see how that goes.
I've added the following four post flairs, and made is so you have to select a flair when you post.
DIGITAL
For photos and video taken with digital toy cameras. This includes thermal print cameras.
FILM
For photos taken with film toy cameras.
DISCUSSION
For posts that are talking about toy cameras, such as asking advice, troubleshooting, etc.
META
For posts about the subreddit. This shouldn't see much use, it wil mostly be used by the mods for posts like this one.
Thoughts, comments, and feedback below. I want to try to keep this as simple to use as possible, so if you want any extra post flairs created, there would have to be a very good reason.

If not can you link to your favorite semi related discord if you use it?
Or if mods see this, can you guys make one?

No filters just four different film stocks this time.
ANDY WARHOLga (4x Holga 120Ns)
Lomo Metropolis, Lomo Purple, Lomo Turquoise, and Harman Red.
As you would expect not ever shot came out and not always on the same camera. As a result I was only able to assemble five sets. That's why one of the soup cans is a banana.
The reciprocity failure on Lomo turquoise especially screwed me.
I entered a few of these in Holgaweek

(im not sure if its discussion or digital, if it's wrong labeled, tell me so i can fix it!)
my partner got me recently a charmera millenium (yay!) and ive been using it everywhere, i just love the vibes of seeing something like a retro picture or places that are weird to exist (kinda liminal stuff)
however, while i was editing some pictures (like first one) i saw that the compression looks like... text on AI-generated pictures? specially on the blue/purple one that says Bar Escocia. if you zoom it, it gets wrapped in a weird way. i didnt use any of the filters that you can put in settings, this is like the standard one.
i know this camera is 1.3MP, thats not a problem, but it reminded me to the ultra zoom pictures (x60) that i take with my phone (moon picture); it does some extra postpro and when i look at the picture it has that weird enhacenment that i've seen in photoshop auto focus and stuff like that.
this is just, for clarifying, a question/curiosity if someone else notices. i think they could have put some extra filter to gain some details that could be lost in compression. i gonna keep using my charmera, i love the pictures i got!
gotta say, i would have loved a pixeled zoom, it would be deliciously 2000s when they begin to put cameras on phones! but its fine like this too

I don't have a Camp Snap camera, but I was reading the feature list and what stands out to me is the quick-draw feature. Here is the info from their website.
Quick Draw battery saving technology lets you capture the moment almost instantly, anytime, hassle-free, without the need to toggle power on and off. Just switch it on and use it normally; if inactive, your camera automatically falls asleep to save battery. When you're ready for the next shot, simply draw your camera and press the shutter button to get the shot. No power-on switch or boot-up required.
This is really interesting to me and I'm wondering if any other digital toy cameras (or regular digital cameras) are offering the same technology. I think the boot-up time for cameras can get really annoying and I would like to own something which is always ready to shoot without needing to power it on, or at least a very fast boot-up time. This is what I miss from actual film cameras, as they're always ready to shoot.

Just started experimenting with toy cameras and wanted to share a few shots! Iβm really enjoying the dreamy, imperfect look of these photos.
