Moderator Notice Wyoming wolf incident posts
I do not want to suppress posts about the Wyoming wolf incident. However these posts are frequently becoming a hotbed of disrespect and fighting.
Please keep it clean and respectful. Otherwise the ban hammer will come out and be used frequently.
EDIT: I have just had to remove dozens of posts calling for violence against the individual and establishment in question. As such, I have been forced to lock comments on all related threads.
I will start a mega thread shortly. Any and all discussion of the incident will need to be restricted to that thread. Any new posts will be removed.

Question What happens when everyone in the pack dies except one of the heads like the father/mother? I saw in a manga that they kinda give up and let themselves get killed and I was wondering if this was true.

Pics Conri's dad and mom
Conri's dad Fury on the left, and mom Layla on the right. Fury passed away this past summer to brain cancer. Layla started out black like Conri, but had phased to silver by age 10. Conri is already phasing a 2 years old. He should turn out like his mom. Conri is in the second pic.

Question How close is too close?
I am curious about your thoughts on the following situation. First and foremost I am not fearful and so happy our wolf population is recovering so well.
We have had wolf activity within 150-200 feet of our home over the past year, I have been able to see this in the winter months with prints and markings on snow pack. We have also seen one lone wolf within 50 ft but it moved along.
Last week, the entire pack came within 20 feet of the house. Aggressive, barking, snarling. My female dog was outside about 10 feet from the house when they came in close. It took numerous calls to get her to run to us. She does not mark so hasn’t touched any of their territory markings. The pack did not let up until she was on our deck. My adrenaline was pumping for sure.
I have learned the pack is coming in that close to other homes in the 1.5 radius of us as well, some don’t have pets. They don’t typically have behavior where they want to be that close to humans consistently nor what I have experienced in my life.
What are your thoughts on this? What would cause this behavior and what level of concern would you have?

Info Ancient wolves could only have reached this island by boat.
This story was from winter of last year, but it is such an interesting story about the potential interactions between wolves and people that I thought I should share it for anyone who hasn't heard about this discovery yet. I was reminded about this by a recent PBS Eons short on the topic.

One of my favorite creators just dropped a fantastic video about the Wolf-Moose study on Isle Royale, Michigan, the longest running predator-prey study in the world. I thought y'all would enjoy it.

Pics Wet woofer
Was playing with Conri and Keeva this morning until Conri decided to take a dip in his water stocktank. So unless I want muddy paw prints all over me, its time to leave the containment. Maybe next time. 😆
News I AM DISGUSTED AND SO DONE WITH WOLVES BEING TREATED LIKE THIS💔💔
BREAKING: A collared
wolf reportedly belonging to Yellowstone National Park's 8 Mile Pack has been k*lled by blaisebikes in Montana, with disturbing photographs circulating online showing the animal's bloodied body displayed as a trophy.
The photographs, reportedly shared by Trophy Bucks and Bulls of Montana, were accompanied by the announcement: "WOLF DOWN!! CONGRATS."
Congratulations for WHAT? For killing an intelligent, sentient animal and proudly displaying its body for applause?
The photographs also raise concerns that the wolf may have been shot in the abdomen, potentially causing prolonged suffering.
Yellowstone's wolves are protected within national park boundaries, but those protections can disappear the moment they cross an invisible line into neighboring states.
Wolves' lives should not become trophies simply because they cross a boundary.
