Forgive me if this sounds really quite dumb. But it's floating around my brain and I thought I'd ask the question.
I'll use medicine as an example. I recently found out my depression is amongs other things linked to inflammation of the tissues within the nervous system and brain.
This got me thinking about medical conditions and how they're probably all interwoven in a way that, despite presenting as different conditions, share common threads and causes.
I've been thinking as all medical conditions as a 3D sphere. Think of the centre of the sphere as homeostasis (healthy), and the further from the centre being less so.
The outside would involve dying and it can also be though of as a person's overall condition over time if you imagine multiple spheres seemlessly blending in a chain over someone's life.
Now imagine a shape within this sphere. This shape represents that condition of that person. Each part of the sphere is a status of one or more parts of that person's mind and body. The shape morphs within each person's sphere to encapsulate what is happening to them and how all these things are linked.
So sticking with my depression, which may be encapsulated in a shape that also includes inflammation, gut health and other factors (states).
To a very well trained observer. You could take a sphere and observe the shape within and me given an accurate map of what is happening within someone.
So obviously you'd need an incredible accurate map of someone to populate the shape within the sphere. And I'm sure this could never fully be applied in any meaningful way.
But as a thought process about interconnectedness. I quite like it.
Hope you do too.
