Discussion Megathread: 2026 Municipal Election - Voting and Results
Monday, Oct. 26 is Municipal Election Day in Sudbury!
This megathread is to serve as the space to discuss Sudbury's municipal candidates, election outcomes, and your general thoughts in the wake of this important day.
Both electronic and in-person voting polls close at 8 p.m. on Oct. 26, so be sure to have your voice heard at the ballot box before that time.
- For information on how and where to vote, visit the City's voting information page here.
- For unofficial results after the polls close at 8 p.m., visit the City's results page here.
This megathread will be pinned for the next day or so to allow for post-election results to be captured here.
Please note that for the sake of keeping the sub easier to navigate and keep your feed from being overwhelmed, all other election-related posts will be removed and redirected to this thread for the duration.
Happy voting, Sudbury!

Question Sudbury EV Owners
Hey! I was hoping to get some experience / information from EV owners in Sudbury, does the winter weather significantly impact your battery life either temporarily or permanently, if so how much!
As well as any other ev owning tips / tricks, what you like what you don't like would be great to hear what it's like owning one in Sudbury, is the tech there yet or does it still maybe need some time in the oven to really work for life in the north?

Discussion Mayoral candidate
What are our opinions on Bob Johnston? So far he seems like one of those right wing denialists who don’t know what he’s talking about. Also he’s too lazy to create his own poster so he uses AI so how can he run a city?

Question Snow Squad snow removal, or someone else?
Looking to hire a snow removal service this year - we have never done so in the past. Snow Squad does the two driveways on either side of us, and they seem to do a good job and come early/frequently enough.
I was quoted $1,200 [incl. tax] for a single lane driveway [about 80ft long]. Is this normal pricing for a residential driveway? Do they price base on driveway size/lanes, or is it a flat fee across the board for residential snow clearing?
If there are any other recommendations for services in Sudbury central, I'd love to hear them and your experiences!

Political Discussion Things are heated in Ward 7
Between Natalie Labbee and Aaron Walsh. She just posted a live she had about 30 min ago. I guess Aaron Walsh and friends attacked her event and things got physical between some supporters. Crazy times. I’m not a fan of either of them but if Aaron wins in Ward 7 , they will have huge problems.

Question Eastlink Mobile
Hello!
I’m considering making the swap to Eastlink mobile. My main concern is the coverage area, their map won’t load on the website (good start lol).
I live in Chelmsford and travel a bunch to Sault Ste. Marie area & Southern Ontario.
So, long story short, how good/bad/ugly is Eastlinks mobile service? I’d be bringing my own device.

Question Internet + Mobile bundle option
Moving to Sudbury soon (south end). Planning to get Eastlink internet and keep Public Mobile for my phone. How's Public Mobile signal in the city? Any dead zones I should know about?
Or should I just bundle internet and mobile with Eastlink? Does anyone know if Eastlink works okay in Toronto? I'd have to travel back often.
Or if you think other carriers will work best for my situation, I’d appreciate any input!

Question TTRPG - DM/GM looking for players
I’m an experience dungeon/game master looking to run in person tabletop roleplaying games. I’ve run D&D, Vampire the Masquerade, Star Wars, and many home brewed supernatural campaigns.
Outside of my friend group I’m not familiar with the (any?) roleplaying scene in Sudbury and looking to introduce new people to my particular brand of storytelling.
If you or a group of friends are looking to role play something, or can point me in the right direction of where the players are at, please let me know.

Political Discussion Map of Voting Day locations (paper ballot)
There was no map from the city showing all the 27 voting locations on October 26, only a list (Voting Locations). Decided to make something to show nearest in person voting location. Full disclosure that electronic voting is still active, this is just to help those who want to go in person.

Political Discussion Frustrating being deleted every single provincial and municipal elections
So I live on a regional road. This is critical information.
Every election that I've lived in Sudbury for, for the city or the province, I've had to register. I've done provincial elections and had to register everyone on regional roads.
However when I've done federal elections while I get different street names, the voter name and house number is still there. I can easily look at a map and get both the regional road and the street name to verify the address. Not a problem.
But the province keeps deleting me from the rolls as well as everyone else on regional roads. Even if they have the name that the maps use.
Why? I've complained to the city and the province. The city says they get the list from the province yet never seems to notice entire regional roads missing. The province seems to shrug and blame mpac (which isn't true because that would mean the property owner is still on the roll)...
Just so frustrated.

Question Did anyone think this was a joke/harmless prank?
I didn’t know he was an actual candidate. I’m brand new to politics how can people be allowed to use ai posters especially when it looks nothing like the actual person?

The Fire department had a very quick response time. Luckily the fire was isolated from the tree line or it would have spread very quickly

Discussion Sudbury remax realtors now think it's okay to use AI to doctor photos and confuse or mislead potential buyers.
realtor.caThe realtor of this listing used AI to show what the garage would look like if it was finished on the outside. And then a subtle note at the end of the listing saying they used AI. This is something that could easily be missed. Unprofessional false representation.

Question Moving to a new place. Anyone has any experience with EBOX for internet?
New place would be located on the west end.
So far they've got the cheapest plans, all I know is they're under Bell?
