Screenshot [OoT] You can’t tell me people are actually mad about these graphics/chara-designs 😭

I’ll preface this by saying that OOT is my favorite game ever, and I hold the Zelda franchise very close to my heart.

I couldn’t have asked for a better art style. It’s beautiful, original, coherent, and I really don’t get the complaints I’ve seen about it. The amount of detail they’ve put into this remake is crazy.

OOT was already all about the details, so it only makes sense that they’d keep that same spirit here.

Ocarina of Time is already a legendary game, so I don’t mind it being a 1:1 remake, but they still took some risks with the designs, and I’m glad they did. I’ve always wanted to see a Zelda game get this kind of treatment, and the fact that they finally did it to my favorite game of all time is pretty surreal.

I know people are going to complain that child Zelda doesn’t look exactly like she did in the original, but I actually think she looks really cool. Can’t wait to see the designs we haven’t seen yet.

And it’s running at 4K 60 FPS on a goddamn portable console.

Thank you, Nintendo. I cannot wait for November. 😭

Feel free to share your thoughts. You are allowed to disagree entirely. ;)

And it's just the most beautiful video game you've ever seen. I can't believe anybody isn't happy. This is exactly what I imagined when I was playing as a kid.

Screenshot [OoTHD] Thoughts on OoT Remake not being a 1:1 recreation..

Thumbnail

I'm really happy Nintendo didn't just remake the game 1:1 again like the 3DS version, I was already sold on the art style / graphics but the game being this ambitious sold me x10 more. Seeing the redesigned main locations & terrain, some minor & major changes to some dungeons (possibly some new rooms too, that wall in the water temple screenshot is able to be bombed, so we should be seeing a new room there) has me super excited.

I still really hope that we also get some new dungeons like the light temple or just more mini dungeons that can be optional, smaller dungeons like the bottom of the well would be so much fun

What do you guys think about the remake not being 1:1 or a reimagining (like FF7R) but instead being a remake to the scale of the Resident Evil ones ? & what are some extra content you possibly want to see in this new iteration of the game

Screenshot [OoT] Remake: Am I just wearing nostalgia glasses?

After watching the trailer, the “goodbye” scene between Link and Saria stood out to me. Particularly, the voice acting. It sounded like something from a kid’s cartoon. I wasn’t a fan. Hopefully the Japanese dub is better.

Stark contrast from the somber tones in the OG. There was something poignant about reading lines like this with nothing but crows and ambient noise filling the background. Even as a kid… I understood the gravity of their “goodbye”.

Anyone else? Maybe I’m delusional 😂

Screenshot [OoT] Are there any bladesmiths out there who can explain the awesome new Kokiri Sword design?

Like what kind of blade would this be, and how hard would this be to actually forge? I’m sure that it’s not practical in real life just like the master sword but I have to satisfy my curiosity.

Edit- I just wanna thank everybody for contributing. There’s like 400 comments so I can’t really reply to everybody but if you gave my question a stab (pun intended) I appreciate it!

Screenshot [OOT] The remake could prove Ocarina of Time is the greatest game ever, not just for its era, but by today's standards.

As someone who was born a little after Ocarina of Time was released, and hence cannot appreciate how ahead of its time it was, I do not have any bias. I fully believe that if the remake goes in the direction it looks like it is, it could the best game ever regardless of the fact the original was released in 1998.

Never did I ever expect I'd be having thoughts of buying a switch 2 until the gameplay reveal. Like, the art direction, the way the hylians actually look like they came from a fairy tale book and the snappyness of the combat won me over....

I want to know their thought process, was there any concept art or any topic about this design choice?

Because this has to be the worst looking boss of all, the fight itself is fun but I kept thinking of how goofy this boss was.

This monster is just a chubby dreadhead version of Mike Wazowski and Celia Mae.

Even has the same teeth as Mike I'm not even kidding 😭

Screenshot [BotW] I couldn't find an answer online so I did it myself. It takes 110 minutes, with a 5 minute margin of error, to walk non-stop at the slowest speed across Hyrule. This is the path I took

Post image
6.8k Upvotes

It wasn't continuous since I did it in multiple sessions and sometimes had to stop to fight enemies in the way. Every time I stopped I paused my stopwatch and marked my exact location so that I could continue from the same place. I tried to make sure it was completely walkable but there were 2 times near the end where I messed up so I got as close as I could to the edge of a cliff paused the stopwatch, and used Revali's Gale and continued from the edge of the cliff.

Also running as fast as you can with max stamina takes around 24 minutes on this route

Screenshot [SS] [BotW] [TotK] I’d love for the next incarnation of Link to be expressive again and for Nintendo to leave the stoic persona behind.

Thumbnail

This might be an unpopular opinion, but the wild era Link strikes me as a bit boring character.

Don't get me wrong—I absolutely love the BotW/TotK games—but Link as a character feels a bit bland to me. Conceptually, I think he’s interesting, but I struggle to connect with a character who maintains that stoic expression 90% of the time and just seems so emotionless.

SS Link is so entertaining to watch; I love how expressive he is. I love that, even without saying a single word, we can perfectly understand his emotions just by glancing at his face. I just love an expressive king, so I’d like to see them take that route again for the next Link.

Screenshot [OoT] People comparing the remake to the Unreal fan project genuinely do not understand art direction Spoiler

So opinions are all over the place after today’s direct. While I think it’s perfectly fine to not like the remake’s style and changes made, I’ve seen a lot of people comparing it to that one Unreal fan project.

Sorry, but that’s just completely ridiculous, they look absolutely nothing alike and are on completely different levels of detail and fidelity. If you genuinely think these projects look similar you need to either get your eyes checked or find a new joke.

Screenshot [MM] This has to be one of the saddest/most chilling things in a Zelda game

Post image

Majora's Mask is a game that is widely known as being one of if not the darkest entry in the franchise, but the tragedy of the Deku Butler and his son still hits hard even all these years of re-playing the game. Just the fact that it's one of the last scenes in the end credits really hammers home how sad and lonely this story is, and how even Link can't save everyone.
