New Rule for r/beagles Regarding Use of AI Images
If posting an AI image of your beagle, please include a real image of your beagle as a reference.
AI images are more commonplace. When one is posted here, we get a lot of reports from users that the image is a bot post or spam, however, most of the time, it's a real beagle owner who just wants to show off their pup drawn through AI. That is completely okay, but we are now asking that you also include a real image of your beagle as a reference. This should help others understand when you're a real beagle owner, proud of their AI drawn pup, or bot spam.

Haven’t posted Samson in awhile. My baby forever. 🪦
One month today with Bandit.
Adopted a Beagle from my local humane society a month ago and so far its been great! He is a little mischievous at times but overall hes a great dog. He learned his name relatively quickly (shelter gave him a name we didn't feel fit him so we swapped it) and he is proving to be quite the smart little guy. Interestingly enough, he's quiet! The shelter as well as anyone who has heard we were getting a beagle warned us that they love to sing and he will eventually find his voice but so far he will howl a bit when we are at work. He loves going for walks, zooming around our backyard, playing with my kid, and settling down on my chair with me at the end of the day. All in all hes been a great little addition and I had to share with someone!

Cosying up to me...
For the past few years, I've used a single duvet over my lap when just sitting and watching TV, when it's cold.
It started because I *was* cold - due to poor circulation, my legs and feet get colder than my body. But I find it quite comforting, and Katie likes it, too.
Normally, she will jump on my lap for attention and belly rubs, but for sleeping, she tends to take to the sofas or the floor. But when the duvet comes out, my lap seems to become irresistible. Perhaps, without the duvet, my knees are too bony.
It's not really yet duvet time, but because I wasn't fully well at the weekend, it came out of the cupboard.
And look who's back...

Rescued lab beagle
I recently adopted this little lab beagle. He is quite the snuggle bug, very curious, sleeps in his crate all night and has taken to leash walking very well. Potty training is the only problem. It’s only been a few days so I guess I have to give him time. My older beagle is potty pad trained and will also go outside to do his business. Any tips on getting little guy to do the same will be welcome. Thanks! (He also doesn’t have a name yet, I call him Cornelius)

I have a motion sensing camera in my shed that saw a rat so I took the beagle out to investigate. I love watching them work their noses and and do the beagle thing. Hopefully he scared the rat away.

His name is Tater Tot Van Ketchup Fernando Yoshie. Because. But we call him Ketchup. The pics are from a few months ago when he was 2 months old (now he's almost 7 months old). I'm gonna die from his cuteness.

Beagles ate 28 cupcake wrappers
These are the culprits. We had a party today for elementary kids. 28 of the cupcakes were taken. I'm not sure if all that was in the trash was wrappers or if anyone ate the frosting and tossed the cupcake.
We use a small trash can, the size of a normal family's bathroom trash can and use shopping bags as liners. Usually, it lives on the counter next to the sink because Brownie is a puppy. During the party, the dogs were in a bedroom, but after the party, I let them out and didn't remember the trash was on the floor where normal people keep it. Gary will also steal trash, and in this case, I think he is the primary culprit. He looked quite round and Brownie still seemed as thin as ever.
They are paper wrappers from Sam's Club. 14 chocolate, 14 vanilla. Again, no idea if anyone tossed a cupcake. Searching online, everyone says a paper cupcake liner is fine. But this was 28. Twenty eight!
He pooped twice on his first walk after the party and tried again at bedtime, but it was too dark and I don't know if he was successful that time. My kids were on the phone with a family member, so I didn't have my phone to use as a flashlight.
He is acting normally so far. I'll watch for signs of problems.
If you ever experienced a similar scenario, I'd love to know how it turned out for your beagle. I hope my glutton will be okay.

Jack and the 4 Blanket Problem
He’s pretty comfortable but has he reached Peak Comfort? That pillow isn’t being used. Are there more covers that could be deployed? These are questions he would ask if he wasn’t snoring.

Advice for managing the hound stink
I'd love to get recommendations for managing the "hound stink" with my new addition. I browsed a recent post regarding an older adopted beagle, but I have a 5 month old.
Jack, my best boy that I had for 13 years, never really developed that distinct (lol) hound smell unless it had been a long while since his last bath. He loved rolling in shit (literally and figuratively) on hikes so he could go either a month or a week between baths. Even if it was a bit of time from his last bath, he smelled good still- a comforting musk and not an overwhelming stink.
Gilbert is 5 months and I'm noticing he defiantly has more of a natural smell than Jack ever had. Also a beagle mix but he has a very different coat. Where Jack had longer fur and a distinct undercoat, Gilbert has a very short single layer coat. I've noticed his bedding quickly develops a smell after laundering it and he has a bit of stink vs gentle musk at times too.
Both dogs are/were fed Purina Pro Plan, various safe human food (veggies, some fruits, pumpkin, etc.) and Gil gets lots of training treats at this time. He isn't super food motivated (CRAZY, I KNOW) so sometimes we gotta break out the hot dogs when the raw kibble isn't enticing enough. When Jack got older, I added fish oil to his food that helped his skin and joints. Is this something to consider even for a puppy?
I'd love to hear your solutions and recommendations- shampoos, conditioners, food supplements. I don't like the idea of just covering up if something smells but 'treating it' if that makes sense. I want to be able to enjoy my dog and his smell, and not constantly be worried that my house stinks.
