Well, like I said, this is just me rambling while I think

Well, I finished the game, and Julia was probably the character I related to the most (I guess that’s obvious—otherwise I wouldn’t be here).

The thing is, from my perspective, if they gave us a plot twist where Julia was actually a manipulator or something like that, it would really mess with the whole idea of a good narrative.

Because, as we know, in the world of TCOAAL, everyone’s morality is pretty gray—since it’s a dystopia and all that.

But I don’t know.

I feel like it would break the mold for a character you don’t see as a monster compared to others,

because her self-harm, depression, and addiction are, in part, quite similar to certain people in real life.

If you’re given a character you grow attached to because they break the mold—at first you think, “Wow, a sociopath,” but then it turns out they’re actually a complete sociopath—you lose what little empathy you had, and in the end, you’re just driven by morbid curiosity. Like I said, this is just me rambling about it, and I didn’t have any specific goal other than to share a few thoughts.

In my opinion, making her a covert sociopath wouldn’t be such a good narrative decision.

But anyway, that’s all.

I just wanted to get that off my chest because I thought it was interesting to consider.

Or maybe I’m just blind to it.
