Wanted to share this with everyone here. With Codex I'm porting Blackthorne to the 3DO. Taking the best of both the SNES and 3wx versions, enhancing it for 3DO.

Progress is coming along. All sprites redone, new character portraits. A new soundtrack is in the works, for now SNES soundtrack is there as a placeholder.working in new cinematics as well but those aren't ready yet

In case it wasn't obvious, I did this utilizing Claude. Mainly it was to familiarize myself with the decompilation process which is currently taking the internet by storm in places such as /r/decomps and to learn more about what these AI agents can do.

It's also because Fixel has stopped supporting these devices and they have been out of production for a while now, he has also gone effectively radio silent. Hopefully, this data can assist the end-users and developers of the 3DO community in whatever this may be useful for, hopefully bug fixes and added features and a deeper understanding of this hardware as well as further developments in the ODE space.

If anyone would like to correct anything they find wrong or add more relevant data to the repositories, you are welcome to do so. Forks and stuff are also welcome.

I did have it heavily check against external documentation and reference material as well as cross-checking across the three repos for consistency/accuracy and I tested what I could on my FZ-1 console and my ODE.

I foolishly even gambled a little with dumping the flash with no recovery, luckily it succeeded.

I do not own an Xport external ODE so that was out of the scope of this project, if you have one and you would like to take a crack at it, feel free to utilize this project for any resources it may provide.

If Fixel would like to reach out and have these repositories taken down in order to keep supporting his hardware and software himself, I would be fine with doing so.

I recently updated Oh My 3DO to desktop app version 1.0.5 and Menu 1.0.4.

New in this version are some optimizations and an upgrade to previews that allow 320x240 30FPS video to play in the menu. They can be about a minute long, which covers all of the previews from EmuMovies.

As always, the entire thing is all open source, so if anyone is building their own menu, feel free to take what you need from Oh My 3DO. The preview codec is in om3dvid.

Was looking through a box of controllers I had and found these three. I know the Goldstar one, but not the other two. One says Logitech and other says UFO. The Logitech one is different than others I've seen. Are these rare / sought after?

I'm really fan of Super Robot Wars franchise i'm curious what if they could be ported this games for 3DO console.

It was be interesing seens many mecha franchise in 1 game on niche console.

Got the console with the advice 'It read games, but the controller doest work', so i got both the console and a turbo controller.

Well, not sure how the guy tested, but the controller works perfectly fine, so more multiplayer for me XD. The console came with a music cd, and it wasnt reading, but the announce included photos of him playing a game, so i guess it does work.

I needed a few reloads to make the ODE work, but now is working flawlessly, so thats nice :D. When the gun i ordered arrives, i gonna play the hell of all those horrible gun games i want to play so much. Also need to make a hole for the SD extender to reach out of the console.

The big cap looks a little big, so i guess i will recap the console on the near future. I have like other 6 waiting for recap, including a PSX and all his millions of caps... so it will take time haha.

Happy with the guy, so i will look for some mods for sure :D.

I've spent some time building and testing a replacement boot.iso and tool set for 3DO ides that use the same command set as FCare's SataTo3DO. If your ODE runs the original boot.iso, there's a good chance this one will also work.

This replacement doesn't require any firmware updates. It actually works around a bug in FCare's firmware that causes some folder navigation problems (like having to go into another directory and back to get into the first directory). It shows cover art, 15 second 30fps previews, and has tools for NVRAM backup and support for save editing.

I built this mainly for my own use, but I figured since it works pretty well, I might as well put it up on Github for anyone to use.

Definitive 3DO Release List

Back in 2014 I made a list of all the released 3DO games out there. I've seen other lists out there, but I had some extra columns for lightgun and mouse support, #of discs, etc. I also included all software and educational titles, demos, kiosk software... anything that has been dumped from a CD (excluding homebrews and prototypes). I found 416 unique titles, at the time I was posting on the 3do Zone Forums and that list was believed to be complete in 2014. We actually discovered a lot of rare titles that were once only rumors, like Oilman and the Toyota kiosk discs. I'm curious to know if any more titles have been discovered since then!

A few notes for anyone who wants to use it or help refine it:

• This list DOES NOT contain any unreleased games, homebrew, or prototypes.  However, it DOES include unofficially released games (Powerslide and Icebreaker 2, for example).  It also DOES contain magazine coverdiscs and demos.
• Since Japanese games can be written in Romaji or translated ( for example:  Sotsugyou Final/Graduation Final), and since some games had different names for different regions, I have chosen to have 3 categories for the game names.  While I have 4 region categories, I chose to leave Korean translations out, as most are known to English speakers by common names.
• Some Japanese games are simply known to English speakers by their translated names, while others were localized and given new names.  As such, the US/UK name column should contain the US/UK name if it was localized in English, or the most common translation if it was only released in Japan.
• The columns for US, EU, JP, and KO are for the release regions.  If the game was released in that particular region, it should have a “1” in the corresponding cell.  I will eventually audit these columns and use a “0” if I know that a game was never released in that area, but for a now, a blank cell could mean that it wasn’t released in that region or it may have been released there but I haven’t checked yet.
• While the 3DO was available in many countries, I only have a “release” column for the US, Europe, Japan, and Korea, as to my knowledge, these were the only countries to have exclusives.
• The Developer/Pubisher column can get a bit messy, as many sites often confuse the two.  Ideally, these would be separate columns.  Maybe some day…
• Outside of the region columns, any blank cell should be considered “unknown”.  Filled cells should contain no errors, please let me know if you find one!!

A little beat up, but I've been looking for this one for a while.

Seal of the Pharoah is one of those games where if someone asks if it's good the answer is "No, but you have to play it"

Only saw about a minute of gameplay on this and it looked really interesting, excited to try it out. Anyone here played this one before?

Just arrived today and I’m excited to try out some games, but was wondering if there was a language selection option on the system.

Never knew they was released on the system to begin with. Never in my wildest dreams would I believe I would ever find one in such pristine condition.

Built up a nice collection about 20 games.. highlights are Road rash..need for speed.. gex.. Wolfenstein etc.. the system is mint. I have one problem.. I can't stand playing road rash with no in game music. ( I had the fz-1 20 years ago .so that music is still burnt in my brain..so I'm looking to buy an ,fz-1 now.. please talk me out of it..lol

An in-game reset mod has been added to the project.

Quality and frame rate of gameplay is pretty bad, layout is okay, but the soundtrack is just peak. which i guess would make it up even when idle -- 6/10 🤷‍♂️

I have a 3DO-FZ1 that has been playing games from disc fine as of today. I bought a clone ODE from Aliexpress in May 2024 for $44 and finally got around to installing it. The listing is gone now (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256806081624431.html), but I've attached screenshots of the listing snapshot.

I put the files and a couple games onto my exFAT-formatted USB drive. I started up the console and the Fixel ODE menu loaded. I ran 2 games and it worked fine.

Next I researched how to manage saves. I saw someone's advice on saving and loading NVRAM save files to manage multiple saves. I tried to do so, but accidentally chose the option to save the system memory (I forgot the name of it).

There was no option to interrupt this, and I didn't want to turn the console off while it was writing to my USB drive, so I let it run. I stepped away for a few minutes, and there was a black screen. I pressed buttons and nothing happened. I then restarted the console, and the menu looked glitchy but still legible. I tried loading one game, got a glitchy screen, and then all black. Then tried another game, same thing.

I tried these steps and still got a black screen after each:

* Re-formatted my USB drive and put the boot.iso file back onto it with 1 game.

* Disconnected the ODE

* Connected the ribbon cables back to the original disc drive

When I turn the console on, I see the screen flash for a short amount of time (as if a video signal is initializing), but still a black screen. The disc tray will open if you press the eject button, and you can even insert a CD and it will spin. However, there is no audio or video.

Is there any hope to recover this? I have a second working FZ-1, maybe there's some way I can use my working console to help recover the system memory I'm guessing I corrupted?

Update - I've waited an hour and tried turning the 3DO back on. Instead of an immediate black screen, I got the glitchiness again until it eventually went black: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THAPdC1Dn6Y I tried turning it on a couple more times and I usually only get an immediate black screen.
