Discussion For those of you who have switched to an all-electric vehicle… how have you found the experience in our winter climate?
We travel to the mountains from Calgary to ski on day trips and head to the Okanagan a couple times of year in both winter and summer. How has the travel been with all electric? Any issues? How has finding chargers been in your travels?
Also, did you have a level 2 charger installed at your house?

Discussion Prepare for energy prices to go up
A data center power plant gets an okay in the province. They will be using quite a lot of energy. Prepare for prices to go up. More data centers, higher prices.
Enjoy the fact, especially you conservatives, but every time somebody does a Google search and gets an AI response.. we will all be paying for it. We're so smart.

Question When are we gonna talk about the youth job market?
This topic is just not being talked about. I graduated a few months ago and I’m still unemployed (save for a summer job). I’m so sick of hearing about this referendum nonsense when real issues are just being kicked aside, both federally and provincially.
Does anyone have any advise as to what to do? I’m going mentally insane being at home all day with nothing to do other than to suck up to companies I don’t give a shit about.

Opinion Slave Lake Healthcare Center
Stay far away from this place. People literally die here/ get worse because their nursing staff is incompetent. Or a few long term/tenure ones are and have been allowed to ride free on a power trip. Some of the doctors are good but I know from first hand experience they’ve missed heart attacks, sepsis, and killed people due to negligence.

Question Wish to hear from CTSC (Certified Transportation Safety Coordinator).
Alright sorry to bother again but I need genuine advice on this role CTSC (Certified Transportation Safety Coordinator) which I am going to pursue before I end up paying $3k fees in total. I am switching entirely into a new field. Did some research on Youtube but couldn’t get much information about a real Job.
Background/Personal Info : Into 40s (male), worked as a Quality Supervisor, Operations/Management support and mostly worked for BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and Call centre companies, you can say a Computer guy.
My Hesitations/Concerns:
1. Does this Job needs any Practical exposure for Transportation field or you learn while you study and work ?
2. Can a person from Non-transportation/Security field succeed as a CTSC ?
3. How does a normal day for a CTSC look like ?
4. Is it more of a Physical challenging Job ?
5. Does it have a Work life balance ?
6. I left studies long time ago so not good with Maths or any or any High Aptitude skills incase needed later either to clear any tricky Exam or on field.
7. Does it have a good pay scale if we continue building experience and get lucky with a decent company to work with?
My apologies for asking so many Qs but any tips from CTSC is appreciated ❤️

Question How to deal with basement tenant smoking weed in unit?
Hey I'm a father of 2, a 7 year old boy and a 2 year old daughter. We are subleasing our basement with permission from our landlord but I'm 99% sure the basement tenant is smoking weed inside
Occasionally we smell weed through the vents sometimes my kid complains it stinks like a skunk and my wife has noticed it stinks as well. I've asked her if she's smoked in the unit and she denied it. I smoke weed but only outside with a vape late at night so I know it's not mine, I've told her I don't mind if she smokes but it has to be outside, she claims she only smokes outside. Guests even noticed the house stinks like weed.
My question is how can I deal with it? I've asked nicely multiple times but it doesn't seem like she cares.

Oil and Gas If UCP can't get a pipeline now they shouldn't ever be supported again.
Not interested in arguments of pipeline good or bad. It is clear its a goal of Alberta premiers. With Con majority in BC, the federal memorandum, AND a pipeline on the national project status list, if they cant land this plane now they shouldn't ever have the trust of pro-resource development voters again.

Discussion What does it take to move beyond homelessness in Alberta? Graham shares his firsthand experience
We’re BeTheChangeYYC, a registered Calgary charity providing volunteer-powered street outreach.
We recently launched Hear Their Voices YYC, an interview series focused on hearing directly from people who have experienced homelessness.
Our first episode features Graham, who previously experienced homelessness and now uses that experience to support others through frontline street outreach.
During the 35-minute conversation, Graham discusses the barriers he encountered when trying to find housing, moments of compassion that stayed with him, and what he wishes people understood about homelessness.
We believe conversations about homelessness in Alberta should include the people who have lived through it.
You can watch Graham’s full interview here:
https://youtu.be/iSeYaq6XLx0
For those living or working in Alberta, what practical changes do you think would make the greatest difference for someone trying to move from homelessness into stable housing?
We’re interested in hearing different perspectives and having a constructive discussion.

Separatism Referendum Procedural Errors
From Elections Alberta:
Delays in receiving and recording unofficial counts are due to procedural errors made in voting places on Election Day. Multiple voting areas, which are smaller divisions within an electoral division, can be served by a single voting place. Legislative changes made in 2025 require results for Election Day voting to be reported by voting area, rather than by voting place. To support this change and make that reporting possible, all voting place election officers were provided with, trained, and instructed to use one full set of ballot boxes for each voting area served in that voting place. There were many as 11 voting areas in a single voting place.
Several voting places across the province used one set of ballot boxes for all voting areas. Elections Alberta Returning Officers’ teams are able to separate most of the ballots based on the initials of the election officer who issued the ballot, which are contained on the back of each ballot. This is a very time-consuming process. The legislated requirement to hand-count all votes means this process is entirely manual.
Is this why one of the polling stations in Edmonton shut down for a while?
Why did so many polling stations make this mistake? Was training lacking?
I'm especially curious as many people seemed to be wary of special ballots, but based on the delays a polling station in my riding near me did this incorrectly with ballots cast on the 18th.

Question Oil bankruptcies and rural property tax
Everyone, I'm dead curious what happened to that whole oil companies would go bankrupt in rural areas and would leave huge amounts of unpaid property taxes in their towns. I'm curious where the cash is going to come from, or do they just lose the services. I'm assuming the provincial government is going to cover it. Can someone confirm what happened?

Separatism I Won’t Forgive You, Danielle Smith
As a proud immigrant Canadian who has called Alberta home for 50 years, these are the reasons I will not forgive Danielle Smith:
… for misrepresenting the intentions of those of us who signed the Forever Canadian petition.
I signed that petition to compel a vote on the floor of the Legislature, urging UCP MLAs to stand up publicly and vote on a clear resolution affirming Alberta’s commitment to remaining part of Canada. I did not sign it to call for a referendum. Yet you changed the rules along the way, creating the impression that Forever Canadian supporters wanted one. You took my clear commitment to Canada and turned it into something it was never meant to be.
… for allowing separatists to hijack the governing party rather than requiring them to follow the established democratic process.
If separatists want to take Alberta out of Canada, they should have to form an explicitly separatist political party, run candidates in a general election on a transparent platform that makes clear a vote for them is a vote to leave Canada, and win enough seats to form government. We deserve that - not a separatist agenda advanced from within a governing party elected on a totally different mandate.
… for the way you have used immigration-related referendum questions to fuel anti-immigrant sentiment.
When I first came to Canada at the age of 14, I experienced tremendous racism. “My people” were blamed for taking low-paying jobs and buying up homes. What people failed to acknowledge was that we often had to buy because nobody would rent to us brown people.
After decades of living without being subjected to such hostility, I was recently accosted by an elderly white man who told me, “You people are not grateful for us allowing you into this country.”
This time, I had the courage to respond: “F*ck off. Mind your own f*cking business.” At 14, I did not have the confidence to stand up for myself that way.
It is heartbreaking to find myself confronting this kind of racism again, more than five decades later.
Yes, the federal government has mishandled immigration. But your government has also failed to plan adequately for the employment, housing, schools, and hospitals needed to support a growing population. I remember when you wanted to increase Alberta’s population to ten million and the ‘Alberta is calling!’ campaign. Where was the comprehensive plan to support that growth?
Instead of taking responsibility for these structural failures, your government is allowing immigrants to become the scapegoats. Once again, “my people” are being blamed for problems that governments should have anticipated and addressed.
… for creating the impression, across Canada and around the world, that Alberta—and, by extension, Canada—is hostile to immigrants.
We risk being seen as no different from our neighbours to the south, where anti-immigrant rhetoric has become a defining feature of political discourse. That is not the Alberta I believe in, nor is it the Canada I chose to make my home. Sadly today the term ‘immigrant’ refers to people of colour.
… for making me worry, even for a second, that my daughters might one day live in a different country from their parents.
My two daughters were born and raised in Alberta. They pursued post-secondary education and employment in Ontario, a province that welcomed these Alberta-born Canadians and gave them opportunities to build their lives. Yet your actions have made me contemplate the unthinkable: that the country in which my daughters and I have built our lives could one day be divided, leaving us citizens of different countries.
I have spent 51 years building my life in Canada, contributing to my community and raising my family. I built my career here and co-own a business that provides livelihood to many families. I will continue to stand up for the Canada I believe in. I will continue to speak out against racism and division.
A Forever Canadian,
Almoonir Dewji
