Discussion PSA: Strength++ 2.0 is out

I know most of my users for Strength++ came from this sub, so it seems fitting to announce that after 2 years, it now received the biggest update yet.

So, what's new:

  • Now it's 100% free - I had to go this route due to trader constraints in the EU
  • Support for iOS 26 and Liquid Glass
  • New Ul, everything has been rebuilt from the ground up, both in the iPhone and Watch App
  • Possibility to rename your exercises for a recorded workout. Remember what you did last time!
  • Apple Watch Ultra Action Button Support
  • On device Al workout analysis using Apple Intelligence
  • Many bug fixes and improvements

So yeah, it's kinda nice, if anyone needs a strength training app without too much hassle and complexity.

Just go to the gym, record, keep track of exercises, sets, reps and weights used, go home, add names to your exercises, maybe use apple intelligence to analyze your workouts and get suggestions for the next one.

90 minutes on my walking pad before lunch (without leaving my desk)

Finally got my boss to say yes to a walking pad at work lol. I've been using a deerrun pad under my desk for about two weeks now.

Today I got 90 minutes of walking in the morning just answering emails and doing my usual work. I used to spend most of the day sitting, so seeing that number on my Apple Watch was pretty satisfying!

Does anyone actually use Training Load, or do you just ignore the effort ratings?

The watch gives every workout an effort score and lets you adjust it afterwards, and honestly I mostly just leave whatever it guessed. I get the idea, it compares the last 7 days against the last 28 so you can see if you're ramping up too fast, but I'm not sure how many people really look at it.

Do you bother rating your sessions? And has it ever actually changed what you did that week, like backing off a bit or pushing more because it said you were below your usual?

Questions about Workoutdoors and Vanoor

Hi,

I’m considering buying WorkOutDoors but have a quick question about music controls.

Can you swipe left during a workout to access music controls, like in the native Apple Workout app? And can you adjust the volume using the Digital Crown?

This doesn’t work in Strava, but it does in Vanoor, so I was wondering if WOD supports it too.

Also, would you recommend WorkOutDoors over Vanoor, or vice versa?

Thanks!

Bowling workout

What is the best way to use the bowling workout on Apple Watch?

I bowl twice a week but it artificially ups my data even when I’m sitting waiting to bowl.

Finally making progress!

7/23 I was 27.4. Started working out and it began creeping up but I was stuck in below average for over a year while it crept up. Now it’s moving a lot easier and I’m running a lot faster.

I built an AI coach you can ask from your Apple Watch mid-set — what would you actually want it to do?

Hi all — I'm a solo dev and a former athlete. I've been building a workout app where an AI coach plans your session and talks you through it, and I just finished the Apple Watch part. Before it goes public on Nov 11 I'd love some honest input from people who actually train with their watch.

What the watch does right now:

- Start a workout from the wrist, see the current exercise, set and live heart rate

- Rest timer that shows when you're over your planned rest

- "Ask Coach" — hold to talk and ask something mid-set ("is 185 too heavy?", "swap this exercise")

What I'm unsure about:

  1. Do you actually want to talk to a coach mid-set, or is that just annoying when you're breathing hard?

  2. What's the ONE thing you'd want on the watch screen during a set — HR, rest, next exercise, reps?

  3. Haptics for rest-over: useful or distracting?

The app is free to try (it's called Cubex Fitness), not trying to sell anything here — I genuinely want to get the watch experience right. Beta link in the comments if anyone wants to test it.

Anyone else feel surprisingly refreshed on a Monday after a lazy weekend? 😂

Apparently, a relaxing weekend was exactly what my body needed 😂

Monday morning: Readiness 9, HRV 77ms, sleep score 93.

Feeling surprisingly refreshed for a Monday!

Does anyone else notice their HRV or recovery scores bouncing back after a restful weekend? Or do Mondays still hit like a truck? 😂

I’m not dying for the award, but it would be nice to look at and see for myself 😭
I’ve been working towards beating this goal for a long time, and it’s annoying that I can’t see it.

I did a warm-up and then “work” and a cool down. I use bevel, and it shows that I got a PR of 24:44!? Anyone know how to fix this or why this happened?

Do you actually look at your watch during runs, or mostly at the summary after?

I keep going back and forth on this one. Glancing at pace every few seconds can make an easy run feel like a test, but ignoring the screen completely means you only find out afterwards that you went out way too fast.

So how do you all do it? Watch the numbers live and adjust, lean on the audio alerts, or just look at the summary afterwards? And is it different on easy days versus harder sessions?

Why my Apple Watch Thinks I can Walk 2.75 Miles in 9 Minutes

Post image
3 Upvotes

My Apple Watch SE refused to update my 2.75 miles walk today. I walked 72 minutes around the park and it doesn’t update. I have already restarted my iPhone 15 Pro and the watch. It registered my 7-minute walk but not the 72-minute walk from earlier.

Chest strap? Alternatives to wearing as a watch

My primary mode of fitness is martial arts, so not always conducive to wearing a watch. Is there a chest strap or some other alternative to still measure my training?

[20 PROMO CODES] HangSpine — a dead-hang timer for Apple Watch that starts the moment you grab the bar

a climber tested my dead-hang app on a hangboard this week and someone told me $5.99 was too much for it — both fair. so I asked Apple for promo codes and they gave me 20.

the app: your watch senses when you grab the bar and starts timing by itself. let go, it stops. every hang logged, synced to your iPhone, stays in your own iCloud.

  • auto start/stop detection, all on-device — nothing leaves your wrist
  • hang angle, duration per rep, sets, bests — year/month/day views
  • no accounts, no servers, no subscription, one-time $5.99

how to get a code: comment here or DM me and I'll send one over, in order. once the 20 are gone it's back to $5.99 — and if you try it, an honest App Store review helps way more than the money.

— I'm the developer and I hang every day.

UPDATE — v1.0.5 with training plans is in review, lands in the next day or two: a 4-week block planner with phases, a coach that builds your weekly hang plan (cloud AI or fully on-device, your choice), plans pushed straight to the watch, per-set RPE logging, and a 6-month heatmap so you watch the habit build instead of single sessions. same auto-start timer at the core, codes below still live. full walkthrough with screenshots: https://williamyorkl.github.io/HangSpine-site/en/105.html

Active calories are 600 according to health app (connected to Apple Watch) but my move ring is only at 300. Why?

I’ve always thought move ring measures active calories. For some reason it isn’t incorporating all the active calories I’ve burnt from all my workouts today. I’ve burnt 600 active calories from my workouts but my whole move ring is only at 300. Why is this happening?
