Chenoweth the likely new hitting coach per STL Sports Central

I read somewhere that if St. Louis promoted from within, then it was less likely that Brant Brown was let go for philosophical reasons, and was more let go to let someone more likely to be here longer term take the wheel.

Cardinals Payroll

Post image
• Upvotes

Just wanted to share this and get your guys thoughts on this new data coming out regarding teams payroll and how cheap they are. Its supposed to take into account market size, cost of living, and revenue to make a chart.

https://youtu.be/PBuJ0iKEIWA?is=mgAzAq5VQQMkgZS3

In my opinion it is a point of evidence for what fans have been saying for years in that the Dewitts dont spend money.

I also find it hilarious that this shows that the Cubs are the cheapest team in Baseball.

Outsider here! Looking for a Cardinals fan who plays fantasy baseball

I am recruiting for a MLB-realistic 30T Salary Cap dynasty baseball league that is currently about halfway full. We are trying to fill the teams with owners who are fans of that team, and the Cardinals are one of our open teams right now. We use real player salaries and have a hard cap as well as a salary floor. It's super active and tons of fun, so I hope you consider joining us and repping the Cards! DM or comment below for more info.

What Happens After Two Teammates Have 100 RBIs But Team Finishes Under .500…

Having two (or more) players drive in 100 or more runs in a single season is typically a hallmark of a winning, playoff-caliber club. However, when run production is overwhelmed by poor pitching or a weak roster, even historic run generation results in a losing record. MLB history only has only a few examples of teams that have turned it around after this event happens, most likely because it’s harder to rebuild your pitching staff when they stink, compared to rebuilding a lineup.

Additionally, when a player captures an individual RBI title while playing for a sub-.500 team, the franchise typically falls into one of two categories over the subsequent two seasons:
1. A Fire Sale & Deep Rebuild: The franchise decides they cannot compensate for pitching or depth deficiencies, trades a star or two, and bottoms out.
2. A "One Year Away" Foundation: The star hitter serves as the offensive bedrock while young pitching arrives, catapulting the team into contention within two seasons.

After looking at previous instances of these scenarios there are almost zero examples of an immediate turnaround, but it makes sense when your pitching is horrendous and you need both vets and rookies to come in and gel, to catapult you into the playoff picture.

Baez prior jersey numbers?

Recently got this card with him in a #84 jersey. Also seen others like this sold too. From what I was able to gather reading online, he’s often worn #22 even before his MLB debut. I’m guessing the #84 may have been a once-off or limited timeframe thing at some point?

At my kids baseball game, I look out and notice one of the coaches of the other team. Take a guess who it is :)

Derrick Goold "Best Podcast in Baseball" finally back...

BPIB took a long break this summer, almost 4 months. I missed it a lot, turns out Goold lost his voice.

2 new episodes in October. The first is an interview with Terry Lemons, author of "The Year St. Louis became a baseball town: The Cardinals, Babe Ruth, and 1926 world series." Pretty interesting discussion around the Cards first world series. The last out in game 7? Yankees down 1, Ruth on first, 2 outs. Bob Meusel up, Lou Gehrig on deck. Ruth tries to steal 2nd, tagged out by Rogers Hornsby. Great story

Most recent episode was with Baseball America's Geoff Pontes discussing minor league prospects. He is very high on the Cards system, both in terms of depth, and high end prospects, Rodriguez, Doyle, Franklin, to the Baez's, to guys that might not be in the top 30 for Pontes, like Jake Gurevitch, who he said would be mid teens for Houston or Toronto. Really upbeat, more promising system than I was aware of, and I knew they had a good system. Power arms and bats.

Not sure if this is an on topic post, but wanted to particularly hilite the prospect discussion, Goold's interviews are for hard core baseball fans.I
