Just enclosed the entire balcony using deer fence and a staple gun, any recommendations for cat items to put in the small side space in the second picture? It's about 1.5ft wide and 2.5ft deep.

DIY (or not?) cat door insert for sliding glass door

Hello!

I built a 10x8 catio that is behind the house which is awesome. My cats love to go out. I would like to have almost 24/7 access for the cats while keeping cold/heat/insects so I'm looking to build one of the cat door insert that I can keep with sliding door 'closed'

Is there any suggestion what i can do? Should i use wood or plastic or whatever. I want to be able to remove it easy when I want.

Thanks

how to screen this patio into a catio?

I'm not exactly experienced in stuff like this, but I really would like to set up an outdoor space for them. I feel like because it's already a patio, it should be easier than all those fully custom built catios, but I don't know how to do any of this so I'm not sure what materials I'd need and where I'd start with this

What screen should I get?

I have a large patio that I want to screen in for the cats. Ideally I would like it to be small enough mesh to exclude flies and mosquitoes. One cat is feral and the other two are only a year old. I expect they are going to test the screen.

Catio causing issues with outdoor cats

Unfortunately a lot of my neighbors have outdoor cats (least I think so, that or my neighborhood has some very shiny and fat strays) and I think the catio kind of aggravates them. One or multiple of them regularly come by to spray on the catio, and they've also started leaving uncovered poop in the yard. Anyone dealt with this? How would you approach fixing the issue? I didn't even realize my neighborhood had so many loose cats, but once I put the catio into use I've seen like 5 different cats start regularly passing through my yard.

Just curious if anyone from the UK have recommendations for someone living in the north west? I have a company in mind but I wanted to see if anyone had good experiences with other more local companies!

Apartment window catio?

Looking for inspiration for this second floor apartment window. My cats are used to a double catio with multilevel shelves and I’d like to at least give them some outside exposure. Maybe even a dog crate sitting on a wedge of some sort? Any ideas would be great!

Help with Omlet Tunnel Stand Connection

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hi, is there anyone who has the Omlet tunnels+stands (or who's generally handy) who could help me figure out how to properly connect these tunnel stand brackets to the tunnel bottoms? I assumed it was just going to be a standard screw-in situation, but the middle holes don't have threads to screw in (pic 3 has a comparison of the holes that do have threads at the edges of the tunnel). I don't have any hardware left from the stand boxes, and this bag of tunnel fixings seemed like my best bet. The screws are too fat to fit in the holes. Do I need to force them with a drill or something? Do I need different parts? I'm not a handy person and I'm pretty far out of my comfort zone, thanks for any help you can offer!

Would this any a good catio? Does anyone have anything similar?

I have six indoor cats that love to go outside. I never let them outside unsupervised as we welcome birds to our yard. Because I have so many cats I feel like I need something bigger to give them ample space but I worry about if the thin wire fence is enough.

I did purchase plans to build one but I don’t have the time or energy right now.

I’d love any advice or recommendations.

Context: townhouse. Want to improve our catio setup which fully encloses our main floor patio. Can’t drill into building envelope. Want to use materials that preserve our view best we can as it’s our only windows on this level. One side of the patio does not have a railing to brace anything with. Canadian.

Looking for any product recommendations. Design ideas. Inspiration. I’m extremely burnt out and trying to remain functional, didn’t need another project but neighbor complained so now we have to change our set up so he can’t complain anymore. Funny how no one has an issue with all the custom dog runs in our complex but a catio is his problem.

Newly done catio; need advice on what to fill it with!

I have five cats and want to give them an enriching and safe environment; so I wanted to give them an outdoor experience besides walking, and decided to enclose an uncovered porch.

First time doing something DIY; was and is a super fun experience! I was really lucky to have a carpenter friend to direct questions to, help with securing the joists, lending tools, and making sure things were safe! Learned so so much and started a tool collection of my own.

However, it’s quite empty and I’m not too sure what features for cats to add that they would enjoy, look nice, and be space efficient.

It is a 20’ x 12’ space, with the height spanning from 6’ (sorry tall people) to 7’5”. (Side note: very inadequate roof pitch, fingers crossed no problems in the winter 🥶). Last picture is how it originally was.

Currently has a 11” wide bare sanded cedar walkway along the front two corner areas of the catio, with 13” x 13” viewing platforms at the very corners.

First thing I was thinking to add perhaps was an intermediate step or two for the cats to get on and off the walkway, but I’m not sure where to place them.

Any suggestions would be very welcome, thank you! 😊

I work in tech as a consultant. We had a bare wood storage shed and wanted to finish it and build an outdoor extension for it also. This is what I ended up building. I used peg board for the ceiling because the shed had no soffits for air flow if I insulated it. I learned some of the cuts from YouTube.
I learned a lot throughout the process and made mistakes. It’s not perfect but I don’t think the cats will notice. Just me!

Catio suggestions

Hi! I live in a woodsy area in New Jersey, and we have a nice big backyard so I’d love to get a large catio but we don’t have unlimited funds, I’d love to stay under $700 but every catio kit i seen doesn’t seem like it would withstand being outdoors especially through our harsh winters. My husband says the wood will rot. He suggested getting a chicken coup because it’s all metal.. but they look so boring. I don’t plan on leaving them in the catio at night, I’d lock them inside at night, just during the day they can have access. Any suggestions?? Please help.

For background, my cats were previously indoor/outdoor and had complete free rein of the neighborhood for two whole years since I’ve moved here, but my cat came home with a ruptured abscess the other day that scared me straight. I have four cats. They’ve been inside for ten days now and they’re crying less at the door but still whining and in bad moods. I’d love to get this catio quick so they can enjoy the fall weather. Idk if i should buy a kit, but a coup, or get one installed but budget is an issue.

DIY catio build

Just finished my DIY catio build. Pretty basic and definitely not professionally built by any means.
Used mainly 2x4s, subfloor, chicken wire, and marine carpet for the build. I will say, marine carpet is the way to go if you want to add scratch posts or just carpet in general. It’s made for boats and decks, so it’s water and mold resistant. As well as easy to clean. Not sure how I feel about the chicken wire. It was pretty cheap, but a bit difficult to work with and make look good due to its flexibility. I would probably go with something thicker and less flexible if I did it again. Let me know what you think and if you have any questions about it! Costed me about $250-$300 for everything. The dimensions are 8ft x 4ft x 6ft tall.
