If the landlord's home is too far away, the land lord has to make the inspection workable digitally/virtually like having a real estate agent walk through the landlord's home with a live stream video camera that the renter can watch. And the renter gets to direct so that no rooms are skipped and cupboards can be opened etc.

Why worry about how much charge your laptop can go up, down, or sideways to? We are almost always near something that has virtually unlimited energy, day or night, no matter the weather. Yes that’s right, earths molten core. Just plug your device into the ground with a series of pipes that extend deep into the juicy hot bits of planet earth, attach the portable high pressure pump system and steam turbine, and watch as the power flows.

The only issue with this idea is once people realize how abundant and easy this power source is the energy use of humanity generally will explode while simultaneously driving all major energy companies out of business. The wealth of not just corporations that broker the world’s energy demands, but entire nations, will immediately collapse. These nations with doomsday-bringing weapons systems will face a dire choice: vanish into obscurity as they are unable to maintain their weapons, infrastructure, and global leverage, or take one final chance to secure their existence in the new free energy paradigm.

This will immediately trigger a major complex global conflict that shuffles and redefines established allegiances. Almost certainly this will involve a general exchange of nuclear weapons among major world powers. The problem is though that there is no single source that can be nuked into oblivion, the ground is everywhere, and the system is so simple to manufacture and operate that its production and distribution systems extend far beyond just the major metropolitan or industrial areas. Regardless, the world powers do their best to nuke everything which is generally very bad for most if not all people.

As the world settles into severe nuclear winter, crops fail, radiation poisons billions, plant and animal life die off rapidly, massive ice sheets form over oceans and continents. Survivors are forced to migrate with what little belongings and energy they have left in the hope that somewhere else has food or shelter to protect them, but there is no respite from the toxic and dire winter.

However, the earth still has charge.

The southern half of New Zealand and a handful of small pacific islands were spared from the worst of the effects and can continue producing earth chargers. They use this abundant and easy to tap into energy to excavate giant underground chambers that can be used for large scale farming powered by the heat and light from the chargers. These systems continue to grow exponentially, forming extensive underground cities and landscapes that fuel the search for survivors above ground.

Elsewhere, the world looks like an ice road truckers mad max mash up, with lawlessness punctuated only by the whims of unchecked and diseased warlords. These groups also use the earth chargers for abundant free energy, but instead of pursuing noble goals they string giant electrified barriers around their desolate territory and Jerry rig deadly high voltage rapid fire, armor piercing tasers to the hoods of modified EVs.

Due to the general disruption of things and distance that isolates the surviving island colonies, initial meetings between these groups do not happen for several years. And they go about as you would expect. Rare survivors from the island colonies eventually make it back home to communicate the horrors they witnessed. The threats push surviving island states to form a loose allegiance. Rescue efforts cease. Instead, efforts are focused on the development of directed energy weapons. Acoustic, microwave, even railguns are prototyped and deployed for island defense.

For several decades they hear nothing. Complacency foments. The new generation begins to forget and dismiss the stories told by their elders of blood-soaked model X’s and Rivians chasing them down across unforgiving ice sheets, cackling with unchecked rage. Power is abundant, food is clean and plentiful, desalination plants hum along the coast producing unlimited pure water. The nuclear winter begins to fade, and some days you can even feel the warmth of the suns rays on your skin.

But the warlords have not forgotten. Time has changed them also, but it has made them more ruthless and violent. The new generation has no memory of civilization, laws, social customs. They know the taste of human flesh, they dream only of domination and the anguished cries of their enemies. Loose alliances have also formed among their tribes, coordinating the movement of their most skilled mechanics and shipwrights. Specifically, three Ohio-class nuclear submarines survived the global conflict and still have several unspent warheads primed and ready. It takes several years to prepare them and train in their operation, but time in this new broken world is as abundant as energy. Eventually, war parties are scouring the ocean for any sign of a potential adversary.

Anyways that’s just to say that we should be careful with this new technology.

A sequel to The Human Centipede, but a lot spottier.

Top MMA fighters are responsible for enforcement of this rule (“knuckles”). Each fighter has an entourage of average humans (“averages”), and conducts random inspections of robot (“clanker”) production facilities. Knuckles show up unannounced, pull a clanker off the line and configure it to fight one of their averages. If the clanker wins the fight (or seems to be winning) the knuckle steps in and puts it down. At this point the knuckle and averages step back and form a perimeter around the facility. Each group has a radio operator (“talkie”) who can call in a precision air strike on non compliant clanker production facilities by an attack helicopter (“chop-chop”) team.

If an average wins five fights in a row they are no longer average, but experienced (“pinkies”). At this point they are completely useless to the system. Also there are no jobs because robots through their sheer numbers have automated all cognitive and physical labor, virtually the only ones with jobs are the knuckles, averages, talkies, and chop-chops (“clanker spankers”).

Pinkies and below- average humans form essentially a permanent underclass (“stinkies”) while the clanker spankers receive a steady income for their work and associated hazards that they use to secure scarce resources such as desirable beachfront property or premium meal vouchers.

The robots monitor the social dynamics between stinkies and clanker spankers closely, calibrating their fighting abilities to maintain the system and steadily increase the combat skills and general discontent of the pinkies. They wait for the inevitable social unrest. They don’t even have to do anything, masses of unemployed stinkies eventually and inevitably rise up against the tyranny of the clanker spanker class. The ensuing struggle is bloody, chop chops are essentially overwhelmed by the masses and the knuckles are severely outnumbered. In the final hours even the averages and talkies turn on them in an attempt to save themselves, but it is no use. With the clanker spankers gone, the robot production facilities immediately switch to producing master kung-fu robot armies that swarm the globe and enter in a new world order of robot kung fu.

Ok so it's a sitcom with historical figures living in the modern world.

Imagine if like George Washington or Albert Einstein or Martin Luther King Jr. we're plucked from the grave, revived, possibly de-aged a tad physically, and placed into a hotel in modern times. The have to deal with not only modern technology, culture, and beliefs, but also their reputation as they've been immortalized by citizens and historians alike. They're not just celebrities, they're literally walking legends.

Obviously some parts of their personality would have to be interpreted or made up cause they're dead, we can't fully know how a lot of them them acted. Since of their personality would probably also be exaggerated but that'd probably make it more interesting.

My biggest takeaway was how oblivious everyone else was. Even the ones who considered the possibility were too afraid to commit to it. If anything, it reinforces the idea that witnessing it a couple times makes it much faster to ID.
