How to get funding for an engineering capstone project

1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

My team and I are working on our engineering capstone project, and we’re struggling to secure funding to get it off the ground.

For those of you who have been through this process, what are the best ways to get funding? Have you had success with grants, reaching out to companies, crowdfunding, or other methods?

I’d really appreciate any advice, resources, or personal experiences you could share. Thanks!

Short project description:

a water-quality monitoring system designed to detect abnormal environmental conditions and identify potential pollution risks in local waterways. We’re collaborating with Charlotte Water and engineering mentors

Need help with OMNET++

1 Upvotes

I installed OMNET++ 6.4.0 , veins 5.3.1 and inet 4.7.0.

I am currently trying to run the veins_inet subproject. And i keep running into the same error.

Class " veins :: VeinsInetManager" not found.

I checked the .ned files for both the VeinsInetManager and Scenario and the .ini files to make sure the spelling is correct and make sure the pacakage and import paths are correct. Everything seems in order.

Does anyone have a solution or could help me with any tip ?

What type of energy technologies do you think will be game changing by 2045?

0 Upvotes

Hello everyone, hope you’re all doing well! I’m a first year engineering student and have to design a project called “the circular economy 2045” with a scope in the energy sector - particularly energy storage, usage and generation.

The project is based on an urban district for roughly 25,00 residents in the year 2045. The overall aim is to generate a city that runs on innovative and advanced energy technology. At the moment I’m researching new energy technology that’s hopefully, modern and sort of “in the process” / futuristic and not solutions that are already widely used - marks are going for innovation and fresh ideas.

I’m looking into emerging tech that could significantly improve how a city or economy generates, stores, manages and produces its energy in a sustainable way.

Currently, I’m looking into 2 ideas; Thermal energy storage, and electrochemical storage systems. ( these are the storage systems that I’m looking into, now I’ve to research the generation methods - where the energy comes from, how it’s converted, and how it’ll be used. )

I would love to hear some more ideas that any of you might have relating to this project, and any underrated tech or innovations that deserve more attention. Thank you all very much!
