Purple kale question

I bought purple kale, put it into a soup. The soup has now turned a deep purple, but the kale has turned green. Is this normal or did I just buy normal kale does purple?

Name that Baby Kale!

Howdy Internet!

So a good friend of mine is having a kale crisis. He often shops for Baby Kale at whole foods. Usually, the variety he gets looks like this:

"Normal" Baby Kale. What variety is this?!

He likes this Baby Kale. This kale makes him happy.

However, sometimes the only Baby Kale they have looks like this:

Baby Kale #2

He does not like this Baby Kale. This kale makes him sad.

They are both simply labeled "Baby Kale".

Does anyone know the specific varieties of these two types of kale?

Kale looks great, but has strong smell?

I go through two heads of kale a week for about a year now. I am used to seeing some turning yellow, and getting little black spots. But this is a first for me: the kale I brought home from the supermarket looks great (very green, no yellow or black spots, super crisp, not wilty). But it smells! I wouldn't quite say sulfur, but it's an unpleasant smell! Is it still ok to eat? I washed it real well, but it still has a bit of a smell. Thanks!

Best spices for Kale chips?

To make a long story short I'm having a kale chip cook off today and realised I don't know what spices I could use, the judge isnt a fan of spicy foods and I was wondering what spices I should be using.
