SURVEY GamerGate Political Attitudes Survey - 12 Years Later
Hello all,
Allum Bokhari here. As some of you might remember, during the hallowed months of 2014, I conducted a political survey of GamerGaters that was published at the now-defunct GamePolitics. You can still read the results here.
I'm currently writing a book on GamerGate with Passage Publishing, and would like to once again survey GGers to determine how much - or how little - everyone's attitudes have changed.
While most questions involve checking boxes, there are a few that allow for text responses. Please avoid putting any identifying/doxable information in these.
The survey will run for about three days, closing early morning Tuesday. It takes about 15-20 minutes to complete.

Note - messaged HatMan from my X account to verify. Am told mods will pin the thread soon.

We are still looking for a few new moderators to join the team to help keep working the mod queue. If you want to keep this place open please apply. We're getting tired boss.
Rule 3 does not apply as this will be just comments, though the other subreddit rules and sitewide rules obviously will still apply.

IGN China went savage mode.
Activate the subtitles. It's right at the begining of the video. It is saying:
" ln the foreseeable future, when Western game creators are stuck in a creative rut, held hostage by political correctness, and bound by highly industrialized commercial logic, producing one mass-produced, industrially garbage game after another, then let Chinese game creators teach them a lesson and make them relearn what a high- quality, content-rich AAA game should look like."

I hate that people in fandom culture think that just because you are a man who is attracted to men you must like bara
I don't expect people here to empathize with my points since I know that all fans of sexy male characters have attacked female fanservice, and I also condemn them specifically because I'm bisexual not gay, and also that my problems are too specific to myself but I also feel that if I don't get this out of my chest I might die.
Does any male anime fan that is attracted to male characters kinda hate that you are expected to like bara?
I completely despise bara and I'm a man, I kn
There are things I hate really strongly: female yaoi fans , and feminist Yuri fans, but something I hate really hard is the complete virtue signaling superiority complex of some bara fans and how they treat their precious genre.
You have to always have the same taste like if you are a hive mind, you have to always like either super buff men or super fat men.
I would not hate them nearly as much of they decided that they loved bara just because they liked that type of male character, but when they have to talk about how much superior of a design bara and how other male characters are so fucking generic, when a lot not all but a lot of their art is the same tanned man with the same face and expression is funny.
The second thing is that people assume that just because geikomi are stories written by lgtb people for lgtb people that they are more purer and the whole representation thingie and don't have muh problematic tropes and muh toxic dynamics, when a lot of their content features cousin x nephew incest, some have even made something called shotabara, or what about the author people hail when talking about gay representation in Japan gengoroh tagame, who wrote about multiple rape stories including father x son incest, or what about bara gacha games like crave saga, I would be much more sympathetic to them if they didn't have that pathetic superiority complex.
And third of all because of barafans people tend to assume that every male attracted man into anime should be into bara, and you can't like bishounens because only women are allowed to like bishounens, and if you are a man who is attracted to male characters you must like bara, and not every male attracted man is the same

Layoffs at Sucker Punch (Ghost Of Yotei developer)
"After carefully observing the challenges in the market and reviewing the team needs for our next project, we've decided to make some staffing reductions. Several positions across Sucker Punch will be eliminated as a result."
"We know this is a lot to take in, and we want to assure you that we did not make this decision lightly. We have given this a lot of attention and worked to support our affected colleagues during this transition as well as we can. … There's no getting around that this is a hard day. Next week we will go into more details about the future"

Smut? Dark romance? Let's call things by their name, shall we?
Dark romance?
Smut?
Can't we just call it porn? Because that's what smut/dark romance actually is! Porn!
I don't understand why authors and readers can't just use the hentai/porn tag instead of pulling out of nowhere "dark romance" and "smut."
Besides, I don't understand either why many women act like dark romance/smut novels are something deep and thought-provoking... when they're just porn. Can't these female readers admit they're just as horny and perverted as the average anime anime fan?
I wanted to discuss about this very specific topic because of a dark romance novel called Morning Glory Milking Farm...
I can't believe I have written something like that...
This very specific novel is about... well... a woman who masturbates minotaurs (with very detailed descriptions to boot) to make creams for men's medicines... I guess...
Do you find this novel's premise extremely close to the plot of the naughtiest hentai doujin ever made?
Me too...
"Of course not! Dark romance/smut is deep, is thought-provoking, and is wholesome!! Your hentai anime bullshit is just mindless, misogynistic crap for the male gaze!!!"
Sigh...
Comments like this are very hypocrital, because many of the people who defends smut/dark romance with arguments like this one, are the same ones who judge others because of the kind of media they consume. As if smut/dark romance were very different from many hentai doujins... when that's not the case.
Besides, it's ironic how many of these defenders believe they're paragons of light and moral superiority when calling out "problematic" content, and even demanding for its removal. Because if we compare the average isekai anime (aka the average male power fantasy) with the average dark romance novel (aka the average female power fantasy), the average dark romance novel is much more extreme than the average isekai anime in terms of lewd content. What do you consider more outrageous?
- A story about a male character with no personality who gets an harem full of scantily clad tiddy waifus.
- A story about a female character being drugged and humilliated in +18 ways by a crowd.
Let's be honest, a fantasy anime with a female character wearing a bikini armor is nothing compared to many smut/dark romance novels about rape, humilliation, toxic relationships, and more NSFW stuff.
"Is there something wrong with women enjoying lewd stuff?"
No, not at all. Men and women can enjoy and read whatever they want, as long as they're not harming real people. Fiction is just that, fiction. There's nothing wrong with someone enjoying a hentai doujin, and there's nothing wrong with someone enjoying a dark romance novel. As long as nobody gets hurt IRL, they can do whatever they want.
What I do have a problem with is the, nonetheless, is with hypocrisy and arrongance.
I don't like how someone who brags about reading novels full of exploitation feel entitled to moralize and accuse others of being criminals just because they enjoy X anime or Y manga, or even worse, ask for the removal of the content you find "problematic."
I mean, if we're going to get moralistic over shady content in fiction (something I already consider stupid because, like I said before, we're talking about fictional stuff), then dark romance/smut novels should receive the same level of scrunity Berkserk and Evangelion get due to their respective "problematic" content, if not more.
Last but not least, here is a warning for pro-censorship people:
Hatred only creates more hatred, and if you treat other people with hatred, then those same people will treat you with hatred. If you want to ban and censor media that makes men happy, don't expect those same men to defend you when the things that make you happy get banned and censored.
Fun fact: I originally posted this on CharacterRant, and so many people got triggered in the comments and downvoted me (as well as downvoting people who agreed with me).
They literally proved every single point I have made right.

Remember, all review scores are subjective
Phantom Blade's 88 MC is the same or similar as Saros, Gear of wars E-day and Mixtape, I am pretty sure people are very opinionated about those games.
I don't think site reviews means anything at this point, so let's be honest you can only use them to either reinforce your existing view point or justify a bias, the only thing matter is if you think your money worth it or not.

Blizzard nerfed the Boobs again in WoW Forever. Somehow the Fruit Bowl returned
Blizzard promised to preserve Classic WoW's animations, but side-by-side comparisons with the Forever beta show differences in female character animations, including the original jiggle physics.
I dig into examining those comparisons, Blizzard's preservation promises, and the connection to the 2021 censorship of in-game artwork.
The question is whether these are unfinished beta animations or deliberate changes to the original game, i guess we will see?

The amount of cope over Bioware shutting down has been phenomenal.
Reddit can't figure out who's fault it is between Trump, Capitalism, Private Equity, Kushner, Saudi Arabia, Netanyahu or Critical Drinker.
They are so blind to their own faults; it's astonishing. These people are getting blackpilled in real time as their favorite cultural institutions (Hollywood, Academia, Gaming, etc) are getting absolutely destroyed by... lack of money. It's a sight to behold.

Am I missing something here? BG3
For years everyone has shoved Baldur’s Gate 3 at me as some sort of paradigm-changing masterpiece.
Since I now have a terminal cancer diagnosis, and nothing but time, I purchased it and have been cranking through it the last few months.
i just finished and my reaction has been “that’s what everyone was spooging their britches about?”
Perhaps the last dozen years of AAA have broken my brain, but it seems like the same ole’ familiar story beats and motifs that have pummeled us for a decade-plus: Bad white man, bitchy girl boss, redoubtable Girl Boss, more alphabets than you can throw a Scrabble board at, playersexuality, poor pacing, weak conclusory writing, emphasis on companions over greater narrative, shipping bait, etc. (and I blame DA: inquisition for most of this shit, by the way.)
Don’t get me wrong, for what it is, BG3 is still overall a good game. A nice, solid 7.5 or 8/10. A great way to kill a few months if you can’t get together a D&D campaign.
But I don’t think it’s revolutionary, particularly cerebral, or deviates terribly from what we have seen for years. It is just done a little more competently.

New Cyberpunk mission -more girl boss- ugh
I jumped back in the game for the update. We all know western game studios have been taken over by the woke mind virus. The first mission I play, you break into a prison. Once you walk in the hard ass character smoking a cig calling you names is a diverse black girl boss. Ugh whatever another mags character… let’s keep going. Sure enough the person you share the cell with is another diverse hardened criminal girl boss character. The cringe is killing me. Witcher 4 might be fubar

Have you noticed that it is no longer socially acceptable for men be horny?
While women's sexuality is celebrated, men's sexuality is constantly demonized as this dirty, ugly thing that should never be expressed.
Women's "dark romance" erotica is excused on account of it being fiction, whilst hentai and other forms of pornography are not. Men who purchase sex dolls are seen as pathetic, as opposed to women who have an entire drawer full of phallic objects. A video game woman wearing bikini armor is pandering to the "male gaze" but thirsting over buff, shirtless guys is a-okay.
If you look at older media, you will notice that male protagonists were allowed to be horny. The pervy old man, the womanizing rogue... These archetypes no longer really exist anymore.
It's gotten so bad that men in real life are neutured beyond belief, ashamed of their natural urges. Even admitting that I like to jerk off gets me called a "gooner." Commenting to another man that a woman has nice tits or anything else that you would hear in a typical "locker room talk" conversation back in the day would basically be commiting social kamikaze.
I feel like there's some kind of mass-soyification conspiracy going on behind the scenes.
