I'm trying to make a list of all of the fall / Halloween-themed things to do in the Twin Cities this year. Please let me know if there's anything else I should add! Have you been to any of these before? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
DOUBLE CHECK BEFORE YOU GO. THIS LIST MAY NOT BE UP TO DATE!
You can also find an editable spreadsheet of this list here if you have anything you would like to add. Or comment below and I’ll add it for you!
Edit 1: If you want a prettier version of this in website form where you can sort by date and type please also check out Hairy Ghost and Hunt Halloween. Their lists have a lot of overlap but aren't fully identical yet.

Drivers look both ways before you turn! Or maybe even forward!
Just had the front bumper of a white car scrap against my leg because the idiot did not look right before turning. They were stopped at a right light and gassed it right as I was in front in front of them.
Almost got run over and all there is to is walk away? Cars are violence.

Don’t Fall for the Folk-Tales
According to Reuters, Folk’s firm has served as a go-to law firm for the Trump campaign and the Republican Party. Bloomberg has described Folk’s firm as “Donald Trump’s favorite law firm”. Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that his firm has been “dedicated not just to helping Republicans win elections but to helping them achieve their political aims once in office.” An analysis from the Columbia Journalism Review further reports that Folk’s firm has become the top choice for corporate executives seeking to counter labor unionization efforts within their workplaces, which explains why no labor unions have endorsed his County Attorney campaign.

Fall in Minneapolis!🍂
Why didn’t anyone tell me Fall is so pretty here!?!?
I’ve been doing so much more walking just to see as much of the leaves changing colors as I can. Coming from Texas/Mississippi, Fall is not the same there (very humid and dull). I think I have finally experienced my first true seasonal Fall.
Thanks Minnesota. 😆🍂

Handyman or plumber recommendation for what I think is a pretty small job; SW Mpls.
Just had a plumber over who was very nice and very amazingly didn’t charge me for the consult visit but who said it would cost $750 for him to 1) replace the cartridge on our dripping Kohler kitchen sink faucet (I googled it and I don’t know the exact part but these seem to go for well under $100 unless I’m missing something) and 2) tighten it at the base (it’s loose at the base). I practically fell over and asked him how long it would take and he said about 30 minutes. So I’m looking for recommendations on alternatives here it is genuinely possible I am totally clueless about such matters but I feel like I can get this job done in the low $100s range (eg $2-300ish). Arguably I could do it myself but I’ll admit a couple years ago I tried tightening the base into the sink countertop, got the proper tool to do it from my neighbor etc, but couldn’t get the grip/leverage to do it so here I am.
Edited to make clearer that by low $100s I meant a few hundred not eg $125.
Edit 2: I am working with someone who I think will be a good fit so please don’t bother to respond unless you want to leave a comment for posterity for anyone else who has a similar question! Appreciate all who responded in a helpful manner.

Places to watch midterms results on Nov 3?
I’ve made it a tradition to attend watch parties/ go to bars showing the election results, but my usual places have closed/ changed ownership.
Any bars or venues throwing watch parties or will be showing election results?
Not looking for candidate or state party-affiliated watch parties.

Queer Friendly Hair Salon Recommendations
Hello friends of reddit! I'm a queer woman that's looking for a friendly and queer orientated salon here in Minneapolis. I just moved to the area about 3 months ago and I desperately need a hair cut! And I might want to dye it black again...👀💅
I think I have long hair, others would say extra long. I've had issues in the past with getting my hair cut, I went 10 years without getting it cut, and I just never felt welcome in the space. I'm so so sick of having my hair like this and I just need some change. I'm an anxious bean and just don't know where to start🙃 I would love love some recommendations🥹

- Wednesday
- or the first Wednesday of the month at that
Anyone know what happened?

Found stolen car
Hi I found a Nissan Murano behind an abandoned house near mine. Kids are CONSTANTLY dumping stolen cars here and every time I call it’s is in-fact stolen. If you have a Nissan Murano and know the plate number (I won’t post them here) reach out to me. I called the police but they have not showed and it was a hot minute ago. I assume they are too busy. I know they will show up a lot quicker if the stolen vehicles owner calls lol.

Hairstylist Recs for Postpartum 2B/2C Hair?
Title says it all! It's been years since my last haircut and after the postpartum shed, I'm in bad need of a good stylist. Looking for recommendations for someone who can help me preserve length, encourage the curls, and possibly mitigate the encroaching greys 😏

Does Gay 90s have an ADA elevator?
My friend and I are planning to go to the Halloween bar crawl in mpls this weekend, and I want to see the drag show at the 90s which is on the second floor. I’m on crutches due to a torn meniscus, so stairs are difficult. Does anyone know if they have an ADA elevator for those who can’t take the stairs?

Ramp A Parking - Road Closures
I was planning on parking in Ramp A for a concert this evening but Google is showing road closures all around it and is trying to route me a wild way to avoid 394. Does anyone know if the ramp is even open and accessible currently?

Minneapolis Diagonal Trail sign fell over? Was taken down? Vandalized?
A week or so ago, I noticed that the arch sign over the trail was off in the shrubs on the side of the road. Didn't see any tire tracks or other sides of a wayward vehicle in the tall grass, so I don't think someone ran it over. The position of it and the breaks in the brick didn't look very neat, so I can't imagine it was intentional or planned. There's been an awful lot of strong gusts of wind taking down Flock camera poles, but this is sturdier than that.
What gives?
Location near the southeast corner of Stinson and New Brighton Blvd

Where to go in Minneapolis?
I’m from SoCal and have never been to Minneapolis. I don’t know anyone here (except for a guy I met in August who was in town for a wedding lol but that doesn’t count) and would be here alone. Should I go to the Mall of America? What would I be into? I don’t drink but I do go clubbing in LA often. Is there a fun party scene or stuff to do in Minneapolis? I’m visiting because I thought why the hell not go somewhere completely random where you wouldn’t think to go

Bluegrass, folk, or old-time jams/ groups in Uptown?
Hello! I have seen the listings on minnesotabluegrass.org but was curious if there are any groups specifically in Uptown or South Minneapolis that meet regularly. Or if anyone wants to jam at Painter/ Bryant Park or at the lakes before it gets too cold I would be down! I am pretty new to the genre and am okay at guitar and horrendous at fiddle so fair warning about that... Anyways, let me know and thank you! Feel free to PM

Elections and Voter Services Department Is Being Gutted
Earlier this week seven full time employees of the elections department were informed they are being laid off at the end of the year. That is almost half of the total full time permanent staff of the department. The office of the city clerk was told it had to lay off seven people as part of the new budget and presumably Casey Carl decided all seven should come from elections despite the fact that his office also includes the Legislative Support & Operations, Records & Information Management, and Legislative Research & Oversight divisions.
Not really sure what can be done but please consider reaching out to your city councilor to raise concerns. The people being laid off include the single person who runs our student election judge program, the person who is primarily responsible for developing election judge training, and both people who do voter outreach and education. Given the state of the world and current attacks on democracy this just feels like a wildly irresponsible decision.
My source is I used to work for the elections department and was at a very sad happy hour with them yesterday after they got the news.
