discussion The Cure - Disintegratation vs The Stone Roses self titled debut

• Upvotes

Both released 2nd May 1989

A good day in music history

Both banger albums

No Filler No Skips

I've never skipped track 4 "Don't Stop" it's an essential cog in the experience...reverse psychedelia

Mani 's epic bass riff on "I Am the Resurrection" is actually the Beatles - Taxman riff in reverse

I'm tempted to go with Stone Roses simply because i owned that one first and I've definitely played that one more often

Played Disintegration while on tour in Aldi yesterday and it's an LP every music fan really should own

So....

Your thoughts on this Hot UK topic

Which LP is Best and Why ?

Favourite Track: These Walls

Least Favourite Track: Alright

Look, I can respect the album for what it is. It wasn’t really my thing, but I still enjoyed it somewhat, although not as much as other albums. I think that it’s definitely overrated, but I can still understand why people like it. It covers some very deep themes, and I understand the use of the n word, and there’s nothing wrong with it being used, however it is a thing that makes me uncomfortable regardless. The start to the middle of the album is really strong but once it passes that halfway point and goes more towards the end it definitely drops in enjoyableness for me.

The sound of the album I really liked in some parts, and in others not. Some of the more hip-hop focused parts of the album I didn’t really love but the thing that stood out to me the most and I really enjoyed was the jazz influence.

Standout Track:

These Walls: It was funky as. I loved the jazz influence, and also no uses of the n word. Amazing!

Overall, I enjoyed it somewhat. I can understand why uses of the n word are there, and they’re appropriate for the story and the kind of music it is, that just wasn’t for me though.

discussion Using words that don’t exist in songs

I just now realized I used a word that doesn’t exist, “contra-ceding” in one of my demos 😭

Also since Reddit subs are so strict, this can be a post for people to talk about their made-up-words

I genuinely dislike this album not only is it the exact same old recycled stuff he has been putting out for the last 10 years but it always feels like nothing new and I don't understand why people be glazing it

discussion Is Stankonia too bloated with interludes and half songs to be a classic?

I find myself rarely revisiting this album because it’s disjointed and kind of annoying to listen to. Also Ms Jackson was so overplayed that I have to skip it (also so fresh, so clean to a degree). I think I’ll Call B4 I Cum is the song I play the most. I’d much rather listen to Aquemini or Speakerboxx/The Love Below because they’re just solid albums

discussion How to combat AI Bands??

Came across an AI band started by this gross real estate agent and it is just not sitting well with me. He is claiming that he is “writing the songs.” And it is the most blatant AI Christian music ever.

What are some steps to flag it as such across streaming platforms and to call him and this “project” out???

If there are any psychonauts here (which there surely are) can anyone tell me when they bought acid if they ever received this exact blotter design? I was wondering if it's an actual blotter design or just a paper made for the photo that isn't being made irl. "This is only an informational question, I'm NOT asking about receiving contacts or offerings for any illegal substances, nor am i offering anybody any"

discussion I need to find someone else like me, music makes me feel like I’m actually alive rather than feeling dull all the time

Everyone will put music on and be like “this sounds so good”. But when I hear it it’s just sounds and words, it doesn’t sound that good. For me music makes me feel alive, normally everything feels 2d and distant, but with the right songs it feels 3d and vivid, it’s like the difference between a warm flat soda and a fresh cold one, I’ve never met someone that understood what I ment and I struggle to find music like that, songs that really do it are hard to find, please if you feel something like this reply to the post, I would love to understand how to find music like that and what the feeling really is. I think another good description is, imagine seeing the same sunset one million times, then you’re listening to a song and it feels like the first sunset you’ve ever seen.

discussion I’m not a big country fan but I’ve discovered these two artists.

I’m not a big fan of country but in the last 6 months I’ve started listening to Colby T Helms and Bryan Andrews. They’re real outlaw country like my granddaddy liked when I was a wee baby. Johnny is pretty much the only country artist I listen to. Unless you consider honky tonk country then I love old Hank sr. Truest outlaw ever. Banned from the opery and died of drink.

So I just wanted to share and speak about these two artist but if y’all know other artist with a similar message hit me up.

other An album cover.

Do you think this cover is too childish for my one-man alt/experimental rock, light DSBM, melodic, acoustic album? I designed it myself, and it holds a great deal of importance to me—along with a few others like it (which are short pieces from turning points in Dave Carter’s life)."

discussion Yes… the band

The Yes album is a wonderful album. The song The Clap is an acoustic feat.

I am listening to Long Distance Run Around while eating breakfast and asked chat if the album cover was hand drawn. Per chat it was. Interesting.

Any Yes fans out there?
