I don’t get it. Agree or disagree with Butker, his stances are very polarizing and toxic (but you should disagree with his Trad BS). So toxic that you could only justify rostering him as long as he was a top 5 kicker. Well, it seems he’s not that anymore, shucks. So you bring in the one guy, the ONE GUY more toxic and polarizing to kick for you???
Remember, the Ravens don’t even cut Tucker if he’s still a top 5 kicker, but he sucked his last year there AND was accused of being a deviant. So you’re bringing in a deviant that wasn’t even elite in his last professional experience.
I genuinely like watching greatness. It’s cool to say I got to watch Brady my whole adult life. It was fun watching the chiefs start a dynasty, but they had a shit load of bad eggs every year. It made it hard to justify watching them. You know the list of players AND COACHES I’m talking about.
The Tucker signing is the second most tone-deaf thing I’ve seen a team do, only behind the Watson trade/extension. I don’t see how a team with the chiefs reputation could decide to do this. This isn’t the move of an organization trying to heal its public image. It’s a middle finger to all fans, especially women, everywhere. A complete lack of character and something that should be universally panned.

He is #4 in passer rating for QBs who have played five games or more. 109.1 rating throwing for 9 touchdowns and one interception. He is led only by Jared Goff, Joe Burrow, and Brock Purdy. Considering the 49ers game, he played incredibly clean football. In this 49ers game, he had a stellar 118.9 passer rating. If the offensive line can protect him, this dude will eventually start showing flashes of prime Brady. No I’m not glazing. This guy is a threat and I will only eat my words if he keeps being injured.

The Chiefs had 213 total yards and didn’t make it to the red zone once. For those who watched, what did Seattle’s defense do that gave them so much trouble?

I’m all for hating each other’s teams. That’s half the fun of football. We can argue about quarterbacks, officiating, playoff seeding, and whose franchise is perpetually cursed until we’re blue in the face.
But can we collectively agree that the absolute infestation of sports betting advertisements, particularly Kalshi, is getting completely out of hand?
And before someone inevitably says it, I have absolutely nothing against sports betting. You’re an adult. It’s your money. If you want to throw $20 on a six-leg parlay to make a Thursday night game between two terrible teams more entertaining, knock yourself out.
That’s not the issue.
The issue is that gambling has gone from something you could participate in while watching football to something you practically cannot escape while watching football.
Every commercial break. Every pregame show. Every podcast. Every other piece of football content on social media. We’re being relentlessly sold the idea that the natural next step after enjoying a football game is putting money on it.
And Kalshi’s marketing, in particular, has become downright obnoxious.
The manufactured TikToks, the videos designed to look like organic fan content, the increasingly blurred line between genuine sports discussion and paid promotion. It’s one thing to run an advertisement. It’s another to make advertising look like a regular person sharing an exciting discovery.
That’s not sports culture. That’s advertising deliberately disguising itself as sports culture.
What bothers me most is how thoroughly this has infiltrated the way football is discussed. We’re slowly turning a sport built around competition, loyalty, history, and community into a vehicle for selling financial speculation.
A ridiculous fourth-quarter touchdown used to be something we’d talk about because it was an incredible football play. Now half the conversation is about whose parlay it saved or ruined.
And yes, I understand that gambling partnerships generate enormous revenue. I understand why leagues, broadcasters, and content creators take the money. But understanding the business model doesn’t mean we have to pretend it’s good for the product.
There’s also something deeply cynical about a league that spends so much time protecting its integrity simultaneously allowing gambling promotion to become practically inseparable from its broadcasts.
I’m not advocating for banning sports betting. I’m not suggesting people shouldn’t gamble. I’m asking why we’ve collectively accepted being advertised to this aggressively, especially through content that doesn’t always make it obvious it’s advertising.
You should be able to love football without being treated like a prospective gambling customer every five minutes.
I’m a Vikings fan. I have plenty of reasons to hate the Packers, and I’m sure Packers fans have plenty of reasons to hate us.
But whether you’re a Chiefs fan, an Eagles fan, a Cowboys fan, or one of the unfortunate souls still emotionally invested in the Jets, I think this is something we should all be able to get behind.
The NFL is already the most compelling sports entertainment product in America. It doesn’t need to turn every moment of our attention into another opportunity to sell us a wager.
