Had the park to myself to just challenge myself. That marble ledge was pretty tall and I finally hit a kicker to kicker. I know nothing huge but I never did it. I'm just trying to push myself while body will allow it. Hope yall fall is going well

Work/life balance sometimes like that

Fear of slamming this old-ass body into the concrete is holding me back. I've been there, and done it so many times, that I have injuries that linger from the 80s.

it was bad enough to slam hard when I was in my 20s, at this age? Maaaaan... I'm still nursing a shoulder injury from snowboarding LAST FEBRUARY.

I love skating, I do, but there's a reason I give my head a shake every time I think about sliding a stair rail.

Reality, and experience and, yes, fear, are keeping me where I am in my skating "progression". I guess this is who I am now.

Advice to Progress

So the collection is growing and we're doing some redecorating. We have a downstairs bathroom where we're going for a not-very-serious-classy/goth/cosy vibe. Thinking of adding some wooden board holders stained dark or something to that effect. What are you guys doing? I've seen some cool DIY options, and I'm just looking for fun ideas, but also want it to be easy to grab a board and go.

built a small 4 foot wide steep bank today!

I got back into skating about a year and a half ago when my daughter picked it up, and even though I’m still not very good, I’ve been bitten by the bug hard.

I’ve always been a bit of a tinkerer, so when I saw that CCS was doing the DIY deck thing it felt like something fun to try. I was going for sort of a double shovel egg shape a’la John Lucero. It actually skates pretty awesome, and managed to pull off my first legit nose slide in probably 20 years on it. Thinking of picking up some more uncut decks to do some more experimenting.

Dusted off the skateboard I swore I would ride years ago and I'm trying to remember how to use it. I can still pop-shuvit 70% of the time and relearned FS 180s. Learning to get around a park again is still super sketchy, but I'll get there.
