Use this thread to recommend fics you've been reading this past week and get help on things you've been writing. Please don't just link fics as your entire post, instead make sure to elaborate your thoughts on the piece/issues you're having. As a courtesy when asking for help/suggesting a fic, leave a summary along with the link.
Fics do not necessarily need to be RWBY related, though it is always preferred.
This thread may fill up fast. Consider sorting by New instead of Top or Best to see the most recent posts.
Note: All links must comply with our rules. That means no pure smut/gore/violence just for the sake of it. If they are a part of a story that is fine.

*TIME FOR THE RETURN OF NO SPOILERS: ONLY WANT TO BE SPOILED VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND YOUTUBE\*
Finally figured out where to watch the show. unfortunately, i had to get the 7 day free trial cause i ain't spending money to watch one show then tried to figure out how to get the screenshots before finally seeing there was a better option and i didn't see it thus, i am using the free trial to watch the show and using the other option for the screenshots. so, the posts are going to be less in depth and i am more likely to miss key details. hopefully not as bad as Volume 9.
Anyway, let's get started.
Episode 1 was mostly a recap of the Black and White trailers and the 1st episode with added details from the future.
With Wiess, it turns out that the armor creature Was controlled by a geist AND that the fight that happened was requested by Weiss to finally escape her father. which honestly, i am surprised he decided to not rig the fight to ensure she stays. we also get a quick gimpse of Whitley and Weiss's relationship before the events of Volume 4-8and....Wow, i suddenly understand why Whitley was antagonistic towards her. Also willow was there.....going to move on before my rage for Jacque eclispes the post.
there is also a nod to the Wiess trailer from Volume 5 with Winter being a lot colder than in the volume 5 trailer stating that power is more important and also telling her that she will die if she takes 3 direct hits.
I wonder if that is actually what Winter believes in or what Jacque drilled into her head cause that is a wee bit uncalled for, Winter.
Again, just like with Ruby. just cause she is my 3rd favorite character does not mean she is free from Scrutiny.
With Blake, they added the future characteristics of Adam and revealed that the only reason he let Blake go was cause he believed she would come crawling back to him once she saw what he believed the world was, which considering that during the Cinder flashback he was trying to find her before heading back to Mistral. I'm calling BS on that reasoning. we do see where Blake went to after she left. she went into an abandoned farm house where she saw she got an acceptance letter. I wonder if Blake's parents did that or someone else? My bet is on Blake's parents though :).
there is no Red or Yellow recreation unfortunately but we do get to see an update on the first episode of Volume 1 with Glynda....sounding different. I really hope that it was cause the original voice actress wasn't able to voice on the show and not an consequence of Late stage Rooster-teeth.
moving on, we see more of Tai especially with him seeing Ruby and Yang go to Beacon with him telling them the same thing we hear Summer say to them when she read the girl who fell and what helped Ruby choose herself during the Volume 9 finale. (Ignore the elephant in the room that is Ozma's ill aging advice please.)
Also, Ozpin countering Salem's monologue from Episode 1 with his own was Amazing.
Another recap with the emerald forest and Oh boy, I do NOT MISS early Weiss being a entitled snob at all. Although seeing her being genuinely offended on Jaune talking trash on Pumpkin Pete cereal was hilarious. (Nice to finally see Pyrrha on the pumpkin Pete in official media.)
we get to the land strategy and with it, a new character, Shion i believe their name was, whom never appeared at all in the original show. so, i want to ask. is this the new canon to Volume 1 or is it one of those "Non-canon but it fits nicely enough to be headcanon into the show?" cause there are some large differences compared to the original scene.
also, there might be a new Grimm????? there are some Vines moving on their own and Jaune was being eyed by a Grimm before Pyrrha caught up to him.
anyway, the same events happen as before up until the orientation where the camera shows Weiss seemingly infected with something and considering that Shion says something about JNPR and RWBY finding a hiding place, there is a new Grimm in this show. Wonder what it does.
Guess, i shall find out later on. :)

Ok, honestly I found this one to be real risky, since I’m afraid this would draw attention from all the fanfic writers making Jaune OP, OOC, or Betrayed, but I feel like trusting all you guys to not do all that, now:
How would all of 👉 YOU 👈 guys write Jaune in general, if you were writing in canon, or any fanwork AUs?
What would you guys establish or elaborate more about both of his character and qualities, like the Arc family? What elements would you consider might be added, changed, or expanded on?
Or would you rather not change him at all? Considering how part of his character is being the underdog and goes through development.
Again, before you guys ask, I don’t mean like make him OOC or OP, especially in Jaune’s case, I’m moreso asking like what do you think should be written about or expanded on of their character.
Again, I’m ultimately curious as to all the other ideas you lovely people have in mind, and what changes you would add to the character and how it would fit. Lemme know what you guys think in the comments, and as always, have a good one.

Housekeeping: I recreated this image from a random still from the fight. I just wanted a striking image for the playlist I made of songs that featured their motifs in "Protecting Each Other," the score that played during the fight. It's not perfect, especially Blake, but I really like the colors.
Anyway, this fight was SO much fun, and almost instantly became my favorite fight in the entire series as I rewatched/finished the show last week. The song "Protecting Each Other" is a massive part of that. I absolutely adore how it utilized the motifs from "Lionize", "From Shadows", "Armed and Ready", and what may be my favorite RWBY song now: "Nevermore". The score does such an excellent job accentuating what is happening on screen and who is winning. Yang's entrance as "Armed and Ready" played was especially great, but the introduction of "Nevermore" was so powerful and impactful.
Next, obviously, the fight choreography is so good. You can absolutely see Monty's influence in Yang's 1v1 against Adam, and it's so amazing to see that style and flair in the new engine. I absolutely loved how you can actively see Yang's fighting style change throughout the fight, especially when she learns what Adam's semblance is. It was so satisfying to see her fight smart, and the visual storytelling alone made the fight feel even more impactful.
Also, Blake's vol 4-6 outfit is so much better without the coat, so I'm glad she had this moment without it. Yang's final "gotcha" moment is SO satisfying, and the final affirmation of Blake and Yang protecting each other, and not saying one is above the other, (as Blake saying "I'll protect you" suggested to Yang on the farm) was another amazing part. Gah, I just loved the fight so much! And I can't stop listening to the playlist collection because every song with its motif used in the score feels elevated by 1,000 to me. Nevermore is so much more intense and gratifying.

just started another NG+ on Dead space 2 and finished the remake of the first game. highly recommended the dead space games if you like horror but still want to fight back :). (2nd game does require a community patch to get it running on modern PC/laptops though.)
this is a follow up question to my other spooky month question and this is going to be more fun for everyone involed
as stated in the post, do you believe Issac clarke can survive in Remnant and could RWBY survive the locations of Dead space 1 and 2.
me personally, Isaac can survive in remnant, especially since Stasis and kinesis are very good with dealing with grimm since it is very much shown Stasis affects everything and if we are including all of the suits he wears, he can survive the world of remnant.
can he survive if we are forcing him to be part of the main show such as the fall of beacon or the battle of Atlas?
No.
unless Issac has a feat that stasis is fast enough to actually get Cinder or any of the other big bads. he ain't living and even then, i don't know if any of his weapons can actually go through aura especially an maxed out plasma cutter.
so, Issac can survive Remnant but not the events that happen in RWBY.
Now onto my opinion on team RWBY in the ishimura and Titan station.
RWBY definitely have the tools since Ruby has a sniper and scythe, Weiss with her summons and glyphs, Blake with her semblance and weapon and Yang......has Aura? they have the tools to kill the necromorphs outside of the heavy hitters such as the brute, tormentor and the regenerators but that is only part of the outbreak for you see.

The marker is their biggest detriment.
the marker causes hallucinates and insanity to the point that for some characters, it drove them to murder.
To illustrate, in dead space 1, Issac finds Nicole but later in the game, it is revealed that Nicole was an hallucination caused by the marker to get him to put it back in the pedestal since she was dead and in dead space 2, the marker continues to use Nicole to torment Isaac to get him to start convergence.
Do you see how much of a problem this is cause the marker will absolutely cause Hallucinations of Summer rose for Ruby, either a happy Willow or a better family life for Weiss and depending on which volume, Adam or Yang for Blake and so much more that i have miss on what the Marker does to the human mind.
Unless, we give RWBY the same willpower and stubbornness Isaac has for all of them, the marker WILL be the one to kill them. even if they can deal with the marker's hallucinations, the marker will permanently scar them like Isaac and depending on where they are in the show, (Beacon, Mistral, Atlas and the everafter.) The worse it gets for them.
again, they can deal with the necromorphs with ease but the marker is their biggest hurdle here and i don't believe they have the firepower to destroy the marker, so it will always be a constant threat.
Due to the lack of firepower, the objective RWBY has to do is simply survive and escape either of the two locations.
For people who played the game, just pretend That the marker ceases to exist once RWBY leaves so that Convergence doesn't happen cause if we add the brethren moons in this situation, RWBY is completely screwed either way.
with that in mind:
THE USG ISHIMURA:

NOPE!
Yeah, they are not surviving the Ishimura since even when Isaac got there, the Ishimura was falling apart due to the outbreak and due to enclosed some of the ship is alongside the Quarantine segments. They are going to have not a great time in the ship.
even if they deal with the necromorphs and keep their sanity with the marker, The ishimura was still descending. unless they can somehow get to the crew duck onto the executive shuttle in time before the Ishimura crashes down which due to the fact that parts of the ship was ripped open, effectively closing off parts of the ship to everyone still there but Isaac alongside both the marker and the Quarantine areas.
they are not making it in time to get out of the ship. (Keep in mind that none of RWBY have the experience or knowhow on how to repair the ship to stall for time and Isaac is not there to help them.)
TITAN STATION:

Yes but not mentally.
Unlike the Ishimura, Titan station is way bigger then the planet cracker ship, so less enclosed spaces for them to deal with and throughout the events of the game, there was less areas that required Isaac's spacesuit to breathe in space
and since in the text logs alonside the audio logs in the game itself, Tiedemann would not try to hinder them. (He only went after Isaac and Stross throughout the game with Ellie being collateral and the argument could be made, he made sure no one else was still there before going after them.)
He ordered the evacuation of Titan station to reduce causalities and in Chapter 6, i believe there is a dead guard whose rig shows a video of Tiedemann telling citizens to head to the nearest Evac point.
Due to the bigger area, Tiedemann being a none issue alongside actual evac points, they can survive the Titan Station outbreak.
and for those who ask about Titan station exploding, that will only happened due to Isaac destroying the marker in titan station.
Mentally though?
No.
A marker was in Titan Station so they still have to deal with the hallucinations that it will cause to them and if they are unlucky and need to get to the gunship that was in the government sector to escape.
the marker's effects would be amplified.
and that's not even considering the fact that unlike in the Ishimura, RWBY will be in the middle of an active outbreak, so they are going to see a lot of deaths and that's not considering that some necromorphs are going to mess with them mentally which will worsen if they have to pass through an certain area. (Those who played Dead space 2 will know exactly what i am talking about and why that would damage RWBY's psyche.)
Depending on which arc they are in, the worse it gets with the absolute worse being the everafter since every one will be stricken with Grief unable to save everyone with Ruby being the most affected since the Marker will not allow her breathing room.
They'll survive but i'm pretty sure a small part of them wish they would have done more.
But that is my personal opinion.
I want to hear your opinions especially since we are approaching the end of Spooky month.
Looking forward to everyone's opinion here.

To clear up any confusion with people who have absolutely no idea what the phantom ring is: it’s a power ring that can channel the power of all 7 primary emotions. It itself is not inherently selfish but it is incredibly unstable and its main user used it for selfish reasons, so that what I’m going with.
The Phantom lantern oath:
In desperate day, in hopeless night,
The phantom ring is our last light,
We yearn for power, strength, and might,
I seize the ring, that is my right!
