Welcome to r/SensitiveSkinRelief | Your SOS Station for Reactive Skin

Body:

Hi everyone! If your face currently feels like it’s on fire, looks like a tomato, or is peeling like a desert after a session with Adapalene/Tretinoin—you’ve officially found your people. 🛡️

🌊 Why are we here?

Most skincare communities are filled with "miracle" 20% Vitamin C serums and 10-step glass skin routines. But for us, less is more. We created r/SensitiveSkinRelief because we know the struggle of:

A damaged skin barrier that stings even with plain water.

The "Retinization" process (the peeling, the redness, the "ugly" phase).

Dry, stagnant office air that makes your skin feel tight and itchy by 3 PM.

The endless search for truly fragrance-free, alcohol-free, and essential oil-free products.

🧪 What can you post here?

We want this to be a high-signal, low-noise community. You are encouraged to share:

[Flare-up Help]: Post your current reaction and routine for immediate "emergency" advice on how to calm it down.

[Barrier Repair Journey]: What worked for you? Share your B5, Ceramide, or Centella success stories.

[Safe Routine]: Show us your minimalist, "safe" morning and night routines.

[Ingredient Deep Dive]: Found a hidden irritant in a "sensitive skin" product? Let us know.

[Office Skin Survival]: Tips for keeping skin hydrated in harsh indoor environments.

[Shelfie/Empties]: Post those rare products you actually finished because they didn't break you out.

🛑 A few Ground Rules:

No Medical Diagnoses: We are enthusiasts, not doctors. If it looks like an infection or a severe medical condition, please see a dermatologist.

Keep it Science-Based: No fear-mongering (e.g., "all chemicals are bad"). We love chemistry; we just hate irritation.

Be Kind: Everyone's skin is different. What works for one might sting another.

💬 Introduce yourself!

To get started, drop a comment below and tell us:

What is your skin's "Current Status"? (e.g., Peeling from Tret, red from the wind, etc.)

What is the ONE "Holy Grail" product that never stings your face?

Let’s help each other find some relief. Welcome to the calm after the storm. 🌊

Hey guys, I bought the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and Moisturising Cream today after looking into so many different products. My skin is really sensitive and my skin barrier might be damaged, so I’m hoping these work for me. Has anyone tried them? How was your experience with them?

Recs for adjustable gold rings that don't bother sensitive skin

My fingers swell enough during the day that fixed sizes drive me crazy, so Ive been going for adjustable rings, BUT most of the cheap adjustable ones Ive tried left my fingers red and itchy within like 2 days.

Is there a material I should look for with adjustable gold rings for sensitive skin or is it just luck at this point?

Best Setting spray for sensitive skin

My skins always been pretty sensitive but around the start of my ED recovery two years ago my skin completely broke out.

And then randomly I started getting small puss filled bumps around my jaw, mouth, next to/under my nose each time I’d do my makeup. It would be tender and feel inflamed. I think it was milia.

I thought maybe something was triggering it so I went through my makeup routine taking one item out and then buying it again just in case it was old (and maybe the reason it was triggering this reaction?) I figured out it was my nyx marshmallow setting spray. I’d been using it for over 2 years at that point so I was very surprised.

I went off setting sprays all together. And honestly I don’t even wear that much skin related makeup, But my skin more recently has gotten a lot better since then, and I’ve wanted to get back into some setting sprays.

I looked online and saw makeup by mario surreal skin setting spray and Kosas Cloud set airy setting spray were good options but I’d love if anyone has any recommendations or good experiences with setting sprays that hold your makeup in place and have a dewy finish!

Cleanser recom for dry sensitive skin

I have dry, sensitive skin and I'm looking for a gentle cleanser that can effectively remove sunscreen without making my skin feel dry or irritated.

I currently use the Derma Co 1% Niacinamide Gentle Skin Cleanser, but I don't feel like it cleanses that effectively, especially when it comes to washing off sunscreen.....please suggest some good cleansers

Thoughts on UBeauty SUPER Hydrator? And Nature Bisse Diamond Extreme Cream?

I have very dry, sensitive and mature skin. Even with the reformulation, still a La Mer Moisturizing Cream girlie because it is really the only thing that my skin actually feels hydrated from. Stop the concentrate, which was my holy Grail because it has so much silicone in it now.

Heard about these two and wanted to see thoughts on this from someone who has similar skin type? The Nature Bisse Extreme cream seems pretty rich, and I like the scent, very Spalike which I love. I bought the mist, which I love the scent of as well. Not sure it'll be hydrating or not, but I love the way it smells.

Was considering buying the U Beauty. Love that it is natural, but I always have concerns about those going bad quickly. Plus, is this cream really that superior to something that you can pick up at Whole Foods with similar ingredients for half the price?

Is the Nature B really moisturizing?

Thank you.

Dry, Flaky, Itchy, and Bleeding; How Do I Heal This and With What?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Just for some context, I used to regularly shave my body, primarily my arms from when I was 11 to just about a few months ago, I’m 20.

I’ve had issues with my arms for awhile, they were mildly dry and at times I would get itchy and a scab would appear here and there from itching at the area.

But it’s gotten seemingly worse since I stopped shaving, and I’m not sure why or what this could be :(

I’ve been using Dove’s hypoallergenic body wash for sensitive skin, PanOxyl’s acne bar soap, Dr. Teal’s sugar scrub, with Dr. Palmer’s body oil for dry and itchy skin and Queen Helene’s coco butter lotion. I switched from a wash cloth to an African net sponge.

I’ve also recently switched to Bioderma’s Atoderm shower oil in replacement of my Dove body wash.

I was looking to buy Bioderma’s Intensive Baume but I thought I’d ask if it’s worth the buy for an issue like this.

I’d like to heal this first and then buy the appropriate products afterwards. I’m really looking to totally reorganize and refreshen my body and skin care though.
I’ve been writing up a list of Asian skin care recommendations and I’m still trying to figure out which products are best for me.

Any way, what would be the best product for something like this, how long would it take to heal, and is there anything else I should do? Thanks!

Thick Non-Comedogenic Moisturizers for the Winter

I’ve been looking so long for a thick winter moisturizer with no pore clogging ingredients. I have very dry skin but it’s extremely clog prone.

In the summer my skincare routine worked very well, but now it’s not doing anything. Hyaluronic acid seems to be drying my skin more even though I use it on damp skin. And my Anua 3 ceramide cream is no longer moisturizing enough even after 3 layers🤦🏾‍♀️

I check the ingredients of my skincare on skinsort and it looks like every thick moisturizer i’ve been recommended has pore cloggers. Help plss!😭😭

Cerave Moisturizing cream

I just started using it 2 weeks ago. I have extremely dry skin and everyone was like Go Cerave ??

I used to use Cetaphil lotion that I liked a lot...then this cerave cream I bought with all my savings since I barely get pocket money. Anyways...but

..

It's like..heavy...I don't know if I'm paranoid but it is stiff and that feels like I didn't apply and like tightness in the face....that skin-stretch feeling (I can't really convey it in words but it's.. weird) . though I didn't have any breakout or anything either.

It's my first time using skincare so Idk really if cerave working like this is normal or should I just shift back to Cetaphil? Like the lotion was soft and it felt as if yeah this one working.

So ...I wanna ask if cerave is like that...or should I just change my moisturizer? I can handle some loss or use it for other body parts like hands or legs....

For face I'm not sure.

Please help me !!
