I've been thinking about this idea for a while, and I wanted to see what other people think about it.
What if Mafia Land, Airrack's property in California, could eventually become a small thrill park with around 5 roller coasters? I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out.
Instead of building a massive theme park that takes up hundreds of acres, the idea would be to make the most out of the space available. The coasters could have really creative layouts, with tracks crossing over and under each other, vertical elements, and maybe even underground sections if those were possible. Basically, a compact park that focuses on fitting as much as possible into a relatively small area.
Pacific Park in Santa Monica is kind of an example of what I mean in terms of fitting attractions into a small space, although Mafia Land would obviously be very different.
One thing I wouldn't want to change is the fact that Mafia Land is meant to be free to visit. I've heard Airrack talk about people being able to visit for free, so what if that could stay the same?
People could still enter for free, walk around, take pictures, and see the existing structures. But if they wanted to ride the roller coasters, they could buy a wristband for unlimited rides or pay for individual rides. That way, people who just want to explore Mafia Land wouldn't have to pay, while the rides could bring in money to help operate the park.
I'd also want to keep the building aspect of Mafia Land alive. From what I've seen, it doesn't seem like a huge amount of new stuff has been built there over the years. Maybe there could be a designated area where people could bring materials and build their own creations, as long as they followed the necessary rules. I'd also want to preserve existing structures where possible, with permission from whoever owns or built them.
Obviously, there are a LOT of things that would need to be figured out. We'd need to know the actual property boundaries, whether the land could legally support a theme park, how much everything would cost, where parking and utilities would go, and whether five coasters could realistically fit. We'd also need the proper permits and permission to use any land or structures we didn't own.
I'm not pretending this would be easy or that it could happen anytime soon.
I actually emailed Zack at the business email listed for Airrack recently to ask whether there's someone I could talk to about the idea. I haven't received a response yet, and I haven't gotten permission from Airrack or anyone else. This is just a concept I'm developing, not an official project.
If people genuinely liked the idea and thought it was worth exploring, I'd want to keep working on it and see if there's a realistic way to make it happen. If anyone knows an appropriate public business contact for Airrack's team or someone who handles property development, that could also be helpful.
I'm curious what you guys think. Could something like this actually work, or would trying to fit a thrill park into Mafia Land be too ambitious?

Ex Universal Orlando ops, been tracking the UK build weekly since ground breaking earlier this year. Big public communications week from Universal, and the most direct confirmations yet about what the park is actually going to be. Also a striking visual moment from the drone footage.
BedEx event, four significant confirmations
Universal reps spoke at a Bedford business event this week. Four things worth pulling out.
First, Universal leadership said on record that the Bedford site is moving faster than any project they have ever done. For a company that built Beijing, Osaka and Epic Universe, that is a strong line.
Second, demographic target explicitly confirmed as teen and family. The Universal Kids Resort Frisco style rumours are now dead. This is a full gate.
Third, the park launches with six distinct themed zones, each designed for the entire family. High thrill rides, family dark rides, quiet spaces and play areas in every single land. That is Orlando’s flagship design philosophy applied cleanly, not the Islands of Adventure thrill weighted lands model. Epic Universe landed hard with family groups for exactly this reason.
Fourth, Universal confirmed that at opening in 2031, they will already be one to two years into constructing the park’s first major expansions. Drone footage and grading maps back this up. Three to four large expansion pads are already levelled and fenced on the master site. The two biggest pads sit directly behind the areas widely rumoured to be Hogsmeade and Jurassic World. This is the Epic Universe rolling expansion playbook, and Universal have stopped being coy about it.
The lagoon basin is now self-filling
The deep elevation for the central Show Lagoon has already been carved out. Local clay is impermeable, so the basin is naturally filling with rainwater from the October rains. The centre of the future theme park is now visible from the air as standing water. First time the master layout has drawn itself on the landscape. Striking in the drone footage.
Trademark watch
Fresh Universal trademark filings flagged this week, including The Shire. Unconfirmed whether this filing is specifically for the UK park, but it slots neatly into the fantasy IP acquisition strategy running across the global portfolio. File under speculative for now.
Elsewhere on site
October rain has paused heavy articulated dumper movements across the Core Zone. Second phase of the Tier 1 contractor command village is being poured on fresh concrete alongside the ongoing demolition of the historic brickworks slab. Only three archaeological grids remain active out of the entire 500 acre site, two still hunting for Bronze Age and Roman fragments.
Six zones built for whole family demographics, Epic Universe rolling expansion cadence confirmed, and the layout now literally visible from the sky. Curious what people make of the two biggest expansion pads sitting ready behind the rumoured Hogsmeade and Jurassic World areas.

Hi all, I've bit the bullet and I'm finally getting to Phantasialand between Christmas and the new year. It'll be me and my wife going for my 40th birthday and I wanted to stay in Charles Lindenbergh as it looked really cool, but I'm now hearing some mixed views on it. We're staying 3 nights but the package seemed pretty good with the dinner and theme park tickets. Id imagine we will spend most of our time outside of the room.
If you've stayed, what good/bad points did you find?

I rode barnstormer on a 100 degree day, at about 4 pm. The wait was 10 mins, so I decided to do it before my next fast pass reservation. It was absolutely awful. First of all, this seats are this weird ridged plastic that was awful. And the rattle. My home park is SFGAM, so I am no stranger to rough coasters. (Viper, American Eagle, Demon). They can’t hold a candle to barnstorme. The lap bars on barnstormer are like on phoenix, where you have ~3 inches of space. So you are jumping up and down and into that awful ridged plasti. This is easily the least themed coaster in the park, also. Kill it with fire. I hated it. NOT A TROLL POST

Loved following this ride and was always a bucket list one for me. Super sad to see it go :(
I’ve found it interesting that from that back in the day there had not really been much tech innovation till now rides like fast and furious and the new bakunawa. Keen to hear you guys’ thoughts! Can’t wait to ride them.

I just had an epiphany last night. What do you guys think about a theme park almost completely serviced by AI. It's a world where everything is AI assisted. When you enter the theme park you will navigate via an AI assistant you download on your device. Travelling distances on AI controled vehicles. All rides will be AI controlled, human monitored. The rides would not be your typical carnival rides, more scifi theme like the Transport Tubes from Futurama, levitating vehicles, a room with wireless power. Robots cooking food and serving guest in restaurants. A garden with robotic animals and insects. A space full of the highest technology in robotics and prosthetics. A space with all the lastest AI robotic companion technologies. The entire park will be AR assisted and the visitors will be provided with AR eyeware upon entering. By the end of the day, your AI Assistant will be able to better navigate your next visit based on the choices you made previously. The possibilities are endless.

I have a work trip to Orlando and might extend my stay by a day or two. I’ll most likely be solo, which I don’t mind (and might help with Single Rider lines, is that still a thing?).
I’m a big Nintendo and Star Wars fan and haven’t been to a theme park in over 15 years. I like rides in general, and I’m fine with speed, but free falls are a hard no and spinning or simulator-style rides tend to make me motion sick.
A few details:
What should I prioritize and what should I avoid?
Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

Hi everyone! A couple of weeks ago I posted here asking about the "holy grail" features you’ve always wanted to see in theme park management games. The response and ideas in the comments were amazing! Based on a lot of the discussion. Specially around deeper logistics, backstage management, and realistic systems.
Since this sub gave me so much inspiration, I wanted to share this early version back with you all.
Thanks again for all the great discussions on the last thread!

Hi, has anyone been to Energylandia during their halloween promotion that if you get dressed up for halloween you can get cheaper tickets? On the site it says that it has to be a FULL costume and I was wondering how strict they are with what counts and what doesn’t.

According to Six Flags' website, the only hypers still listed as Temporarily Closed are the 2 at Canada's Wonderland, Behemoth and Leviathan. Could that mean the other parks opening them back up this weekend? Let the speculation begin...

doing a split park trip across central florida later this season hitting both universal and disney over four days, and we are trying to find an off-property base where four adults can crash without cramming into basic double queen rooms.
westgate vacation villas resort popped up with low rates on booking sites for a two-bedroom villa with full living space and a kitchen. when looking through westgate vacation villas reviews though, pretty much every post is either people yelling about timeshare tour salespeople at check-in or owners complaining about association dues.
tbh we want to book a good hotel for cash, make our own breakfasts, and get out the door fast without sitting in dead-stop traffic between parks. um so for people who stayed here on a regular booking and drove their own car to the parking garages every day, does cutting through west irlo bronson and sherberth add a massive traffic headache during park opening, or is it actually a practical hub for jumping between both resorts?

In 2013, Drayton manor, a UK theme park there was a 15 minute musical experience called a fish story. I can't seem to find much about it online other than the fish's name was Deepo. I have been haunted by it in the back of my mind for years. Please if anyone knows anything more about it or even has footage of it that would be appreciated.

After the recent shutdown of X2, the tragic death of Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem on Goliath, and now reports of pieces falling off the Millennium Force roller coaster, it seems like the American media is doing everything it can to portray roller coasters in a negative light. You can clearly see the passive aggressive coverage from outlets like TMZ, especially if you look at their Instagram posts. Never in my life have I seen roller coasters portrayed so negatively in the media.
Do you think this could eventually lead lawmakers and politicians to push for bans on most, if not all, roller coasters in America, considering the way the media is portraying them? I don’t want to look back 10 years from now and realize that I was right. In fact, I desperately want to be wrong about this. I just have this feeling that, eventually, people will start protesting and boycotting amusement and theme parks, which could ultimately lead to the downfall of roller coasters in America. I genuinely hope that never happens, but with the way things are going, it’s becoming a growing concern of mine. This is just something that’s been on my mind lately, and I wanted to hear other people’s perspectives. What are your thoughts? Do you think I’m overthinking this, or could the negative media coverage eventually have serious consequences for the future of roller coasters in America?

Going to Knotts Spooky Farm this weekend in So Cal. In my opinion it has far surpassed even Magic Mountain’s Frightfest and Disney and Universals parks here. As a thoosie I genuinely think it is the best Halloween amusement park set up for spooky season. Disclaimer and caveat I have not been to Busch Gardens so there’s could be better.
