HomeDecor I am basically an art restorer now
I thrift at least weekly to find MCM/vintage ceramics to use as cachepots because I have an embarrassingly massive plant collection and I am too poor to pay retail prices (seriously who can pay $25+ for a plant pot???). In my Midwest area, women loooooved ceramics (edit: 50+ years ago, but now those women have passed away and their children have donated their collections) and thrift stores here are full of MCM and vintage ceramics planters and cachepots of all themes and colorways for like $2.99 each.
I saw this kind of clumsily painted and questionably glittered pot at goodwill this morning, and something in my mind told me it was awesome underneath (TL;DR: IT WAS!!!!!)
I had isopropanol and acetone handy (edit: at home! Not at goodwill!) but I was hoping I could get the paint off without chemicals and tried the least destructive method first: an hour long soak in hot soapy water. It loosened it up and I was able to rub it all off with a toothbrush and a small wire brush. Looked like (edit: someone with terrible taste had applied) a coat of cheap blue acrylic paint and then a coat of cheap black acrylic and then finished it off with glitter. LOL I DEMAND TO KNOW WHO COMMISSIONED THIS!
I was not expecting it to look like this!!!! I'm not very familiar with jardiniére pots. I saw similar orange/white/gold jardiniére pots on Etsy but not this exact one.
I replanted a philo in it; don't worry fellow plant people...it's planted in a liner pot inside so it can be removed for watering.
Bonus pics are 2 vintage dogs and a chia Bob Ross that I thrifted this weekend. The dogs will be plant decorations on the shelves and I'm a Gen X kid that always wanted a chia pet and now I have Bob Ross!!

Miscellaneous Latest haul from the goodwill outlet bins!
All from my local goodwill outlet bins store, where most items are sold by weight: breakables (like glassware/planters/stoneware/shells) is 99 cents/lb, other hardgoods are $1.99/lb, and clothing items are $2.99/lb.
1) & 2) Cement statuary bust planter, cost: ~$4.50. Will gift to mom for her garden. For the first pic I placed a fake air plant (also a thrift find from earlier!) to show how it might look when mom eventually places a real plant in it.
3) & 4) Atlantic Mold Conch shell planter, cost: ~$2. Will also gift to mom for her garden collection. 2nd pic with my fake air plant to see how it’ll look with real plant later.
5) & 6) “Clay in Motion” Neher pottery signed hand warmer mug, cost: ~75 cents.
7) & 8) Signed Original Van Briggle Art pottery mini pitcher/vase, cost: ~50 cents.
9), 10), & 11) Polished cut stone trinket box, cost: ~25 cents, & Elizabeth Arden porcelain heart-shape trinket container, cost: ~50 cents.
12) Tiger Cowrie + Purple-top Tiger Cowrie shells, cost: ~75 cents.
13) & 14) Fox (or Wolf) Stirrup Cup, cost: ~$1.50. Only markings on it indicate it was a 3rd place award for some kind of event. Probably silver-plated and not pure silver, as there are no other markings.
15) & 16) E. O. Brody Co. Milk Glass compote vase, cost: ~$1.50.
17) Anchor Hocking mini glass cruet, cost: ~25 cents. Will be perfect vase for small flowers!
18) Patagonia trucker hat + unknown brand embroidered belt, cost: ~$3.

Furniture Catch and release 💔
A few months ago I spotted this pristine Henredon leather couch at a local Arc. I sat down and could tell it was something high-end by the plushness of the down-filled cushions and the support of the frame. I spent 20 minutes sitting there try to figure out where this could fit in my home.
Sadly, I couldn’t justify bringing her into my home full of small children. I know leather is durable and gets better with age and use, but I would have been devastated if one of my kids had taken a sharpie or ball point pen to this beauty.
I still think about her and pray she went somewhere where she’s loved and cherished. 😭

Kitchen Fun mug
I paid 50 cents for this mug :). It gives me a good chuckle every time I see it so that makes it priceless to me! Interestingly the bottom says Japan. Also let me know if you get the joke bc it took me an embarrassingly long time and it was bothering me all day lol.

HomeDecor Found a really cool 1940 New York Worlds Fair souvenir trinket box at a flea market today. It has a really cool multi colored wooden inlay. It needs a bit of cleaning, or maybe it needs to be refinished, but it's a really cool piece.
