Grad email
My friends have all gotten their grad emails and I haven’t 😬 please say I’m not the only one, is it time to panic?

I think Spotify has changed their student plan where you have to reinstate it every year.
It’s $8 (bastards, used to be $6). But you might be getting charged the full $16 🥲
luckily I am a broke uni student with not even the $16 in my account and picked up on this. Make sure to check it.
If you are a student and haven’t already, get the student plan. $8 is basically a coffee these days, and $16 is a meal; so save yourself some money each month.

Hey everyone!
I'm currently finishing my Bachelor of Arts at and was expecting to graduate in December 2026.
However, I recently received an email saying I'm not eligible to graduate because I'm apparently missing 6 units of general electives.
The issue is that I previously studied a different degree at UQ before transferring into my Bachelor of Arts. When I transferred, UQ granted me 12 units of credit for six of my previous courses, but for some reason, three other courses I had completed (worth another 6 units) weren't transferred across.
The faculty has now contacted me and specifically identified those three courses as being able to potentially satisfy my outstanding elective requirements. They've asked me to submit a Credit or Exemption application, which I've already done.
I'm a bit frustrated because I've already completed these courses at UQ, and I wasn't aware they hadn't been credited towards my current degree until the graduation eligibility review. I haven't done anything wrong or failed to complete the necessary study, but now my graduation depends on getting this sorted before the 4 December deadline.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
I'd really appreciate hearing about anyone else's experiences or advice. Thanks!

Hello :) Currently a second year Software Engineering student. After a rough second year due to mental health I will be receiving a Progression Intervention notice. After this year, I would need to do 5 courses in fifth year to make up for them. I was hoping to switch into compsci, which would remove the pressure of the internship requirement to graduate. It would also have me doing the 5 courses over fourth year instead, letting me lighten up next semester and possibly do 3 courses to get me smoothly back into uni. There are also some 1st year courses to do that Software Engineering did not require. All my current courses would count towards it due to their overlap.
I was wondering if it would be sensible to contact them about starting a PIP now rather than waiting, and if they normally reject these as im a bit worried about that. I feel if I can make the switch I’ll be in a good position to pick studies back up slowly.

To those who’ve done the demo, how was it?
As they provide pretty much no info on blackboard about it, what sort of questions did you get asked?

I am doing first foundation engineering, and next semester, I will only have two courses that are mandatory for all engineering students, and thus I have two subjects freed up. Are there any super easy, GPA- boosting electives I can do?

I’ve tried logging into the student management system but I can’t see it there. All that comes up is offering to be a scribed for disabled students or something

Anyone else having issues of team / group mates overusing AI in shared assessment pieces?
Currently working on a shared assessment piece and I don't know how much of what we've written is actually human. At what stage do you get worried and flag your co-ordinator? Asking here because I want to fix this without Uni intervention and being vague in case group members are here too.

im in second year but realising how much work i'd need to put in to get first class honours at the end of my degree, just putting a lot of worry and pressure on myself since i fucked myself over in the first year of my degree (pharmacy) so im beating myself up over the fact that i should've been trying from the start. dunno if i should keep the high standard for myself or just "pass" my courses.

Hi everyone, I'll be starting at UQ for my master program on Gatton campus in Feb 2027. I'm an international student and I'm still not deciding where to live. I want to experience Australia but I'm not sure if living in Gatton would fulfill that bcs it's in the more rural place.
Is it feasible if I live in Brisbane and then commute to Gatton for courses? Is the intercampus busses really reliable in terms of timing? Or do any of you who attend the Gatton campus have any tips?
Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any experience getting a 3rd extension on the same assignment approved?? It was due on Friday and I got it extended to Sunday and then Tuesday but I’m still too unwell and it requires a filming element.
Is my extension likely to be approved? What do I need to submit to get it approved? (I have filled out the assessment management plan and can get another medical certificate)
Thanks

Hello all,
I'm in my final sem currently and I'm currently doing 3 courses which is an extra 2 units than what I need to graduate, I was wondering if anyone might know who I should contact about choosing which units will count towards my degree and which will be extra? I'm in HASS
Sorry to ask on here! I've sent a few emails to the hass faculty but I'm not having much luck getting a reply and I'd like to get this sorted as soon as I can,
Thanks!

Hi everyone!
I'm a male international student moving to Brisbane in early February 2027 to start my Master of Audiology Studies at UQ.
I'm currently looking for a room in a shared house or apartment, ideally somewhere near the St Lucia campus.
What I'm looking for:
A little about me: I'm tidy, fairly quiet, and respectful of other people's privacy. I'll be spending quite a bit of time studying, so I'd prefer a relaxed and reasonably quiet household. I'm also happy to socialise with housemates occasionally.
I'm currently overseas, so I won't be able to attend inspections in person until February, but I'm happy to arrange a video call or virtual inspection beforehand.
I know it's still a little early, but I thought I'd start looking now in case anyone has a room becoming available around that time.
If you have anything suitable, or know someone looking for a housemate, feel free to comment or send me a DM.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, just submitted a hurdle report for BIOE3001 and I gotta say, I don't know if I passed. I've always struggled when it comes to coding, and for this assessment, I just couldn't understand how to write the code for the final half so I've submitted less than 50% of the report.
Has anyone struggled with this course before? I feel like it's so hard to keep up with what's going on.
It doesn't help that within this week I've had 5 assessments due along with 3 presentations to go with them. So safe to say I just didn't have the time or mental capacity to lock in.
I just hope that this isn't a me issue

Hey, I'm looking for someone to take over my lease on a private room located at 47 Munro St with an ensuite, 5 minutes by bus from UQ. The bus stop is right outside.
Ideal takeover is mid-November to early December, but anytime in December or up to early January is fine too. My plans have changed for next year, so I'm handing it over. Rent is $385/week.
If you're interested, or know someone who might be, dm me for more info.

Taking into account contact hours and study, how much is it reasonable to expect my kid to work whilst completing the Bachelor of Medical Science / Doctor of Medicine (program 2578)? This is the two year undergraduate course followed by four years of the MD. Year 1 consists of eight core courses.
Does this capacity to work part time change much as the course progresses and how?
Are most of the cohort well funded doctors kids who don’t need to work?
Do the undergrad med students take the same classes as those doing undergrad biomedical science?
How well do the young ones who start this course at age 17 integrate with the older graduate entry students later?
Insights appreciated!
Thank you :)

Every time I see university merch from the US I get a little jealous. Michigan, UCLA, Harvard, etc. all have designs people actually want to wear in public and not just because they go there, but because the clothes ACTUALLY LOOK GOOD.
Meanwhile, I feel like most UQ merch is just the shield slapped onto a basic hoodie or shirt. And we don’t even have a proper mascot 😭
Then I look at UQ merch and it’s usually:
> [UQ shield]
> UQ
> on a hoodie
Maybe im just ranting but i feel like the current merch is lacking creativity or just good basic design, if it actually looked good and was reasonably priced i’d happily buy a hoodie at the very least. Am I being too harsh? Has anyone actually bought UQ merch they really liked?

Anyone do tutoring for year 12s? Preferably on the southside.
