Discussion Anyone else use their Airpods as expensive ear plugs?

I mean, you don’t have to have something constantly playing at all times when wearing the Airpods. Sometimes, you just want peace and quiet while at the supermarket, and that’s okay.
Just enjoy the fact that you don’t have to put up with the daily noises around you when you’re outside.

Anyone else feel the same way?

As the title says, upgraded to Airpods pro 3 a couple of days ago and enjoying it. Great sounding, superb ANC and light weight. Though a little too white for my preference. Looking for a good case cover. Any recommendations are welcome.

Discussion Airpods Pro 3 Noise Cancellation and iOS 27.2 Update

I noticed that the noise cancellation of my newly bought AirPods Pro 3 literally yesterday was having a phenomenal noise reduction but after I updated today to 27.2 coming from 27.1 the noise cancellation diminished because I can tell the difference because I can hear my electric fans now while I’m laying down before and after the update But before I cannot literally hear it, now I can now hear it slightly. 🥹

Question AirPods 5 ANC noise

Hello,
I recently bought AirPods 5 with ANC and when I activate it ( either ANC, adaptive or transparency ), there’s a very annoying sound like I’m using my hair dryer. The only way that it stops is by deactivating it on control center. It is the first time I’m using ANC earbuds so I was wondering if it’s a normal behavior or I should return it ?
Thanks for your help!

Advice One AirPod works and the other doesn’t.

My right AirPod works but my left doesn’t. I have tried everything and even researched it. I reset my own phone and even “forget this device” on the AirPods. They were working just fine yesterday and my left was working perfectly. Don’t understand why this is happening

Question AirPods 5 wireless version

Anyone have issues with the anc white noise being loud when no sound is playing, it keeps bothering me. I returned the pro 3s for the 5s since the tips were uncomfortable no matter the size. The 5s sit well in my ears without any discomfort, the sound is excellent but the white noise is so obvious.

Question Noise Cancellation wont turn off on left airpod when switched to transparency (APP3)

Hey so when I switch my airpods pro 3s to transparency mode, the pressure/underwater sensation remains only on my left airpod. The right airpod works completely fine.

I have tried factory resetting them but the issue is still there.

Has anyone else ran into this issue? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Question Music stops sometimes and continues after seconds…

So guys I have both AirPods Pro 3 for running / gym / exercising and the 5 for my home… I don’t remember if this is happening on the pro 3 too but today on my 5 I realised that sometimes the music stops for 1 second and continues or that the music is faster sometimes (like +2.0 speed) and then it continues normal… I hope you understand what I mean… Also this is happening on Spotify and Apple Music… Do you have any ideas ?

Discussion why no customizable “tap to __” on later models?

i have AP2s because i don’t love the shape of the newer ones, but that’s honestly not the dealbreaker for me - i don’t understand why you have to pinch the mf tips on the AP4s to skip a song? On the earlier models you can change a tap to mean different things and i don’t understand why they would stop making that an option. i tried the 4s but pinching the tip is more annoying than the tap and also they kept falling out of my ears when i pinched. I’m mad bc my 2s are about to need replacing but it feels looney to pay so much for refurbished 2s. am i the only person bothered by this?

Advice How well can AirPods Pro help restore my lost music quality?

21 years old, and recently experienced SSNHL (sudden sensorineural hearing loss) in my left ear that has ended up stabilizing at around a 15db higher threshold than my right ear. The difference is primarily between 4khz and 8khz frequencies. My day to day life thank goodness remains unaffected, except for music, where the difference is way more noticeable. I’ve always been pretty tuned to sound quality, and can’t help but notice that the shimmer from cymbals, instrument separation, and overall tone is diminished, fuzzy, and feels flat in my worse ear. I’ve tried adjusting the balance in my earbuds but this just makes the music louder while remaining low quality. I was wondering people’s opinions on Apple’s audiogram/hearing aid feature for the AirPods Pro 2 and 3, specifically for music. Does the amplification do much in the 8khz range? Could it help much with frequency separation issues? Most importantly, is there a noticeable difference in sound quality or tinniness when only boosting one ear (like i’m looking to do)? Any advice helps a ton, thanks!

Advice AirPods Pro 3 tips slipping? Check for ear oil before changing sizes!

Before you change your AirPods Pro 3 ear tip size, check if the tips are oily! 🎧
I kept having an issue where my XXS ear tips would slip a little, so I thought maybe I needed a different size. I even tried wearing my AirPods Pro 3 without the tips.
Then I tried the Large tips and noticed they felt much grippier. That made me realize the issue might not have been the size at all!
I wiped my XXS tips with a clean, dry cloth and switched back to them. Suddenly, they felt much more secure. 😭
What I learned:
Natural ear oils and moisture can make silicone tips slippery.
Before switching sizes, check whether your tips need cleaning.
Gently wipe the tips with a clean, dry cloth.
If you remove the tips to wash them, let them dry completely before reattaching them.
Choose the size that feels comfortable and secure and gives you a good acoustic seal.
This was my personal experience, so it might not solve everyone’s fit issues. If your tips still slip when clean and dry, another size might genuinely fit better.
TL;DR: Before buying new ear tips or changing sizes, try cleaning the ones you already have! 🧼🎧

Advice Long Term Review/Comparison; AirPods Pro 3 vs AirPods 5

Post image
283 Upvotes

Hello everyone, after a month of usage with the AirPods 5 and almost a year with the AirPods Pro 3, I thought I should share my findings with the internet! (DISCLAIMER: No AI was used in this! All my unbiased opinion/thoughts)

Lets begin with my "credentials". I am not a big poster/reviewer but there is not much good genuine content for earbuds anymore so I decided to write this up. I have used as follows: Galaxy Buds 3, Beats Flex, Beats Solo 2/3, AirPods 4, AirPods 5 Wireless Charging, AirPods Pro 3, Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro, and a whole bunch of those generic fakes.

Beginning in what I believe is most important; a good fit. For me the AirPods Pro 3 have a superior fit thanks to the silicone ear-tips. They are snug as a bug, and have minimal sound leakage/movement when walking or stationary. That being said the AirPods 5 have a class-leading shape for open-ear earbuds, and they are almost as comfortable as the pros for long listening sessions. My only concern with the 5's is the sound leakage. If you are in a quiet room or office environment and you are jamming out, the people nearby might be able to sneak a listen too. That being said, it’s a minor complaint that is not important for most people.

Now lets talk about what they live in whatever there not in your ears, the case! Both of these have excellent cases with phenomenal build quality, my only nitpick being the glossy white plastic that picks up scratches when you look at it. The overall case volume is similar, with the 5's taking the award for being smallest for your pockets. One thing that I love about the Pro's case is precision finding, as it's much more precise than the general guidelines gives on the 5's.

And this is the part I hate writing the most due to its subjectivity and divisiveness, the sound quality. For my ears they sound very similar with the pros edging it out slightly thanks to crispier treble and lower sub-bass. They also provide a slightly larger soundstage compared to the 5's. That's not saying the 5's sound bad by any means, just think of them as a slightly worse.

Noise cancelling? Its a draw (I know I will get hate for this). Some scenarios perform better on the Pro's, some better with the 5's but with music playing, you will not hear much.

And that's it from me, I don't really use much of the other features so I won't go in depth with them. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them below. Thanks!

Advice I can't find my right AirPod ANYWHERE, I've tried everything

I fell asleep with both AirPods in my ears Sunday night and woke up Monday morning only finding my left AirPod. I turned my bed inside out leftside right finding it but couldn't, used "find my" to search for it but it couldn't even connect??? No audio and no "find nearby", NOTHING is working?

I am 100% sure my AirPod is inside this room but I can't seem to find it anywhere, it still says that it's here in this room and that it has 20% charge left in it but it's nowhere to be found, anything helps, literally ANYTHING

Advice APP3 and ear wax (let me explain)

Hopefully I'm not the only one that experiences this but I find that ear wax can quickly degrade sound quality on either of the buds. Yes, I have good personal hygiene and yes I clean my ears daily. I just have waxy ears and that's beyond my control.

What's frustrating is that one of the buds will sound significantly quieter than the other when this happens and I have to clean it well (I even bought a cheap tool to help). Twice now I've torn the mesh liner in the ear tip while cleaning which is really annoying.

Anyone else experience this and/or have any advice?

Question Noticing clipping on airpods 5

Hello, i recently got the airpods 5 (about 2 weeks of light use) and have noticed some clipping or distortion in certain songs. The sound is otherwise very clean and detailed, but in some tracks, i can hear what sounds like clipping or unwanted distortion.

Im trying to figure out wheather this is simply an issue with the original recordings or if i might have a defective pair.

The clipping is audible in both the left and right earbuds, i tested in spotify using the highest available audio quality.

I notice this with noise cancellation turned on and off also.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Question AirPods 5

Hi! My AirPods 5 sometimes make a strange, muffled, bass-like buzzing sound in the right earbud when ANC is on, especially without music. It seems to happen when the stem touches my skin and disappears when ANC is off.
Has anyone experienced this? Could it be an ANC issue or a defective earbud? Thanks!
