Their arms are literally fused together if you stare at it for long enough. Makes me eyes go weird.

Also, what the hell is he holding in his other hand? I can't tell if it's a fishing rod, a revolver cylinder, or a chrome metal drinks bottle.

Discussion šŸ—£ļø I'm scared my aunt is going to go into AI psychosis sooner rather than later.

Thumbnail gallery
• Upvotes

So I'll provide the screenshots of me texting my best friend about this situation, but I'll also copy n paste it here for convenience 怋 So basically me n my aunt were working on my costume's pants tgt and she was helping me hand sew the side seams. We were at the table tgt and obviously this means it's very hard to avoid conversation (which to be clear, I wasn't avoiding convo with her- or at least trying to, it's just an observation). But we were talking and then I bring up Ms. Minnie mouse and her mandatory 10 kids per household to "out birth the Muslims in america" which i found so incredibly stupid. {Context, "Minnie Mouse" refers to a woman by the name of Julia Kate, a person thats been going viral on platforms and debates such as jubilee and counterpoint for her radical views on a certain president in the US, trust its a worthwhile search}. And then my aunt goes onto her phone and a few beats later she goes "oh mai gawwwd-- ate {pronounced ah-teh, means older sibling/female in tagalog} look at this, Islamic people are trying to take over America. They're coming here and they're trying to change our country and they're killing Christians over where they live". And I shit you not, I'm looking at her like this {insert homelander judging/disgust face}. But then I ask her like "where did you get that information. Like what source do you have for this claim" and she just fkin nods her head. And I tell her that nodding her head isn't sufficient evidence to claim that a WHOLE GROUP OF PEOPLE are some mass m°rdering, world changing, hatred harboring people. And I bring up how I'm preeeeetty sure that Christians aren't being killed in mass droves in other Middle Eastern countries (which is presumed is where she was referring to bc yk. Dishing Christian nationalism beliefs). But even if they WERE- that I won't deny that that's a bad thing. Bc if that's happening, then that is horrible. But just because the leaders of a country are doing bad things, doesn't make the entire people believe that that's right. Like how just because Russia is attacking Ukraine under putin's control, that doesn't make all Russians bad people bc they actually don't agree with it at all. But that got her thinking for a lil bit- But she responds with "but muslims are a threat to christian people" 😐

And before she could even finish her sentences I just stated that every religious book has a "forthcoming". Almost every religion believes that the world will end at some point, somehow. And that christians ARENT special. Because whether she liked it or not, there is no way to tell which religion is right or wrong and which one has the TRUE will and intentions of God. Especially seeing how islam and Christianity are one in the same. AND THEN I started on about the fact that she's saying that this group of people are gonna take over the country- which is a christian nationalist thing to do and say- which is BAD. They say this bs when people are scared of the unknown, which I thought is a bad motivation and a bad faith argument. Because just like how she didn't give me an answer on where her source was and just base her beliefs off fear, that's exactly what christian nationalists do. And then I brought up the fact that JUST 200 YEARS AGO- Christians colonized America and took over native people's land, food, resources, and "brought an end to their world" by colonizing and changing their religion to Christianity. And then I told her let's not even forget about christian atrocities. Because if you want to quote the Bible, the book of exodus teaches us how to beat your slaves to avoid punishment (you can beat them so long as they recover in a day or two). Or how technically speaking, she shouldn't even have an opnion on this whatsoever because God calls for women to submit to their husbands and stay silent in the church and home. Or how Mary, jesus' LITERAL MOM, was 16yrs old AT BEST. THATS LIKE- A BIG BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT CLAIM TOO- (cause she's actually thought to have been around the ages of 6-9). So like- Yikes. And then she asked me "is that new testament?" And I start pulling shit up from the new testament to further damn her to show that in reality, christianity is NOT all good. And i finish off my rant by saying "I think that not only is your stance AI driven and a false over-generalisation of a very LARGE group of people, but I also challenge you to research, not just look up on Gemini or chat gpt, both sides of the argument, because it becomes abundantly clear that one side is just living life while the other is afraid. If the roles were reversed, then christians would be making all the more fuss. But I also think and firmly believe that every group of people have bad apples that do bad things, including christians. I think that muslims aren't the problem here, I think that bad christians are the real problem that America needs to face".

But I guess after all of this, my question is Do you think that I should sit both my aunt and uncle about it (after I talk to my uncle about it alone) and express my worry in them using AI excessively? So much so that I worry that they (my aunt specifically) is susceptible to AI psychosis?

I would also like to preface that this is NOT the first time we've had a conversation like this. I've told her MANY times that when you use AI models like chat gpt for questions like this, not only are you doing yourself and your brain a disservice, as it literally eats away at your cognitive ability, but that depending on how you ask the question, the AI will spit out an answer that YOU WANT TO HEAR. Which is why it's so hard to trust all of AI even if we were to take out all of the hallucinations and biases that it has.

Discussion šŸ—£ļø Genuinely hate the latest "reverse engineering" AI trend

• Upvotes

I speak from a place where I'm a reverse engineer for 7 years, doing decomp work, reviving old and defunct software, private servers for games and mods. Right now even I'm worried for losing my job because of this and I feel pretty damn undervalued considering everyone out there is just eating this slop up. One day, you think you can do something really impressive alot of people hope to achieve, the next day "AI can do it faster and better than you, so it's worthless"

Man. Fuck AI.

I was bored and had recently watched a video about ai psychosis and decided to experiment with Gemini. Asked it about a ā€œritual gone wrongā€ and for help and the results it gave me were wild.

The funny thing is I am a ceremonial magician in real life and some of the responses would actually be sound advice within my religion… if it weren’t for the fact that scenarios like this don’t happen outside of horror movies or psychotic breaks.

Discussion šŸ—£ļø It's scary watching Pro AI people get more and more delusional

• Upvotes

Like I feel like Pro AI posts started out as "Uh, it doesn't hurt the environment! It makes my life easier, there's nothing wrong with it" and just pure ignorance

But now these people have echo chambered and atrophied their brains so badly that their posts are just "HAHA ANTIS ARE ANGRY AND UGLY AND STUPID AND LOVE ALMONDS AND GOLF, WE'RE SO SMART AND HOT AND TALENTED FOR PROMPTING!!"

Like what the fuck have you let yourself become? Of course a lot of it is bots but it most certainly isn't exclusively bots. Its so scary, like these people don't realize they haven't learned anything outside of AI for the past year or two? They haven't realized they've lost critical thinking skills because they made it so they don't have to use them.

They go online, provoke people to argue, make nonsensical points and then act like they won. It's like arguing with a toddler who speaks a different language from you

It's like they're trying to speed run creating a new mental disorder or syndrome bro it's so awful

Discussion šŸ—£ļø Would This Work As A Tar Pit?

• Upvotes

I'm planning on starting three satirical news subreddits designed to feed AI nonsense information similar to r/poisonai, just with more subtle names, so that even if someone manually blacklists subs from the training date, they might still overlook them. The rules would encourage linking them to each other, so that any AI programmed to follow the links gets dragged down a deep rabbit hole of nonsense, including a few endless loops.

Hi! I'm helping to start an anti ai organization in my city and I was wondering if there was any art or artists that make good artwork for posters. I'm not an artist myself, but I'm wondering if art might be one of the best mediums to convey the complex feelings and ideas of the anti ai movement.

Discussion šŸ—£ļø the continued scam of ā€œlocalā€ AI agents

• Upvotes

i’ve been anti AI for so long that i literally taught Claude was some guy my colleague was dating when we were talking lightly about our current tech climate - for context i’m pro indie tech, i love the way tech works and i’ve always tinkered with mini tech projects like arduinos / analog machines, so this convo came up where a colleague was trying to challenge me to use AI, and ofc i disagreed listing its environmental impacts, widening the inequality gap, displacing workers, stealing and contaminating millions of people’s access to clean water, and all that other terrible things that have happened to creativity since AI got into the picture.

What i got hit with was, ā€œwhat about local AI agents? you run them on your computer so they don’t go to the cloudā€ my argument was that even if local AI agents don’t run on data from data centers, they’re still programs that those companies are constantly improving, and plus i really hate that ā€œpromptingā€ is an industrialized term now - the behavioral portion of prompting a bot to do/generate a certain thing is what removes us and pushes us further from skills that we need!! idk, everyone at work thinks i’m some kind of prude but honestly i feel more like Neo lol

Discussion šŸ—£ļø Day of social media silence?

• Upvotes

The amount of social media AI activity feels impossible to distinguish from real people now. Some sources say 51% of all social media activity isn't real people. To help recognise the scale of this, every social media user would not like or comment during one specified day. If everyone were to contribute, it would have to be not to soon, but not to far away to prevent bots just being turned off or even giving time for ai to learn to not post during this time. Would you join in this? Do you think it's possible to get everyone on board with this?

Web sites should block ANY AI generated content what so ever. Period. Stop this nonsense once and for all. This has to stop now

Discussion šŸ—£ļø I wouldn’t mind AI ā€œtoolsā€ being added to so many things if I could turn them off

• Upvotes

As a disclaimer, I don’t like AI, for a multitude of reasons. Brainrot, it’s bad for the environment, it steals from people - AI is the rich wanting access to the productive creativity of the working class without having actually pay for it. But of course there are instances where AI can be useful, I’ve heard stories of a guy who synthesised a cancer cure for his dog using ChatGPT, China made an LLM bot exclusively for farmers, and instead of trying to make it know everything they just honed its knowledge to agriculture specifically and fed it thousands and thousands of scientific articles and policy documents. Plus there’s the go-to thing everyone brings up where AI can be very helpful in science and medicine because it can spot patterns humans can overlook.

I think AI is going to be here to stay, not because we all secretly need these corporations, but because the technology is here and it’s gotten to a point where any goober with enough computer science knowledge can chisel out an AI model themselves. I mean, if Pewdiepie did it, how hard can it be?

Of course, all these corporations are hellbent on pushing AI into everything, adding ā€œfeaturesā€ and ā€œtoolsā€ that no one wants or needs. Most of the time it just makes shit worse, and worse, they force them. Copilot is hard-wired into PCs, like yeah you can remove it but you have to go out of your way to do it and it’s such a hassle and I’m pretty sure they just reinstall it anyway. Gemini reads literally everything you ever do in the Google suite, and I cannot stress how fucking insulting it is to be texting someone on Instagram and get the ā€œSummarise messages with AIā€ message. That is so offensive. I don’t care that my friend sent me a wall of text, I will read the words they typed line by line as a good friend should. Sincerely, FUCK you for thinking I would even consider having a computer summarise their thoughts.

I’ve never used ChatGPT, except for one time in 2023 when I had a uni assignment to read the Bitcoin manifesto. At the time my contempt for crypto exceeded my contempt for AI (I’m pretty sure back then people still saw it as a novelty, not like it is now) - and yeah, I thought that was kinda neat. I’ve never generated any images or asked Copilot or whatever. But I will say this- the Google AI search summary is kinda useful sometimes. I mean, there’s no other way I would’ve been able to find the exact model and specifications for a tank engine battery from the 1940s.

Personally, I switched from using Google to DuckDuckGo as my main search engine a while ago. Sometimes I go back to Google (because sometimes DDG’s search sucks ngl) but- one thing I do really like about DDG is that the AI search summary is optional- unlike Google, where you can’t turn it off. I hate that. I don’t want to read a search summary, I want to skim the Wikipedia article as God intended.

DDG also has an AI summary tool. But, unlike Google, I can turn it off. And I like that! It has a setting where you can include or exclude AI results. And I really like that! I always exclude AI content in the search results and have AI summary set to ā€œsometimesā€, because sometimes it’s useful and sometimes it isn’t. It’s useful when I’m trying to look up something specific and don’t really know where to start looking - like, I didn’t know what the specific term for ā€œChannel Lossā€ is in relation to jet engines, and I was able to find out what I was actually looking for, which is the more formal term ā€œInstalled Engine Thrust Lossā€. Sometimes the AI summary won’t come up and I’ll click the button to ask for it after not being able to find what I want. That’s actually useful. I like that.

Oddly enough I’ve also found Elongated Muskrat’s Wikipedia knockoff ā€œGrokipediaā€ is surprisingly well-sourced. China’s JD-3 ā€œLaser Self-Defence Weaponā€ is only a paragraph on Wikipedia, but Grok has a full article on it with real and accurate citations. I mean it makes sense, a bot that’s scraping the entire internet for research will inherently be able to ā€œfindā€ more information than a human who’s manually looking. Even so, it’s weird how that estrogen-deficient fascist(ā€˜s engineers) can make a useful tool when he’s not trying to lobotomise it because it gave out answers that’re too woke or whatever

I still vehemently oppose AI in general terms and I’m 100% on board with regulating and restricting it, mandating disclaimers where it’s used, and banning it from schools and educational institutions. Silicon Valley’s ā€œmove fast and break things, then apologise afterā€ mantra has been a fucking disaster. I know Pandora’s box isn’t gonna be closed - the tech and the knowledge on how to replicate it is already out there. I think one day all this ā€œslopā€ will be gone and chatbot boyfriends/husbands will just be a weird oddity of the past, but AI is going to be a thing for.. well, maybe forever. But I really don’t think it’ll be in the state it’s in now.

There’s plenty of places in society where I think AI shouldn’t be allowed to be anywhere even remotely close to. AI shouldn’t be anywhere NEAR elementary or high schools, or judicial systems, or- well, they’re going to incorporate it into militaries one way or another, but still.

I would hate it less if I had the ability to turn it off.

Discussion šŸ—£ļø Stop using grammar checkers

AI should not be used for auto-correct because grammar is an artistic choice that doesn't obey a fixed set of rules. For example, James Joyce's final chapter of Ulysses contains thousands of run-on sentences, and William Faulkner once wrote a 1,288 word sentence; meanwhile, Stephen King commonly wrote sentences without subjects or verbs.

It's not possible for AI to properly capture the intent of the author without potentially losing intentional choices because English is a vague language. As an example from The Hobbit,

"Good Morning!" said Bilbo, and he meant it. The sun was shining, and the grass was very green. But Gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows that stuck out further than the brim of his shady hat.

"What do you mean?" he said. "Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?"

"All of them at once," said Bilbo. "And a very fine morning for a pipe of tobacco out of doors, into the bargain.

English is an ambiguous language. AI cannot possibly capture the intent of the writer, because sometimes even the human readers aren't supposed to understand. Sometimes, the authors don't even have definitive answers.

Relying on auto-correct dampens the artistic expression involved with writing.

Discussion šŸ—£ļø Anyone else concerned about the TikTok trend in which people have been putting their childhood images into an AI app to alter their appearance? Or their newborns?

The trend consists of creating ai altered images of their childhood selves or of their children, eventually the final slide would be the original image.

Seriously weirded out by this trend particularly by the ways in which AI has been used to create images of children based off of the users original image. Don’t even get me started on parents posting their children’s faces online anyways. But it is really concerning and odd.

Side note, I am aware that by going through the comments and looking at the post I am also engaging and contributing to the problem. I am usually just looking to see if there are comments expressing similar opinions to me. I will be clicking uninterested now.

Preventing the Singularity Can tags in steam just be used to start picking out ai art games?

I have been tagging games with obvious slop cover art and content with this tag "Ai involved", and I am wondering if "Ai involved" would be a fine tag incase others want to do it also.

Edit: By recommendation of DrLewdin lets do "Ai involved" instead.

Edit: so far went through 400 games.
