Why do my cat occasionally lift his right paw when drinking water?

Sometimes my cat just lifts his right paw when drinking water like for 20 seconds just sipping water holding his right paw up, and I'm pretty sure he's not injured in any way, I inspected the first couple times but not any more, he's fine. He's walking around all fine and dandy just as he always has. ( Fyi I got him a couple months ago after my uncle passed I took him in, he's 10 yrs old, human yrs)

New cat owner!!!

Hi so I just got a new cat almost a week ago. He’s a stray and I found him outside (I asked around if he was owned and was told that he was just a stray and does not belong to anyone), and since then I’ve took him in and my bf has been helping me care for him.

We took him to the vet a few days ago for a physical exam and we were told that he’s about 3-4 years old and he currently weighs 11.4lbs. I have never owned a pet, so I don’t know anything about owning a cat. He doesn’t like to drink water out of his water bowl so I’ve been mixing it in with his wet food, but I’d love some advice please because he’s been very active at night and is more chill during the day which has been affecting my sleep big time :((( I’m in nursing school so I’d like to make his sleep schedule similar to mine… also what treats, toys, and items should I get him?? Pls help!!!!

hello everyone. my fiancé and i had got this guy who was a stray for a little while after his main caregiver sadly passed away. over the past few months of us taking him in, we’ve noticed that his eyes never get small and you can really see the color of them except for small parts on the outside. but with that we think he could be partially blind? he can see things it’s more 50/50, far away yes but up close it’s hard to tell. i’m just a little concerned and don’t know if we should be worried or not. thank you in advance
- also we named him Oscar 😁

My cat has an odd hard bump. It goes away with cleaning and becomes pink bowl like structure. Seems to hurt if touched. Should I be worried?

Cat keeps peeing in the tub

Post image
13 Upvotes

Like the title says, my cat keep peeing in the tub. Its a little funny, but like... why? She used to pee in her litter box just fine and now she seems to be exclusively peeing in the tub. I straight watched this cat climb in, perch herself over the drain, and just let go, and stare at me. I have to keep running the water to wash it away when shes done but if she does it while I'm at work it sits there until I get back. Why is she doing this??? How can I get her to use her litter box to pee again???

(Thankfully shes still pooping in the litter box but I live in fear for when she decides to start using the tub for that shit too - shes done it before at my mom's house)

She's my first cat after exclusively having dogs and she was a stray for the first 2 years of her life so shes still a little feral and the learning curve feels wild. Any advice for this???

What is this red spot on kitten nose?

My 4 month old kitten has a sort of rash below his nose it seems? We just noticed it today and don’t know where it’s from. He behaves normally and doesn’t seem to mind. Where could this be coming from, and does it happen more often? We’ve never had kittens before and don’t want to call the vet if it’s not necessary. Advice is appreciated :)

EDIT: We have two kittens, only one of them has this what looks like a rash. Their food bowls are ceramic and stainless steel. They have a water fountain which is plastic.

is my cat just chill af or does he have anxiety?

my cousin got a cat like four months ago, started living with my family, moved out two months later, and kinda just left the cat with us. she said hes an "anxiety cat" according to the shelter he came from. when i asked her if that means he's anxious or if he's for anxious people, she said that she didnt know. i dont know if i should be concerned because hes a very chill guy. i only see him on weekends but hes very comfortable with me. he lets me trim his nails, touch near his mouth and stomach, wipe his eyes, paws, etc. he doesnt hiss or attack, he'll just meow or squirm if he doesnt like something. all the cats ive seen in my life have way more boundaries and bite/scratch when their lifelong owners do these things, but he doesn't. he also sleeps next to me and wakes me up in the morning. i heard that cats only do this around people they really trust so im honesty so confused. is he just a chill guy or does it have something to do with possible anxiety (?) im wondering if he has an anxious attachment or something. i can only stay with him on weekends because i live at my uni and i dont want that to affect him negatively. this might be a stupid question from a first-time cat haver but i just wanna be sure that hes fine.

Cat vocalisation (question)

Are there any books or articles about pet sounds, especially cat vocalisations?
I’m interested in the scientific side of this how cats and other animals communicate through sounds, and whether there’s been any research into understanding what different sounds actually mean.
But I’m also curious about something broader. Maybe this isn’t a completely new idea? Perhaps people have been interested in understanding animal communication for centuries. I was thinking about old texts, myths, Kafka, Adam and Eve, or other historical sources maybe someone noticed or explored the idea of communicating with animals a very long time ago.
I’m basically wondering: has anyone already explored this idea from a scientific, historical, or philosophical perspective? Are there any books, papers, or interesting sources you’d recommend?

Is it bad form to ask to adopt a foster cat?

Hey, I've just started fostering cats and I'm literally on the first one. I have run into a major problem - he's adorable and I love him.

I would feel like an ass saying hey, charity I'm supposed to be volunteering for and which has given me food and resources to do so, I wanna keep the cat now. It's compounded by the fact that this is the first cat I'm fostering. I know adoption would likely benefit the cat too seeing as he is seemingly very settled, but I am wondering how such a request would be perceived.

Any insight from people who work with fosterers or foster cats themselves would be appreciated :)

Is my cat fat or overweight?

Thumbnail

Hi, this is my kitty Oreo she is about five years old and is a little chunky I will admit, but every time I send a picture to my friends or family or they see her in person they always comment on big she is what do you guys think Is she fat or or is it just them?
EDIT: I see youre concerns and I do agree she does need to be less chunky. For a little background up until about a year ago, we had a gravity feeder just for the cats but since we moved and got another cat in our household, we only feed them twice a day now and she does run around a decent amount and play with the other cat, but I will try to make sure she gets some more exercise in the future. I also at this moment cannot afford to take her to vet because I am a broke college student else I would.

My Cat is peeing everywhere

I took my cat to the vet last week, as I suspected she had cystitis. she was straining above the tray and peeing little drops everywhere. She is only 7 months old, and I have only had her for 2 months. she has been using the litter tray absolutely fine the whole time I've had her. The Vet gave me medicam to give her for 5 days following the appointment, which I did, and I thought it was getting better but I have noticed that she is now peeing in the bathtub, on dirty washing and on beds. she's not straining anymore, and they are definitely proper wees. Is this just a bad habit she's gotten into and she will stop eventually or do I need to take her back to the vets? She has only just started going outside, which is what the vet and I thought was the cause of stress for the cystitis, but she is now using the cat flap normally and she has also been acting completely normal throughout the whole ordeal. No excessive licking, no blood in her urine, no meowing when trying to use the litter tray. I just want to know if anyone has experienced similar with their cats. thanks in advance for any help. I am not a minor, and I am in the UK. I can afford the vet care, and I have a vets near me as well as an emergency one not too far either.

Was kann hinter diesem Geräusch stecken?
