The link just gives an error message that applications for 2026 are closed...

Is there are date that applications normally open up?

Or is there another way I can do it?

Can I apply for a another assessment extension after using a 5-day self-extension?

I recently received a 5-day self-extension for an assignment due to a medical condition. Unfortunately, I still haven’t fully recovered and won’t be able to complete the assignment within the extended deadline.

If I submit a medical certificate now and apply for a further extension, is it possible to get it approved even though I’ve already used the 5-day self-extension?

Also, if my request is approved, how many additional days could I be granted beyond the initial 5-day extension?

Has anyone been in a similar situation at Curtin? I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences.

Comp1000 Unix and C Programming Exam

Hey everyone,

I have a Unix and C Programming exam next week, and I was wondering if the exam follows a similar format to the mock exam. The midterm followed pretty much the same structure, with similar questions worded differently, so I was wondering if the final exam is likely to be the same.

I’m asking because I want to know if I should focus mainly on practising the types of questions in the mock exam so I can spend more time working on my other assignments.

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What happens if you drive too fast over the metal panels in the road at the "Dip" signs near the entrance?

Have driven past these warning signs which suggest that if you drive too fast the metal plate will dip down and somehow trap the wheels of your car.

I've always driven slowly for fear of something happening to damage my wheels so I guess they're effective from that point. I've never seen anyone drive too fast (however fast that might be?) over them so I'm very curious to know what happens? Has anyone driven over them fast (how fast?) and what happened? Do they really dip down? Does your car get damaged or stuck? etc

Anyone doing this unit?

Was there any discussion about whether the final topics on flywheels and belts would have calculations or any coverage in the exam?

Has the submission link expired for anyone else or is it just me? I'm aware it's a late submission but cesar's announcements gave me the impression that late submissions were allowed and penalties would be applied

Lease Takeover!

Hi, lovely Curtin community!!!

I hope everyone is faring well with the impending doom of study week 😵‍💫

I'm going back home from the 28th of November till the 15th of January and am looking for someone to take over my lease while I'm gone.

Some information:
Rent - $265 p/w (including wi-fi, utilities, all the fun stuff). No extra costs!
Furnishing - Single bed, desk, desk chair, night stand, dresser, two hanging spaces for clothes/ storage, and a bookshelf. There's a washing machine that you can use, and multiple clotheslines and drying racks. There are utensils in the flat's common area, and you'll share a fridge with another tenant.
Location - 4-minute walk to the closest bus stop and only 7 minutes to Curtin University, otherwise a 20/25 minute walk to Curtin. An absolutely prime location!
Flat itself - 5 other housemates, they seem to be related to Curtin in some way, shape, or form. They're pretty neat and tidy. The landlord comes in every two weeks for cleaning.

If you want more information or are interested, please DM me!

Of course, if this goes through, contracts will be drawn up and signed before the departure and arrival of new and departing tenants.

Thank you!!!

MINE2006

Did anyone else find the presentation for MINE2006 challenging?

The assignment required designing an AI-driven process to optimize the mining value chain, yet students faced criticism for lacking deep software technicalities despite being enrolled in a mining engineering program.

Based on the lecturers's feedback following our presentation, it appears likely that I will need to repeat the unit.

looking for someone to take over my lease

hi, i’m looking for someone to take over my lease from 16 November to 10 February, as i’ll be going back home and don’t want to pay rent while I’m away.
i’m currently staying in a 2-bed 1-bath apartment but there is currently no roommate, so you’ll have the room and the apartment to yourself!

$280/week — the actual rent is $3xx/week, but i’ll cover the difference!
all bills included in the rent
laundry (washer & dryer) is available for an extra charge
fully equipped kitchen with an induction cooker and microwave
private bathroom
gym located downstairs

you’ll need to be a student to be eligible to stay here
i can also send photos of the room if you’re interested!

thank you!!

Can someone find Nai Wa a spot on campus? 🐸

Meet Nai Wa, a frog version of Nai Long, now with a Curtin makeover 😂

Any Curtin students willing to print this out and put it somewhere on campus? The uni logo and Aussie tattoos are sorted. All Nai Wa needs now is a campus job 🫡

If anyone actually does it, please post a pic. I need to know which department ends up hiring Nai Wa hahaha 📸

Why am I only finding out now that the compulsory unit ( as a specialisation) requires travel.

Why is this not disclosed to students much earlier on 🤷‍♀️

Business Information System students are required to do two minor specialisations and additional costs for core units in these were not declared at the start.

ECU vs Curtin for Wildlife Conservation as an International Student

Hi! I'm a student from Sri Lanka hoping to build a career working with wildlife and nature. 🦁🌿 I want to do hands-on fieldwork, study animals in their natural habitats, and contribute to wildlife conservation rather than spend all my time in an office or lab.

I'm considering ECU and Curtin University, particularly Curtin's Environmental Biology degree. I'm also looking at the Diploma of Health Science at ECU Sri Lanka as a possible pathway because I'm unsure whether my A/L results will meet Curtin's entry requirements.

I'd love advice on a few things:

  • Which university offers better fieldwork and wildlife conservation opportunities?
  • Which degree offers better career prospects in Australia?
  • Would the ECU Sri Lanka diploma help me get into Curtin's Environmental Biology degree?
  • How difficult is it for international graduates to find relevant jobs in Australia?

I'd really appreciate honest advice from current students, graduates, or anyone working in wildlife conservation or environmental science!

My biggest goal is to work directly with wildlife and spend my career outdoors. 🐾

Possible extension or something for humb1001 exam

For context, I live with my parents and they recently returned from a week-long international trip to New Caledonia. During their trip, they contracted a bug and are now back home. My mum is still unwell with a fever, shakiness, extreme fatigue and nausea. She’s tested negative for flu A and B, COVID and other tests. We’re taking precautions like wearing masks, but I’m really worried I might catch her bug. I have my humb1001 exam on November 3rd and I don’t want to be sick leading up to or during it. I’m wondering if there’s any way I could request a postponement or something if I do get the bug.

(Sorry, I’m a first-year student still learning. I’ve also attended all humb1001 classes and read the handbook, which mentions deferred assessments.)

Curtin CourseSwitch Med Interviews

Hello,

This is directed to people who have successfully, or almost successfully courseswitched into Curtin MBBS (Medicine). I was curious if course switchers receive interview offers in the first round only, second round only or can recieve in either round? Like is there a set thing? The Handbook says first round interviews are based of predicted ATARs but we obviously dont have that? When did you guys have your interview?

Thank you!!

econ2001 macroeconomic principles

Hey guys! I’m a fully online student for this unit, and I’m aware that the final exam is face-to-face and i’m lowkey terrified because I’m so used to doing everything online, and the thought of sitting an in-person exam for a unit like this is nerve wrecking

For anyone who has already completed this unit or sat the final exam, how did you find it? Was it difficult, and what was the exam actually like?

I’d also really appreciate any advice on study methods that genuinely helped you pass the unit, which topics or concepts I should prioritise, and anything you wish you’d known before the exam, basically looking for some guidance on how to prepare properly and what I should focus on most. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!! :)

BP/LOOKSMAXXING CLUB?

Hi all!
I'm looking to start a Curtin club revolving about the art of looksmaxxing and the unfortunately brutal blackpill. The purpose of this club would be a duel purpose, both self-improvement and discussing modern brutal mogs from the interwebs.

The Goals/Purpose of the club:

  1. Help members become true Curtin moggers like Clavicular and Marlon.
  2. Create a space to openly discuss the ways of becoming a sigma like Patrick Bateman and Andrew Tate
  3. Be a social hub for students who feel left behind in dating so they can become the true sigma mogger of Curtin
  4. Share practical looksmaxxing advice to the collective to mogg the other clubs around campus

If you would like to join me in the creation of the BP/Lookxmaxxing club which i will name the "MOGGVILLE OF CURTIN" respond below to reach your true mogger sigma desires.
