Discussion Playing catch with myself?
As I was playing a solo round yesterday, I walked towards my line disc in a field and had the realization that disc golf is basically playing catch with yourself.

The shiny new discs you got last week didn't make your golf game any better, huh?
Welcome to the Form Check Weekly Thread, a weekly thread that will be stickied every Monday morning for a few days. All form check requests will be referred to here.
There have been some fantastic Form Check guides but this one by MVP_Steve is far and away the best - https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/760ckm/form_check_psa_how_to_leave_a_form_check_request/

You text the owner. He's moved many states away and tells you to take it to someone else who still lives in town.
What are you thinking at this point?

Wow…. Second time this has happened in the last week. Should I buy a lottery ticket?

I love playing a few rounds any time I get an opportunity to travel and have some discs with me, and it's often just as enjoyable to find a fun, well-designed course that surpasses expectations as it is to go play somewhere big and famous.
What do you think is the most underrated course in your area? What makes it fun and why do you think its underrated?
Anyhow, I'd like to add all of the top answers to a Udisc list of "underrated courses not to miss" if I'm traveling somewhere.

I recently got a TechDisc and will take the winter focusing on improving a couple of metrics which will hopefully translate to more distance in the spring.
My question for folks who have had success using a TechDisc as a training aid, was there a specific order of metrics you found to be conducive to improvements or was it an all at once approach.
Right now the order of my focus will be:
1) Nose Angle - Currently average around 2.5°, will work to get it consistently < 0.
2) Launch - Average 4°, will then work to get this 8° to 10° once my nose angle is fixed.
3) Hyzer - Currently 14°, I dont really throw alot of super floppy stuff so i think I'd like to then get this down around 5 to flat.
4) Speed - Once I feel I've cleaned up the above and am consistently hitting those targets, I'd like to increase my speed from the current 54mph to 60-61 mph.
For those wondering, my spin rate is typically 1100 to 1200, I think I'm OK with this but will certainly hear my spin kings and queens out.
My ultimate goal is to have 400 field distance so I can power down to a reliable 350 on the course.
All that said does this make sense? Or should I chase speed first then clean up my form later? Or do I do all at once?
I live in Minnesota so will be throwing into a net indoors for about 4 to 5 months.

I refinish wheels for a living, and a primary function of my job is powder coating. I’ve done several personal projects, but have yet to do my own basket. My buddy gave me one of his that’s been outside in his yard for longer than I’ve known him. I wish I had before photos, but who cares, just know that it didn’t compare to what it is now. Hyper Slime is the color, chains are just satin black. This thing looks amazing, and it is so bright it almost glows in low light. Photos hardly do it justice. Anyway, just wanted to show it off.

Today was a good day - it’s the first round I’ve ever shot even. This course is incredibly easy BUT I had some amazing drives and I was sinking 20ish foot putts a lot more consistently and taking advantage of longer birdie opportunities. This video was my first birdie of the round which really helped my mental game.
The last hole I was +1 and knew I had a chance at birdie, 298 foot straight shot with just a few trees at center. Threw about 30 feet or so short but I draaaaaained it to go even.
I love disc golf.

So I started doing tournaments for the first time and I jumped right into MA3. I thought I had one of my best rounds ever, I shot -4 on a short layout. (My rating: 843)
But then other guys in MA3 were shooting -8, -9.
And I looked at other guys in my division and their ratings. The guys that were shooting like that were:
Rating: 899
Rating: 898
Rating: 890
But then there are guys in MA2 that have a lower rating than that. (ex. 878, 889)
So are these guys that are competing in MA3 staying in a low division so they can come in first and they're not competing against people at their level......or am I just being a petty sore loser? lol.
EDIT:
I truly appreciate all of the feedback. It helps someone like me who is constantly in their head have a conversation with myself. What I'm getting from everyone is a few critical things
WORRY ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR OWN IMPROVEMENT
and
HAVE FUN!
Thanks crew!

Hey everyone!
We’re Grassland Discs, a small Canadian disc golf manufacturer making 3D-printed discs, and we’re really excited to share our latest collaboration!
We teamed up with artist Gabrielle Rose From the Dead to bring some of her incredible artwork to our discs, just in time for Halloween. We couldn’t be happier with how these turned out!
The From the Dead Series launches today! We’re starting with a very limited run of just 10 of each design. We’re literally getting these off the printers now, so more will follow as production catches up.
We’ve also made some glow versions! We’ll be sharing photos of those soon, so keep an eye on our Instagram.
One of the things we’re most excited about is that every sale supports Gabrielle and her artwork. She also sells prints of these designs directly through her website if you’d rather have them on your wall!
We’d love to hear what the disc golf community thinks of these. Which design is your favourite?

Thanks for checking these out and supporting independent artists and small disc golf manufacturers!

Anybody have pictures of their Tech Disc set ups? I just moved in to a new house and I am looking at setting up a net in my garage. Possibly a screen to run the simulator I've seen people using.

Did any of these prototypes ever make it into anybody’s bags? I’m still not ready to give up on Clash and curious about how these discs feel/fly.

I'll be in Vegas next week. I'll have some time Monday to play and here's my list of courses. Let me know your thoughts on where I should play
Wild horse (if I can get a tee time)
Sunset Park
Peccole Ranch - not crazy about the proximity to all the houses
Mountain Crest -furthest away from where I'm staying

I am watching coverage of the 2026 UDG Aces Epic Stadiums at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, which features this guy, Sylwester Przybyla, who is wearing a glove on his throwing hand.
I have never seen that before. The commentators mention he has an ultimate background, so I assume it is the same type of glove I've seen being used in ultimate frisbee.
Has anyone ever played with the glove before? To me it seems like it would be bothersome and doesn't offer any type of advantage over not wearing a glove. But perhaps there is something I don't know?

Help, I'm new to this and surrounded by courses but I just don't know what's a good brand of discs to get versus the temu option. Help me make a good purchase!

My 3yo has started doing putting practice with me in our backyard. Exciting development! He's been forehanding full sized discs, which is impressive, and I also have some minis he uses. Is there something in between you'd recommend like a youth specific putter? I saw some recommendations for Dino Discs, but their website doesn't seem to be working so I wonder if they are no longer in business. Thanks!

Just curious on how your midrange lineup is looking?
As for myself I'm currently baging the following:
Overstable - Pyro
Straight/Stable - Prism Proton Hex (hope this one will beat in a little to be more on the straight side)
Straight - Echo
Understable - Mana
As for myself I'm hoping that the echo eventually will be seasoned enough to cykle in to the understable slot instead of the mana as that one is getting rather understable.

Is anyone experiencing the same disappointment with the project lab coat Trail by MVP?
I lost a first run Trail that was an absolute bomber and the last two PLCs I got are overstable meat hooks.

When driving from the tee box, I’ve noticed most players, both amateurs and pros, will start with their head up looking toward the basket. But during their wind up, they will look down toward the disc, then back up (kinda) toward the basket ad they are releasing.
This has always seems counter-intuitive to me. To me, it seems like you should keep your eyes on the basket during the wind up. Kind of like locking in on the hoop if you’re shooting a basketball.
Im curious if someone can explain why driving form is taught this way. Is it a power over accuracy thing?
