Calling all artists!
It's soon October, which means it's time for a brand new season of Inktober!
As always, whether you plan to draw every day or whenever you feel like it, whether you follow a set word list or use your own, and whether you're a beginner, experienced, or somewhere in the middle, you are more than welcome to grace us with your creations!
We will proceed like we did with Smaugust, you will see a brand new Inktober flair within the subreddit that you can use here, and you will also be able to share your work in the related Inktober 2026 submissions thread in our Discord server (https://discord.gg/fNSAbzvYKp) which we will unlock by then!
We have shared our very own r/dragons prompt list for Inktober 2026, which we suggest to follow, but any work following any other list is more than welcome! The board (and list) have been graciously done by u/DragonHoarder13 (or Thorven from our Discord server!).
Happy Inktober!

Calling all Dragons, Wyverns, Wyrms, Dergs, and everything in between!
The time has come at last! After much hard work and consideration, the r/dragons Official Discord Server is live and ready for you to join! https://discord.gg/fNSAbzvYKp
Come join for good conversation and fun!
A few differences you might notice as you get the lay of the land:
There are market forum channels specifically for those who wish to offer commissions or products. Please keep the rules for these in mind while using them. Advertising outside of the market forum channels is not allowed.
There are also several different voice chat channels for different things. Please be sure you are using the appropriate one while streaming. i.e Gaming should be done in a gaming specific VC and general hanging out should be done in the general VC.

Art by Mollin (VGen)(Furaffinity)
(First I want to shout out Mollin who helped me bring this to life, and this is the first time I have ever been able to see Marux outside of my mental picture. I would highly recommend anyone who is looking for a wonderful artist to consider them)
I realized today that I've not really uploaded any of more recent things things to reddit, so I'll start here and add a small bit of my lore that goes with it.
--------------------------
Marux is a solitary forest dragon who made his life in the deep redwood wilds, far from roads, crowds, and the noise of the outer world. At the heart of that forest stands the Living Hollow, an ancient tree large enough to hold a home within it, and that is where he stays. From there, he keeps to a quiet rhythm: patrolling old paths, checking the marker glyphs carved into the trees, watching the weather roll through the canopy, and making sure the territory around him remains in balance. He does not think of the forest as something to conquer or possess. To him, it is something to tend, protect, and understand.
The land itself feels as old as memory. Fog clings low between the trunks, rain feeds the moss and roots, and everything is softened by green things growing over age and stone. Hidden caves, narrow streams, old trails, and clusters of marked trees make up the shape of his world. It is a place that feels peaceful, but never tame. Quiet, but always alive. Marux knows it intimately, not as a map, but as a living system, and he moves through it like something that belongs there.
More than anything, Marux believes in balance. He sees life as a constant movement between gain and loss, calm and danger, growth and decay. He does not believe balance means perfect peace, or that pain can simply be avoided. He believes it means accepting what is true, adapting when needed, and meeting the world honestly. That philosophy shapes nearly everything about him. He values gentleness over cruelty, restraint over needless force, and accountability over empty words. He is protective, but not domineering, and while he can be dangerous, he does not seek harm for its own sake.
At his core, Marux is someone shaped by care, duty, and survival. He is guarded, watchful, and often more comfortable with distance than closeness, but there is a deep compassion in him all the same. He believes trust should mean something. He believes words should carry weight. He believes healing begins with truth, even when truth is difficult. In many ways, the forest around him mirrors who he is: quiet, hidden, enduring, and alive with more depth than it first reveals. He is not its ruler so much as its keeper, a steady presence woven into the land, trying in his own way to preserve its balance while finding some of his own.

For spoopy month, I decided to do WoF-fy Elspeth von Draken, the Graveyard Rose, from Warhammer Fantasy and Total War: Warhammer III as an IceWing.
I've been playing her campaign, and she's a really good Legendary Lord. She's also one of the few examples of the 'Dark ≠ Evil' trope, which I love!
I'm seeing Prince and Emperor, Karl Franz as a SkyWing.

I have been going through a bit of burnout in regards to art, so I decided to work on a piece for myself featuring my sona, Stygian. I'm actually delightfully surprised with how well this turned out. I really loved working on this piece, and I experimented a lot with my colors and textures.
This piece is intended to represent loneliness, grief, and love, which I tried to capture through the overall mood and atmosphere.
Hope you enjoy the art! ❤️

Art by Ashes Drawn.
Beautiful eyewatering art depicting my cat Kiara being looked after by me.
She passed in march 2021.
She sadly passed in front of me as i was going to sleep by jumping off my bed, missing her target, slipped and fell bad.
I miss her dearly. She got me through some tough times.
She always was besides me. Sat with me during the day, slept with me at night.
She was an absolute sweetheart.
There are some pictures of her within this post.
Both myself and Marux saw this and felt a strong connection to our shared experience, and wanted to memorialize our loved kitties together <3

A memorial to my former cat Roamin. He was my loyal companion from 2008 until 2024 when he developed cancer.
He provided me with many years of comfort, companionship, and a reason to keep living when my life was at its hardest points.
I miss him dearly to this day, he was my first cat and taught me many things in life.
Both myself and Borrod saw this and felt a strong connection to our shared experience, and wanted to memorialize our loved kitties together.
I will see you on the other side of the rainbow bridge my friend 🧡

Easily my best work so far, and the one I spent the most time with. Around 20-25 hours.
I have learnt so much about Noelle during this, she is such a unique dragon!
I am still a beginner in art, and have only started posting a lot of it recently, but the one inspiring me to post them was you Ryu and your very heartwarming story I read in one of your posts when you joined r/dragons. Is this good art? No. Could it be 100x better? Most definetly. But if it made you cheer up at least a little bit then it was more than worth it.
(The dragon in this small 4 page comic is Noelle, u/RyukiriDragon 's OC)
[And the ugly human in the bottom-right is *supposed to be* me]

My portion from the Ryu uplift collage. So many art pieces were incredible, and the artistic talent of the community is so amazing.
Though times are rough, and the darkness surrounds us. We feel there is no way out, no hope. But there will always be a guiding light, a hand reaching out to help you. Wanting to pull you out, wanting to give you a shoulder to lean on. Wanting to put a smile on you face. We are never alone.
The rare occasion where I can say art done by me. Noelle owned by u/RyukiriDragon

Im going to be transparent, I tried twice to make something presentable and it was just not. Some days are just misses. So I dug this up, it's a couple weeks old. I have a lot this week so I might take a break, though I have every intention on coming back as soon as things clear up a bit. Improving is my ultimate goal, and I want to see how far I can get.
Art by me.

Throughout your lives, of all the species you've encountered, which one has been your favorite? What is it about them that intrigues you so much about their day to day life? Are the reasons for your choosing because they've benefited you greatly in one way or another? What is it about them that makes them "special" to you?

Hello everyone. This is my first post.
I wanted to ask what do you think of the wings of Gold Dragons and Brass Dragons from DnD (3edition, Todd Lockwood design).
I am currently designing my Dragon OC, a dragon with control over currents of water and air, and wanted to use wings similar to those of those dragons (my OC is a western dragon with morphology based around otters, minks and mantarays, so I think the gold/brass dragon wing works best)

Xarshin likes Cynder’s style—unfortunately, the fit is already taken. And her brother, Kilinor, won’t let her forget it
Fun fact: When I wrote Stormshard, Xarshin was heavily inspired by Cynder’s story and design. Hopefully that wasn’t too obvious—but she is a homage to that very neglected and underused character

Hello! As you can see in the title and image, I'm looking for art trades! If you're unfamiliar with the term, its basically where we draw each other's OCs! (Yes, I'm this desperate to get art of my OCs, don't judge me!! ;-;)
If you're interested, please comment down below with examples of your past artworks. If you don't have any examples, I can't trade with you (because I don't want to get scammed.) I will also request at least one progress photo as well. If we trade, your artwork of my OC will be shared in social media, so please be fine with that before we do! If you'd like more examples of my art, you can just look at posts I've posted in my reddit profile. If I think what you've posted is sufficient, I'll send you a pm to work out the details!
If you have questions, ff to ask in comments as well.

Sorry I haven't been posting as much recently, I was planning on doing all of inktober but then I had a death in my family and that took a lot of energy but for now taking a break from inktober (probably gonna do a final and a movies one) and looking towards December where I'm intending on releasing the first animated entry for him (fingers crossed) but I'm trying to finalize him and I want to hear from y'all which you think is better.
I've narrowed it down to a few options but
Body type 1 and body type 2 which is better ? (I love both but ngl 1 is kinda seeming cool for what I'm going for)
Should he have that spot under his chin like in fig 1? Or none like fig 2? I used to use 2 but for a while I've been using 1.
Sorry for the ramble but I just want to start something special here with vox and community feedback would be amazing
