Herstory Who Is Your Feminist Inspiration?

Post image

•She is considered a “Evil Woman” because first and foremost, males consider her unattractive. Most males “Morals” are guided by their d!cks.
•She genuinely cares about the planet and human beings (Correction: All Living Beings). Males only care about where they lay their heads and who they want in their beds.
• She uses her voice and her body freely for causes she believes in.
• She serves as an example of how to live your life completely outside the service of this patriarchal world and its “values”.
• In honor of her, I’m taking up learning Swedish 🤗
Edit: Can Anyone Recommend some truly feminist Authors and Books. I have heard good things about some Russian Authors. Fiction or Non-Fiction. Please no Jane Austen. Thank You!

She was the first woman admitted to Harvard Medical School in 1936.

Harvard only granted women access to its medical courses in 1945, whereas men had been able to attend since 1782.

A gap of fully 163 years.

Herstory Hedy Lamarr: The Mother of WIFI

Thumbnail

Hedy Lamarr an Austrian American actress and inventor during WW2 who helped developed a wireless communication technology that paved the groundwork of what is now the WIFI and GPS.

Frequency Hopping or Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) allowed a transmitter and receiver to rapidly switch between different radio frequencies in a synchronized pattern, making it more difficult for an enemy to disrupt the signal. Although the technology was not widely used by the military during the war, the concept later contributed to the development of modern wireless communication technologies. its intended purpose was for enemy to make it difficult to interfer and or jam radio controlled torpedos

Hedy along with composer George Antheil filed a patent to the US Navy under "Secret Communications System" but the Navy decided against the idea so the idea never got put into used and the Navy classified the idea never implemented it until the Cuban Missle Crisis. Hedy never got recongized until her later years when she got awarded The Electronic Frontier Foundation in 1997 and became the first woman to recieved the Convention’s Bulbie Gnass Spirit of Achievement Award. After her death in 2000 she was inducted into the National inventors Hall of Fame and was dubbed "the mother of wifi."

her idea help created the modern communications of what we now know as Wifi, Bluetooth, and the GPS

I hope you guys liked it I was thinking about doing something for US spy "The Limping Lady" Virgina Hall next :}

Herstory Hypatia of Alexandria was a mathematician, philosopher and astronomer. She once threw her bloody menstrual rags at a student after he tried to romantically persue her even though she repeatedly rejected him.

Hypatia said "This is what you really love, my young man. But you don't love beauty for it's own sake."

After this he left horrified and never persued Hypatia again.

If I have a daughter one day... well, Hypatia is on the list of names.

I hope to be half the woman she was ❤️

((I hope I chose the right flair!!!!))

The very first woman to ever serve in the position of “Physician to the President” was Dr. Janet Travell in 1961 to President John F. Kennedy. She graduated from Cornell medical school in 1926 which is impressive in and of itself. She pioneered techniques that are still used today to relieve pain specifically myofascial pain.

One of the more surprising things she prescribe to JFK was a rocking chair. Apparently it’s great for back pain.

And that my friends is why I have come to you.

As a person with back pain I wanted to figure out how it’s beneficial so naturally I turned to my friend google. The very first link I clicked was an article updated August 2026. This was its second sentence::

“”Notably, Doctor George Burkley, who treated President John F. Kennedy for chronic back pain from war injuries, prescribed a rocking chair to alleviate discomfort””

Huh. Well. That’s interesting because everything else says it was Dr. Janet Travell who prescribed the rocking chair and matching rocking ottoman and this was her area of expertise…so….like….. who the fuck is this dude??

So I googled, as one does….

….ladies…..

“”He was named assistant White House physician to Janet G. Travell in 1961 then eventually succeed Travell to become Physician to the President in July 1963”” (November 1963 is when JKF was assassinated).

I can-fucking-not with the man who wrote this fucking article

First woman Physician to the President. One of the first couple hundred women to even graduate medical school. So pioneering and so accurate with her science and knowledge that more than 60 years later we are still using her techniques and discoveries. Ever have a trigger point injection? Thank Dr. Janet Travell. Received dry needling?? Dr. Janet Travell. Have to drive a lot, are a farmer?? She was passionate about proper seating and was a consultant to such companies as John Deere and Lockheed to produce more comfortable and supportive seats for tractors and airplanes. Thank Dr Janet Travell. Needed physical therapy? “”Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction: The Trigger Point Manual”” is the foundational text in the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain. Ever receive vapocoolant numbing as part of physical therapy or for trigger point injections?? Thank DR. JANET. TRAVELL.

And yet, some mfing how, one of the top links to explain how a rocking chair is beneficial for back pain it is her assistant that is credited for her pioneering work and ‘unusual’ treatment in prescribing President John F. Kennedy with a rocking chair. Mr. George Burkley gets a whole Wikipedia section for “Physician to the President” while Dr. Janet Travell’s posting as Physician to the President is buried in the “career” tab and worthy of 2 paragraphs apparently. I guess because he was the attending physician at the time of the assassination, while also being present in the motorcade, and serving in different positions across multiple administrations he’s clearly the one who matters more and provided far more service to his famous patient. Apparently the fact that Dr. Janet Travell was the primary physician for all but 4 months of JFK’s presidency. Was the one directly responsible for many of his pain relief treatments just wasn’t quite as impressive and important as the man who did the job for 4 whole entire months. She didn’t sign the death certificate so it’s cool to rewrite history and pretend Mr. Burkley was the Physician to the President the entire time and credit him with all of Dr. Janet Travell’s work. Really, who would notice or even care anyways, amirite!

Are. You. Fucking. Kidding. Me?????

I am so sick. and. fucking. tired. of men erasing women from history. It feels like every other day we re-discover a woman whose spot in history was stolen and a man who became a legend with his theft. Like seriously y’all, why did anyone ever think a man invented the concept of a calendar?? What the fuck would neolithic men need to track?????????????????

You would think by now, in the age of documenting everything they’d feel some shame or at least fear of being discovered as the thieves they are. But NOPE!!! The thieves are still going strong!! Every time a man argues “”if all men disappeared the world would cease to exist because look at all these jobs women cannot do.”” Is ignoring every woman who FAUGHT to do those exact jobs. They are actively saying Fuck Marie Curie who last I checked laid the foundational groundwork that made nuclear power possible. Fuck Rosalind Franklin who was instrumental in discovering DNA. Fuck Hedy Lamar who literally invented the technology that became the cornerstone of: WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and some military communications systems. Fuck Florence Lawrence, Margaret A. Wilcox, Dorothy Levitt, Charlotte Brigwood, Mary Anderson, Dr. Gladys West, Stephanie Kwolek and Margaret Wu who developed and invented a variety of the items and conveniences that allow men to have, enjoy and care for one of their most precious, most protected, most “you wouldn’t understand cuz you’re not a guy” male dominated interests/posessions: Cars. That absolutely ridiculous dumbass assertion actively and purposefully erases every. single. woman. engineer, doctor, physicist, service member, chemist, nuclear scientist etc etc. Nobody invited those women in, they are not welcomed with open arms. They were actively barred from education. They, we, fought like hell just for the chance to prove we are capable, and it still was IS not good enough. To this day we have to be 4 times as good just to get in the door, twice as capable while doing twice as much to prove we should be allowed to stay, but most importantly:: we can never, ever make a mistake or be a problem in any capacity for any reason ever. I don’t even know what we have to do to receive the acknowledgment and recognition we actually deserve, in our lifetime, that’s still a goddamn mystery.

The men have taken enough.

Stop. Fucking. Stealing. From. Women.

Herstory I have a set of pictures of women icons in my life, just wanted to share a couple

I don’t know if this is the right sub for this, but I have 30 or so pictures of women who inspire me and I like to pick a picture on the days where I feel low and suffocated to remind myself that these “evil” women existed and will continue to emerge and thrive in every known sphere of life regardless of the obstacles society pushes, so I just wanted to share their stories with yall too!

1) Phoolan Devi: I think her story is one that has inspired me since I was a child, that women can and will get angry when pushed into a corner, that women are human too and not some divine docile “victims”.
She was known as the Bandit Queen and she’s known for massacring the gang of men who 🍇ed her. She came from a socially and economically backward class of society, but she became an icon, all charges against her for the massacre were dropped and she later even became a member of parliament.

2) Giulia Tofana: the first time I heard of her, I remember feeling so upset by the fact that she’s such an interesting and important figure in history but very little is known about her, and how there’s so many women who probably have been erased simply because they did not fit the patriarchal idea of a “good woman”. For context she was associated with the poison Aqua Tofana and she ran a poison ring to help women get rid of their abusive husbands.

3) Judith Polgar: I picked up chess last year and Judith Polgar is one of the people who never fails to amaze me with her track record. She became the fourth ever Grandmaster not to mention the youngest ever, breaking Bobby Fischer’s record. I especially appreciate her father did not believe that his daughters have to participate in female only events, and that geniuses are made not born. Judith Polgar and her family broke the stereotype that women cannot be grandmasters and that women are equally if not more capable than men.

I don’t have anyone else to share this with since most people around me are misogynistic and don’t really think that it’s important to know about these women. But I love to talk about these beautiful people and I just wanted to share it with someone.

My favorite part was when she broke a champagne glass and held it against the pimp's neck and told him that in the same way that she knew his body well enough to make him feel incredible pleasure, she could also make his every nerve ending scream in pain. That was some real queen shit.
