Discussion LinkedIn Got Hacked. Their Solution? Cancel My Premium. 💀

I genuinely don’t know whether to laugh, cry or scream at this point.

My LinkedIn account was hacked LAST YEAR, and dealing with LinkedIn support ever since has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had.

For context, LinkedIn is extremely important to my livelihood. Most of my clients for my own freelance work comes through this platform. I have over 7,000 connections, yet since the hacking incident, my posts barely get 50 views. I’ve repeatedly asked whether something is wrong with my account but nobody seems interested in investigating.

And here’s the best part: THE HACKER’S EMAIL ADDRESS IS STILL VISIBLE IN MY LINKEDIN ADMIN CENTER. A YEAR LATER.

I’ve complained about this multiple times.
On October 22, after I once again submitted a detailed complaint explaining everything, LinkedIn support responded by asking me to verify my identity using government-issued identification.

The problem? I HAD ALREADY VERIFIED MY IDENTITY BEFORE.

So I asked some pretty straightforward questions. Why wasn’t my previous verification sufficient? Was my account flagged for additional security concerns? Why did I need to submit sensitive identification documents again?

You’d think these would be reasonable questions after having your account compromised.

Apparently not.

Instead of answering even ONE of them LinkedIn simply told me to verify my identity again. I wasn’t refusing! I just wanted someone to explain WHY! Eventually I gave up asking and completed the verification.

On October 24, LinkedIn informed me that my identity was verified and the restriction on my account had been removed.

Great, right?

WRONG.

The hacker’s email address was STILL showing in my LinkedIn Admin Center, right next to my name under purchases.

So, completely exhausted at this point, I replied explaining that THE ISSUE WAS STILL NOT RESOLVED and attached yet another screenshot showing exactly what I meant.

I literally wrote, “Please find the attached image.”
I couldn’t have made it clearer if I tried.

And then came October 25.
Instead of investigating the screenshot, explaining why the hacker’s email was still there, or acknowledging ANYTHING I had just said, LinkedIn support replied to inform me that…

MY PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION HAD BEEN SUCCESSFULLY CANCELLED.

I BEG YOUR FINEST PARDON?!

WHEN DID I ASK YOU TO CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION?!
I was asking you to fix my hacked account! I sent you evidence that something was still wrong! I asked you to investigate!

AND YOUR SOLUTION WAS TO CANCEL THE SUBSCRIPTION I PAY FOR?!

To make it even more ridiculous I purchased Premium through Apple. I never asked anyone to cancel it.

I genuinely cannot understand how someone could read a message about an unresolved security issue, complete with photographic evidence and somehow decide that cancelling my subscription was the appropriate next step.

Meanwhile, my account’s visibility is still practically nonexistent, my concerns about possible remaining restrictions have gone unanswered and the hacker’s email address is still sitting there.

And honestly, the most exhausting part is having to repeat myself constantly. I work approximately 90 hours a week across two jobs. I cannot spend every spare minute chasing support representatives, only to have tickets closed before I get a chance to respond and then be forced to explain everything all over again.

I have sent screenshots, explained the situation, followed instructions, verified my identity and asked the same questions over and over.

HOW MANY TIMES DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO EXPLAIN THE SAME THING BEFORE A COMPANY ACTUALLY READS WHAT THEY’RE SAYING?!

I am literally not asking for special treatment. I am asking for someone to investigate an account that was compromised and explain why the problems haven’t been resolved.

And instead, I’m now dealing with an unexpectedly cancelled paid subscription on top of everything else.
I genuinely feel like I’m losing my mind dealing with this.

Also I am sorry if I sound like a complete Karen here. 😂 I am really not trying to be one. I’m just exhausted. LinkedIn isn’t just some random social media account to me. My clients, business opportunities and professional livelihood depend heavily on this platform, which is why this whole situation has been so stressful.

I don’t expect miracles. I just want someone to actually read what I’m saying.

Has anyone dealt with something like this? What on earth am I supposed to do at this point?

My Lyft driver apparently reported that I damaged his car on my way from Atlanta Airport at 8AM on a Sunday. That cost me $75, on a $75 ride.

Lyft policy apparently says that if the driver reports any damage within a certain timeframe, the only way to contest it will be with your own photos showing prior damage or no damage.

For the life of me, I can't see "damage" that I've not seen in every Lyft or Uber I've ever taken.

Never taking a lyfrt again.
