Discussion Reddit thought my last character design wasn't worth $70… but someone paid $120 for it. What about this one? 🍓🪼 (ArtbySoromuu)
A little while ago, I shared one of my character designs here, asking for honest opinions about its value.
Things got pretty interesting! The post reached over 30,000 views, and opinions were VERY divided. Some people loved it, while others called it generic or said it wasn't worth more than $70.
(Thank you to everyone who left lovely comments and followed me on Instagram!)
Plot twist: Someone eventually paid $120 for that character! ❤️
Now I'd love to hear your thoughts on my newest creation!
Meet my Strawberry Jellyfish Axolotl! 🍓🪼
She's part of my latest character collection, although she's the only one that moves away from my usual Mexican Day of the Dead inspiration.
I genuinely love her design! I've also been working on a special, fully rendered illustration sheet featuring a full body, bust-up, and chibi version of her.
But I'm having trouble deciding how to value my work.
I'm considering $50–60 for the character design itself, or around $100–120 with the additional illustrated content included.
I haven't received much interest so far, so I'm wondering whether it's the pricing, the design, or simply that I haven't reached the right audience yet.
What would you personally consider a fair price for this character?
I'd really appreciate constructive criticism! I'm still learning how people perceive the value of original character designs, and hearing different perspectives genuinely helps. 💗
