How did this happen?

Just to start off, I will not be frogging it lol.
I know I should or should have but this isn’t a very serious project for me. I took a roughly 10 year break from knitting and just wanted to get myself warmed up and refresh my skills.

I’m just not sure how this hole happened? Just plain stockinette and as I came around for my next row suddenly this hole had appeared, did I yarn over by accident and create a button hole or something??

Any pointers would be appreciated! Just want to make sure I don’t make this mistake again in the future :)

Frog the sleeves?

This is the upstream sweater by Rows in size S. It’s a lot more oversized than I had expected (no I did not do a gauge swatch :D, bc lazy). The sleeve look quite wide as I got confused and messed up the pattern. Does it look noticeable weird and wide? I’ve been staring at it for too long, and thinking to frog the sleeve and taper further up.

Stocking pattern help

I could use some help with the heel part of this pattern. I think it’s German short row?

So I had to write out the pattern for by row by row because that’s how my brain works. Specifically, I’ve been writing it as shown below. The triangle mark is where my stitch marker is. And the “L#” is how many stitches on that side are left unworked. So my first row is:

Purl14, marker, Purl13, wrap and turn leaving 1 unworked

I know this is insane. I’m sorry.

My problem is I cannot figure out at what point I “turn around” and start increasing the number of stitches I’m working with. In the pattern they say “Continue to work each row 1 st shorter until 10 sts remain” and start with a K11.

Can someone write out the entire heel pattern for me row by row? And tell me at what point I start increasing stitches again? Please? Haha.

Signed,
My poor brain only works one way and this pattern may actually just be rubbish

Felted hat pattern and yarn recs?

My holiday gift knitting season is finally commencing and I’d like to know if anyone has any felted hat recommendations that come in kid’s sizes. When I search Ravelry I see a lot of beret and gnome/wizard hats, but not too many beanies. Is there a reason for this? I much prefer the look of a beanie (I could also settle for a cloche) and I’m planning on making a few hats and customizing them for a few different kids with animal designs in stranded colorwork.

The reason I’m looking into felted hats is because one of the families I’m knitting for likes to avoid plastics as much as possible, but I also want to be mindful of easy care instructions for busy parents. So in my mind, a felted wool hat avoids the risk of shrinking in the laundry and would probably be sturdier too! Idk, please correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m also open to any tips and tricks with colorwork and yarn recommendations (including weight) if this is the type of feat thanks achievable but I should proceed with caution!

Loupy studio striped cardigan neckline advice

Hi everyone, this is my very first time posting so I'll try my best :)

I want to make the loupy studio striped cardi and have already made swatches, started it a few times and i love the pattern and video! I am just starting my knitting journey (made the sophie hood and have practiced a bunch) but I have already been trying to tweak patterns to suit my preferences a little bit more, just like I was used to with my crochet projects before.

Soooo for the loupy cardigan, I really want to avoid having to go and pick up neckline stitches later in my project. Especially because the button band is so cleverly built into the cardigan, it really bugs me that the neck is worked separately and that i can't start with the neckline.

So my question is:

Has anyone made a (loupy) cardigan starting with the neckline? How did you do it?

I am also interested in other possibilities for a cardigan neckline, preferably knit top-down so I can just switch needles and start knitting the yoke of the cardi.

I would be super grateful for ideas / advice / resources on options for cardigan neckline to match the cardigan :) if you have pictures, I'd love to see!

Thanks!!

Is this too striped- I’ve already put a lot of work into it as I only have one more chart repeat. This yarn can stripe as it’s just made this way but also just the # of stitches around can affect. I’m undecided - this was yarn from my stash too so I didn’t buy it. Maybe I’m being over critical!

Best place to buy an Ashford rigid heddle loom in the US?

Decided on an Ashford rigid heddle loom after trying a friend's. Multiple shops carry Ashford but accessory availability varies a lot between them i want the loom plus a stand and at least one extra reed, ideally from one place so everything's compatible
Where did u buy yours?

NYC Knitting Experts

I have this knit dress that is honestly too long and because of that it has gotten snagged at the bottom. I was thinking about taking it to a tailor to get it hemmed but after doing some research I found out that it’s better to have a knitting expert fix it. Does anyone have any recs?

Felted colourwork on slipper bottom

Post image
0 Upvotes

I want to do a fun custom pattern on the bottom of these slippers, sort of like an oil slick. But I’m concerned about felting colourwork and the strands being messy inside where the foot is. Does anyone have any suggestions for how to do this and still make a comfy slipper or if I should just avoid it entirely and do a single colour bottom?

Pattern is sailor slippers by Annie sews.

Bobble in cable sweater instructions

I'm having trouble with this: "Knit into front and back of st 4 times (4 sts total), slip 4 sts to left needle, k4, slip 4 sts to left needle, k4, (pass 2nd st over 1st) 3 times (1 st remains)"

Is it the just the "pass 2nd st over 1st" that is repeated 3 times? or do I do the whole "k4, slip 4 sts to left needle, pass 2nd stitch over" 3 times?

Thanks for your help. I'll be asking more questions - the pattern is translated from Finnish and I'm not that good at either cabling, or Finnish

Reading through this pattern before I start. I’m confused by the circled area. How do I get to rows 7 and 8 if I’m repeating rows 5&6?
