seeking advice Anyone have a lab whose dew claws were removed…. and grew back?

• Upvotes

I’ll start with the disclaimer of the vet is closed now, but I am calling them first thing in the am to get an appointment. Just wanna see if anyone else has experienced this before.

So when I got my dog her dew claws had already been removed. From the records I have, they were removed by the breeder when she was a few days old. On both legs I can feel the little spots where the dew claws used to be, she’s 5 years old (got her at 4 months) and they’ve always been like this. About an hour ago, I noticed one side is visibly red/purple and raised right over where the dew claw used to be. Just looks inflamed and angry and she seems a bit uncomfortable when I touched it to look. I feel… something under the skin. It does almost feel curved like a nail, but is quite small. Feels different from the other normal side and is sort of mobile, not like a fixed mass. Obviously the vet can be the one to tell me for certain, but can a dew claw grow back 5 years later?? Anyone ever had a lab with dew claws removed as a puppy and something like this happen?
Also just adding this in, not sure how to add a pic to the post but if anyone does know I can include one!

seeking advice Potty Training Confusion

Hi all! We just got our 8 week old yellow lab pup, and he is the absolute best. It’s only been a few days, but we’re getting mixed signals in regard to his bathroom breaks.

We live in an apartment, with a turf pad on the balcony. We’ve taught him that when he needs to go, go to the sliding door and ring the bell.

Half the time, he does great. The other half, he’ll go to the door, we open it, and then he’ll just sit / nap outside. The times we ignore him going to the door, is when he has an accident.

Do we open the door for him every single time he goes over? Even if half the time it’s not to use the bathroom?

He will sniff inside, we’ll rush him out, and nothing. The times he sniffs and we ignore, he goes. It’s truly 1/100 times we ignore, he goes.

He’ll go every 15 min, or every hour. So hard to do timer method too.

What are we doing wrong?

Edit: needless to say I am a bit scared of her now ! Like playing with her toys, etc. she wants to be pet and loved and I’m afraid she’ll bite!
