Hyundai Dealerships Service Outside HRM

Have a Hyundai EV, 24k kms, and for now at least still planning to do dealer service (I know, I know… but not the point of the post, love taking my gas cars to a small shop, but still a bit hesitant to leave the OEM service with an EV at this point in the lifecycle). I’m done with HRM service departments though. Willing to drive the hour to see if service is better at a smaller dealership outside the city. Appointment availability sure is. City is booked 2 months out at this point.

I’m looking for people’s general experiences with the service departments at Century (Truro), Bruce (New Minas), and Bridgewater (which I realize is O’Regans, so maybe the same as Dartmouth). I’m sure there are plenty of horror stories, but would love to hear if anyone is happy with the service at any of these places too.

Thanks in advance.

AllNS: Everwind has Deal for 10 Million Litres of Water Daily

Everwind has Deal For 10 Million
Litres Of Water Daily

By Zane Woodford

EverWind Fuels Co. says it needs 500,000 litres of water a day to run its planned Anthropic data centre in Point Tupper, but the company has a deal to take 20 times that much from Landrie Lake.~

The Trent Vichie-led firm signed a 30-year water supply and operation agreement last year with the Landrie Lake Water Utility, jointly owned by Port Hawkesbury and Richmond County.

The agreement, dated Sept. 12, 2025, says EverWind is “developing a green hydrogen and green ammonia production facility and other growth projects at Point Tupper,” and requires “a continuous supply of raw untreated fresh water” of up to 10 million litres daily, “in an amount determined by EverWind.”

The Nova Scotia Regulatory & Appeals Board said in a decision this year that EverWind’s approved yield represents 29% of the total withdrawal limit of 34 million litres per day.

“This water demand will necessitate careful oversight to ensure that (EverWind’s) withdrawals do not compromise the existing raw water supply available to the utility’s current customers,” the decision said.

All other customers are authorized to draw a total of just under 21 million litres per day, including a “short-term standby and growth factor” for nearby Port Hawkesbury Paper.

In 2025, according to a utility report submitted to the board, maximum water volume drawn from the lake was about 9.4 million litres, while the minimum was 4.8 million litres, averaging around 6 million litres.

The board noted the utility “can curtail the supply of water” to EverWind under the terms of the agreement, and said the utility is managing the risk with “staged curtailment protocols.”

“Municipal drinking water, supplied to the town’s utility, is treated as a priority essential use, with the industrial users subject to progressive staged water reduction should conditions warrant such actions,” the decision says.

The board approved the utility’s new rates, adding EverWind as a customer and including a rate for the company calculated at about $73,000 annually.

The company maintains it will use 100,000 litres daily to start and 500,000 litres per day at peak, about 1.5% of the lake’s maximum output.

“EverWind therefore expects the data centre’s requirements to be accommodated within the existing agreement, rather than through a new water-supply agreement,” an unnamed EverWind official said in an email Tuesday.

Port Hawkesbury Coun. Iaian Langley, board chair of the Landrie Lake Water Utility, did not respond to a request for comment.

Earlier this year, EverWind deeded a 4.7-acre portion of its land, on which the utility operates a pumping station, to the provincial government, and the utility and the company have an August easement agreement governing existing and future pipes, dam sites and access roads.

EverWind announced last week the planned data centre campus, starting with a 95MW facility next year and planned to ramp up to 420MW, with San Francisco-based Anthropic, maker of Claude.ai, announcing it signed onto a 20-year agreement for the facility (see 2026-10-16).

Any places to get nesting dolls?

This might be a wild thing to ask, but I just wanted to know if there happened to be any stores in nova Scotia (preferably near the lunenburg, or wolfville area) that sell nesting dolls. My grandmother used to collect some and a couple years back she passed. That grief is starting to catch up to me, so I was wanting to try and get one to help remember her with. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

📰 NS News Membertou Community Update on Partnership with Everwind Fuels

From Chief Terry Paul:

Membertou,

Our partner Everwind has been in the news lately, and it’s important that you, our community know the facts.

Membertou has been partnered with Everwind for 5+ years on developing clean energy projects in Nova Scotia. Membertou is the majority owner of proposed on-land wind farms to produce clean wind power at four sites in the province, Bear Lake, Kmtnuk, Upper Afton and Windy Ridge.

Everwind recently announced they are partnered with Anthropic to develop a data center in Point Tupper Industrial Park. Membertou is not partnered on the data center project. We’re currently assessing and learning about the project in deeper detail and haven’t invested at this time.

Everwind has been a thoughtful and trustworthy partner to us over the last five years.

Here are some facts about the data center that might dispel rumours and misinformation circulating online:

Everwind Data Center Project Facts:

  • The proposed data center will be a closed-loop, cold-climate center which will focus on sustainably using water from Landrie Lake.
  • Landrie Lake is a man-made lake near Point Tupper and is currently used to service other industrial operations in the area. At full capacity only 1.5% of the daily allowance from the Lake will be needed to service the data center.
  • In Phase 1 of the project, the data center will utilize the equivalent of an olympic-sized swimming pool worth of water on a monthly basis.
  • At full capacity, the data center will utilize about one-fifth what golf courses use to maintain their operations.
  • The data center is a private investment of $8-billion – the largest private investment the province of Nova Scotia has ever seen.
  • As a new paying customer on the electricity system, the data center will deliver substantial financial benefits and allow the grid to be maintained without putting a burden on customers/rate payers.

Computing, artificial intelligence, and data are the way of the technological future. If you’re reading this message today via social media, data and AI are being used. We have a responsibility to be at the forefront of these major projects to ensure they’re designed and developed from a sustainable lens.

Our communities know what happens when we’ve not been at the table for important industry decision-making in the past. Currently, there is an opportunity to shape this new industry during these early stages; to ensure environmental measures are upheld, and to ensure our resources are well-managed.

The truth is, these centers will be part of our future.

They will continue to be developed based on demand. We can either have a say about how they impact our communities and be at the table to set forth guidelines and stewardship, or we can choose to ignore the responsibility we have to the coming generations.

The next seven generations won’t live a life that looks like ours.

It’s important we set them up for sustainable success in these industries that will be part of their everyday life.

The Membertou community can be assured that like all business decisions we make, our investments are rooted in thoughtful research, our commitment to continuing to provide opportunities for community members, and being a leader for the island of Unama’ki.

Data Centre location flattened and prepared for construction but the wind farm locations aren't even accessible 🤔

They really think Nova Scotians are stupid. Multiple wind projects were already supposed to be operational by now. Bear Lake Wind and Kmtnuk Wind were supposed to be operational 2025 according their Environmental Assessments. But now their website says construction for Bear Lake starts 2026 (tick tock Vichie 2026 is almost over). And Kmtnuk is set to be operational 2027/2028. Windy Ridge was supposed to start construction in 2025, now it says 2026

Support for grade 5 dyslexia?

Looking for advice, resources, programs etc from school or school board level (CCRCE) to external schools or programs anywhere in the province. Could also be online but preferably in person.

For a student in grade 5 that is struggling and needs help catching up (and ongoing support). For now, we’d be focused on getting her as close to caught up as possible.

Any advice or guidance, testimonials, etc appreciated!

Based in Pictou County but could travel for a good program.

Coyote or Coywolf?

Post image

Are Coywolves actually a thing? Came across this guy in Middle Sackville while hiking with my dog. Assuming he's coyote but he was massive!! Way bigger than what a typical coyote would be. Luckily I got my dog back on leash before she seen him but he just stood perfectly still watching us. We backed away slowly and left without incident.

Is Driver Dave in Halifax still operating?

Has anyone used Driver Dave in Halifax recently? They were super reliable in the past, and usually just filling out the online form would be enough to get the booking confirmed.

I submitted a booking request but haven’t heard anything back in over a day. Just wondering if they’re still operating or if their booking process has changed.

Has anyone booked with them recently? Thanks!

Halifax Real Estate: From Buyer’s Market to Boom and What Comes Next

Thumbnail

I did a deep dive through 14 years of Halifax market stats and wrote up where things stand. Halifax is where the numbers live, but the pattern should look familiar across much of the province:

• In 2015 Halifax had 12.8 months of inventory and an average price of $284K. The 2020–2022 boom doubled prices in under a decade; 2025 averaged $601K.
• Right now: 1,660 active listings, -0.3% appreciation, 98.24% list-to-sale, 37 days on market. The mechanics are shifting back toward buyers for the first time since 2019.
• The sleeper finding is the recent CAP report: 83% of HRM residential properties are now under capped assessments, leaving 17% carrying a disproportionate share of the tax burden that's quietly distorting the whole market.
• Starter homes ($500–700K) are still holding up because the buyer pool is deepest there; the $900K+ tier is where the softness shows. (A buyer in the r/halifax thread confirmed this from the ground.)

Curious if this matches what people are seeing outside HRM. Is the same buyer-leverage shift happening in the Valley, the South Shore, Cape Breton?
