Do you bake the jars?
When you're making stash jars or decorating them - do you bake them together with the clay? Or do you glue it on after baking?
Thanks :)

hi i just started learning how to use polymer clay! i’ve been looking into getting my sculptures smoother and tried sanding with wet sandpaper from 400-3000 which was very tedious and since the figure has nooks and crannies and it’s kind of hard to keep everything the same smoothness? i just wish everything was more uniform especially around the ears and legs. is this just a reality of sanding or would something like this get easier with practice?
also is sanding just not ideal for these types or projects? how do you all like to smooth your clay after baking?
thanks for reading :3

I’m losing my mind. I have no success hardening the UV resin on my stuff. I’ve tried yesterday for two hours and now I’ve tried the same thing today. It hardens randomly or stays tacky. I want to switch to polyurethane but I want to at least try figuring out what’s going on here.

Look what I used the ballpoint pen spring for!✨️
I mean, come on—how could you go through life without sculpting 'The Home Tyrant' and Karlson at least once? 😋🤗

ive always looked up to people who make the silly little figures of their ocs and finally decided to try my own hand at it. i think for the first try it's come out pretty good...but the fur parts break off at slight pressure. i've had to glue back a fair amount of them.
for context on my process, i've done parts of it at a time. like for example i did the body, put it in the oven at 275f for 5 minutes, then continued adding onto it once it's cooled. everything on the figure is completely dry and no longer malleable.
is there anything i can do to make it stronger? does it just need more baking time? a higher temp? something else? i do plan to eventually paint it but i wanna make sure it doesn't fall apart while i'm doing so. thank you for the help ^^

Hiii! I’ve been on the hunt for really firm clay, I’ve tried the super sculpey firm clay but it gets soft after I use it. Is there any other polymer clay I don’t know about that would be good to use to make figurines. Please let me know, I’ve been dying over here^^

I didn’t start too long ago. Anyway, I made it of polymer clay and coated it in epoxy. Just thought I’d share it.

Here are some sculptures I did when I first started working with polymer clay, 2014 and 2015. Hopefully I can continue once again and not give up >.>

My ONLY complaint is that the base can't quite support the weight so his lean is becoming more dramatic over time haha.

I want to make something like this for my bf for Christmas, but I don’t know where to get good clay. Preferable somewhere online I can order it from Canada. I want it to be shiny, so I guess that would mean oven baked clay. I was going to order a whole kit from Amazon, but the one I originally ordered said it was very fragile so I canceled it. I also want the clay to be coloured. I don’t want to have to paint

Hi! This is my first post on this subreddit. I've been working with polymer clay for nearly three years now, but this is my first time actually painting a piece - I usually prefer to use pre-coloured polymer clay instead of painting my pieces after baking. However, I want to create a gradient effect with paint on this beetle charm, so I'm painting it.
As you can see in the pictures, my white acrylic base coat is applying extremely patchy and streaky. The original piece before painting didn't have a rough surface at all (see picture 4), but the paint makes it look like it did.
Has anyone else encountered this problem before? How can I fix this? Thank you!

Here’s some Halloween inspired Miffy charms! I don’t always have time to sculpt but I’m very happy with how these turned out 🎃

My latest completed project. I had the idea for this for a while before I actually started after my surgery last year. I worked on it between other small projects but she’s finally done:)
Materials
Polymer clay
Wire
Tin foil
Super glue

1-month into playing with clay, made my first original clay lighter case. Even though this is also inspired by many artists, I still conceptualised this on my own. It was instigated by a friend who told me he wants a dog-inspired case. I got happy thinking someone liked my work and wants me to make one for them sooo I did some mental drawing and made this. Broke one of its tooth though, I am still happy! ✨ Share suggestions to help me make my creations better please 🫶🏼

Hi everyone ! I'm pretty new to clay and have made little cute objects so far. I fell in love with this kind of art and thought this could be a good usecase to learn armatures. However I'm wondering how would you approach this kind of sculpture from a technical point of view (of course at a pretty reasonable scale)?
I thought about making some long section of square shaped cylinder with some armature wire in the middle, and then bend them into shape, but I think putting it into shape may bend the square section in many place and require both very thin armature and work to shape it back the edges afterwards. Or put an armature first into the desire shape and then little by little bring material onto the wire, and shaping it back into square/edge with fingers then tools. What would you do ? or maybe another option I didn't think of ?
For the gradients I have no idea, I guess it can only be done by spray painting but if anyone has other idea i'm all ears :D
Thank you all !
