Discussion 3-4 defense isn’t working at all

i dont think i can take the linebackers specifically that mf tommy eichenberg just constantly leave the flat open every single time, while the corners are 10 yards off every single time or they get hoed in man coverage, the only ones playing somewhat decent is the safeties and nakobe dean

just switch the primary to nickel, i don’t understand why taron johnson who’s the best corner on this team is on the sideline for 70% of the game that mf rob leonard doesn’t know wtf he’s doing

also do we not have blitz packages or disguise packages, be creative

Rob Leonard is a bum. Everyone associated with the Patrick Graham coaching staff needs to be out of the building by the final whistle of week 18. They’re all horrible.

Are Raiders BUYERS or SELLERS? If so, what POSITION is PRIMARY?

Post image

Key needs are WR1, OL, and DT. I think DT is the most needed we are allowing too many points, and cant stop the run.

Question Are Raiders more of a Bay Area or LA team culturally speaking?

Yeah I know they’re in LV but please we all know they represent California. It’s officially the unofficial 4th California team. Given the strong LA fanbase, and living in SoCal, I’ve always viewed them as an LA team that happens to have played in the Bay and LV.

James Hetfield chillin with Ice Cube at Allegiant Stadium yesterday.

I know we don’t do “moral victories” around here but at least Ice Cube and James Hetfield didn’t show up decked out in blue and yellow.

Our defensive struggles

I honestly believe our defensive scheming is very good, but it’s extremely easy to manipulate

its unfortunate because the kind of defense we have relies way too much on our engine. we have absolutely no way to stop the run because our NTs are absolutely garbage, and forces our pass rush to focus on the run.

when we strip our front four of their primary abilities you open up the opponents offense to hell if a lot more. they’re licking their chops at PA runs, screens, short posts and anything in the middle. this wears down the secondary as they’re likely to run man over coverage to not give up anything big.

the worst part about our secondary is they’re all rookies and aren’t fully up to nfl speed, so again, easy to exploit. This gives them their big chunks for these insane rhythm/timing based offenses mcvay, Johnson, and shanahan love to run (Kubiak as well), with crazy personnel sets and that’s when your defense looks like what it did last night.

our front four unfortunately hasn’t lived up to the ability to maintain the extra workload, and seeing as this is the case it makes sense why we tried drafting/signing a bunch of run stoppers. though, those abilities have yet to be seen.

Discussion “bRocK Is Our wR1”

if ur still saying this please just stfu

the man is a tight end, not a receiver

you think he’s a wr1 because he’s always lined up in the slot where he’s against linebackers and safeties who cant cover him for shit and is always open and catching passes, he’s almost never lined up on the offensive line

a threatening wide receiver is important to be able to stretch the field out and create space for other players and helps open up the run game by keeping the corners and safeties in deep coverage

for what we need in an actual wide receiver, we need a physical guy with hands who can create separation and is also dynamic enough to play in the slot and outside the numbers

i have slight faith that jack bech can be the guy but idk, as of rn he seems like a waste of a pick but we’ll see when he comes back

Not a fan of either team tonight, but I really hate those white helmets the cowboys keep busting out. That said, it would be cool if the eagles did an updated version of their white helmets...

Question Does anybody think the raiders actually have a future?

Me and my father ended up getting into an argument about the future of this franchise. Earlier today, he had watch Colin Cowherd say how "the raiders are just a draft pick away from being contenders". I immediately interjected saying that "people have been saying that (raiders fans atleast) about the raiders for years and our team has never amounted to anything of the sort." I substantiated that by adding to my point that our franchise never accomplished with and failed Derek Carr because of inept coaching decisions. He later claimed that many of the Raiders fans he talked we also optimistic labeling me as a "pessimist" but I feel I'm just being realistic. I hope I'm wrong and I'm probably gonna get flamed by the comments for sounding like an asshole but whatever.

[Bardahl]: Will Tom Brady’s new endeavors satisfy him? New book explores who he is as a leader

In a recent conversation with The Athletic, Anderson said in reporting for the book he learned Brady to be a relationship-driven leader, “rather than an orderer, or a classic masculine NFL type of leader.”

One anecdote that stands out to Anderson came from Jed Weaver, a former tight end who spent much of his NFL career as a backup and was a late addition to the New England Patriots’ 2004 team. After one game that season, Brady spotted Weaver’s parents outside the locker room and made a deliberate detour.

“Great to see you again, Tom and Rhonda,” Brady said, per the book’s retelling. “Did you enjoy the game?”

“I played for four different teams in my career, and guys around the league would say, ‘Tom Brady is a pompous jackass who thinks he’s so cool,’” Weaver said in the book. “But ask my parents what they think of Tom Brady. He blew their minds. I was a backup tight end who’d only been around a month, and he treated my parents like they were very important people in his life.”

As the book goes on, Brady’s introductions to new teammates — no matter how recognizable he was — become a common theme. Many former teammates described it as the moment their expectations were dulled to the more accurate reality of Brady as a human, athlete and teammate. Somehow the most unrelatable guy on the team felt exactly the opposite, helped early in his career by quirks like his unmistakable canary-yellow Jeep Wrangler and the teasing of his teammates.

“He’s a little bit of a soft kitty in some man categories,” former Patriot offensive tackle Matt Light remarks at one point. “But Tommy can chug a beer.”

In hindsight, the shine of Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings can glare on his history as an underdog. That story is well documented: from high school backup to climbing the depth chart at Michigan to being selected with the 199th pick on a Patriots team that looked like it wouldn’t even have room for him.

“If Tom was like anyone else in the world and had allowed his circumstances to determine his mindset,” Brady’s former roommate David Nugent said in the biography, “he never would have become anything in the NFL.”

Defensive acquisitions?

• Upvotes

Raiders are currently 31st in points allowed, and 5th in points scored. Who, or what position(s) would you go after to help things out? A run stopper DT and a veteran corner could really help out.

Kirk is playing well, BUT...

• Upvotes

First off: this isnt an anti Kirk post. This is just an analysis.

People keep citing the "Kirk leads the league in TDs" statistic, which is true. However, I dont think its as meaningful as some people think. Look at our box scores splits on our losing streak:

Rams: 3 3 0 15
Bills: 7 6 0 17
Pats: 7 0 3 7
Chiefs: 7 6 0 14

Almost all those TDs are coming in the 4th Q. I wont call it "garbage time" because the game's still been winnable in a lot of those situations, and he's keeping us close, but its definitely a reflection of situation football forcing the issue, rather than Kirk having our offensive production consistently high. And its great that he can do it in the 4th when we need it, but then the question is why he isnt doing it for the first 3 quarters

Those 3rd quarter goose eggs are especially damning. We have to be able to get momentum coming out of halftime.

I'm not calling for Fernando on Sunday, but I dont think it would be unthinkable either - Kirk isnt making himself quite as unbenchable as his most ardent supporters say.
