Hi all, hope everyone is well. Here is the voter guide for this year!
If you have questions on where to find information not listed in this guide, please shoot me a message and I'll try to help.
If you missed the deadline for normal registration you can also register to vote in person at your polling place during early-voting.
The DMV is also using self-service registration kiosks!
Link: https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/
Description:
*Your sample ballot/voter registration lookup will usually list the specific people representing your districts. This significantly lowers the time and effort it takes to track down information.
The sample ballot location is located under the fourth section on the page.
Election day is November 3rd! Early Voting is from October 15th to October 31st!
Click here to go to the Wake County maps page
Description:
You can find specific names through your Voter ID page as well! See the Voter Information section.
GoRaleigh and GoTriangle are no longer fare free, but I have included the routes below. You can also see fare information on their websites:
I have no idea what's happening in these counties, but here's their election pages! If you live here there's definitely information for you.

The images above were taken from the slide deck of a presentation put on by Down Home NC, which has an extensive summary here, and you can sign the pledge to vote no here.
Don't let the wording fool you. These amendments aren't about you, they are about corporations (think Duke Energy, Data Centers, and outside corporate interests) and the 1%, and we don't need amendments to pass the same exact laws. As I stated in the title, once amendments are passed, they are extremely difficult to undo, whereas normal legislation can be changed as the need arises.
"If passed, these ballot measures would drastically reduce state and local government funds, which could cause layoffs of educators, firefighters, emergency services, and other public workers — especially when combined with huge federal budget cuts coming down from Congress. It could mean the end of food stamps and affordable healthcare programs – which could in turn shut down hospitals and grocery stores and further impact NC farmers."
- Down Home NC
What is more, the NC income tax rate is already scheduled to fall below 3.5% in 2027, and still more by 2036 (image 5). As such, the income tax amendment will not affect you in the foreseeable future, but it will eliminate the possibility of corporations ever paying more than 3.5%, and any new legislation that tried to move the corporate tax rate above 3.5% would be unconstitutional.
At the same time, the other amendment seeks to cap property tax increases by local governments, but the wording is vague at best and doesn't say what it actually means to do, allowing for any number of interpretations they could argue as "constitutional" once passed. Regardless, taken in tandem with the income tax amendment, the mere nature of the other amendment would be to squeeze local communities of funds. When taxes levied by the state are reduced, the burden falls to localities. When taxes levied by localities are reduced, the burden falls on YOUR community. Think higher sales tax, fines, fees, parking, etc. and hits to local infrastructure - schools, roads, buildings, sidewalks, parks and recreation, libraries, Medicaid AND SNAP, etc.
In wrapping up, I'll reiterate once more that lawmakers do not need amendments to the NC State Constitution to achieve any what the amendments would achieve. Laws could just as easily passed - laws that could be revisited and adjusted over time in efforts toward a fairer tax code. Again, they are trying to rob the middle and lower class for the benefit of the wealthy and corporations, and lock that structure in for decades.
Don't fall for it!! VOTE NO on both tax amendments, and while you are at it, vote no on the Voter ID amendment. In case you haven't noticed, NC already requires Voter ID in order to vote.

My neighbor left this in the alley behind our houses. Apparently, people walking their dogs have been putting bags of poop in his trash can, and he’s clearly not happy about it.
People put it in mine too, and honestly, I don’t care—as long as it’s bagged and goes in the regular trash, not the recycling or yard waste cans.
I’ve never put any in his cans, but I have used other trash cans around the neighborhood while walking my dog and never really thought anything about it. I usually just clean it up and if there’s a trashcan by the street, I’ll throw it in it.
Now I’m wondering if I’ve been that neighbor without realizing it.
What do y’all think? Is it OK to put a tied bag in someone’s trash can along the alley, or should you always carry it home?

Not posting pics in-till it is carried out for safety but at least 15-30 armed officers in the woods beside Whole foods. Drone in the air as well.
Update: they have him.
Update 2: There is still a chopper circling and i did not clearly see anyone in cuffs but the entire force left and weren’t in a hurry. Also what heard like yelling to “stand down and stay where you are” right before this which made assume he was apprehended.

Republicans are getting their asses handed to them in early polling (downvote, call me a liar, I don't give a shit) data and so gerrymandering efforts/bs are in full swing. They're trying to reject mail in ballots in pretty much every way they can. Go vote in person if you can

Alright.. who’s making all that noise with the fireworks in downtown Raleigh?!
The fair is over, isn’t it? 😂

Each voting site in Wake Forest, Cary, and Apex along with the Abbotts Creek Community Center in Raleigh remain the sites with the longest waits, especially in the afternoon.
More details are available here.

Is anyone else hearing or seeing fireworks right now in downtown Raleigh? I’m on person street and has been going for 2 -3 minutes but I don’t see anything. Also not sure of a holiday or reason…?
r/raleigh • u/TraditionalGuitar646 • 15h ago
I know the fair JUST ended and I ended up going twice but after trying so many new foods this year, I didn’t get my classic order of deep fried Oreos and I’m kinda bummed out. Are there any places near Raleigh that serve them or is my best bet to simply make them at home?

Hello everyone.
Yesterday my dog was attacked at the Carolina Pines dog park. I was there by myself for the longest time until a lady came walking in with two dogs. I asked her before she entered if her dogs were friendly and she claimed they were "friendly but full of energy"
Once the dogs entered they immediately starting chasing my dog and trying to corner her. I noticed and started yelling at the owner the get her attention and ran over to the dogs. At this point the two dogs had my dog cornered and terrified. Thats when I saw them bite my dog. I was screaming and crying hysterically and the owner of the other dogs was still trying to make her way over to the scene. I tried grabbing my dog to save her and ended up getting bit as well by one of her dogs.
I kept screaming and crying over and over yelling for help and to get her to get her dogs to let go and stop and at this point she was trying to get her dogs off my dog but the dogs had latched on and were not letting go. Luckily the dog let go finally and I picked up my dog and ran to the entrance gate to safety. A man tried to come into the park and I was screaming at him to go away and not come in there and just kept saying "go away, please, go away". He eventually did turn around and leave.
I rushed my dog to the emergency vet where they found she had a puncture wound in her back leg. I had a puncture wound on my wrist from the attack as well that was swelling. Thankfully the amazing people at the vet helped flush the wound and made sure my dog was all ok. For anyone wondering, it was the petfolk in North Hills that we went to. They deserve the highest praise.
After driving back home to my apartment, I then had to be sent to the ER for my bite wound and proceeded to have to get 4 shots and an antibiotic due to the unknown nature of the dogs vaccination status. After speaking with animal control they confirmed the other owner had not reported anything to the proper channels yet which is irresponsible and wrong.
Needless to say the entire experience was incredibly traumatic for me and my dog. I wanted to post this for two reasons:
On the long shot chance the lady who brought her dogs in sees this and wants to make things right by reaching out to me. (I already filed a report through animal control about the entire situation). Or if the man who was trying to come in who I yelled at to go away sees this and can help me give more identifying information about the woman and her dogs to the authorities, or if someone in the neighborhood has any information about what happened that they could help me with reporting.
As a PSA for everyone. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS TO THE DOG PARK IF THEY ARE AGRESSIVE IN ANY WAY!!!!!! This whole situation could've been avoided easily. Also please don't bring dogs that you can't control to a dog park. That is a huge danger to everyone there. Finally, to just stay clear of this dog park. It's secluded and quiet, sure, but there are no cameras, entrance waivers, registrations needed, nothing. And looking back on this sub, I'm not the only person whose had this happen there. This place is bad news.

Hello friends.
I’m from Charleston and it’ll be my first time in Raleigh next June to see Metallica!
My dad is in his 70s and has vertigo but Metallica is his favorite band and if he’s feeling up to it I’d love to bring him.
That being said, I bought tickets on the ground. Like, first row, seated, but as low as it gets so as not to irritate his vertigo.
The stage will be lifted and have a snake pit. I am currently mortified that somehow we won’t be able to see everything from the seats. I paid pretty good money to have an amazing memory with my dad and I’m just wondering if I should switch up while I still can.
Does anyone have experience with this kind of scenario? The seats are section 7, so looks like I don’t have to worry about the big fixtures blocking the stage.
Thank you so much for any advice going forward!

Hi all, I’m seeking a good, honest plumber for an inspection and work. I’ve a good neighbor who’s helped me in the past, but I get the feeling they’re not interested in large or difficult projects.
I know there’s a few things we need fixed, but I’d like someone who can do a thorough inspection and quote me on a larger scope of work if it’s necessary.
That said, I’ve seen some horror stories on Reddit about bigger companies that both aggressively upsell and have less experienced staff.
Is there someone you know or have used that you’d trust to give you honest advice, does quality work, and doesn’t shy away from difficult projects?
Thank you in advance!

hi All, first time parent here, moved here recently as well. Trying to enroll my child for kindergarten next year via https://www.wcpss.net/enroll but when I select the pre-enroll for the 2027-2028 school year, I am met with a bright green background with text "An Unknown Error Has Occurred" .
Some of the stuff on there, if you click around long enough looks to be outdated...
Am I missing something here?

I've seen multiple posts here recently about people who are lonely seeking companionship. We have a loneliness epidemic in this country, and it isn't discussed enough. There are reasons for this that I won't get into right now, but I wanted to provide some resources for those who are lonely or just looking for things to do in our area.
First, if you're feeling isolated: there is nothing to be ashamed of. People out there care about you, and finding a shared passion is one of the best ways to build meaningful relationships.
If you're looking to build community or just find something fun to do, these local groups and activities are a great place to start:
Also, if you are experiencing mental health challenges, here are some additional resources:

Hey everyone! I'm looking for a regular group to play badminton with at Triangle Badminton Club in Morrisville. I used to play a few years ago and I'm getting back into it. I'm somewhere in the middle, definitely not a pro but not a beginner either.
Since I'm coming solo, I haven't felt comfortable just walking in and asking strangers if I can join. So I figured I'd ask here: does anyone have a regular group or weekly session that's open to one more intermediate player? I work during the day, so evenings or weekends work best for me. Singles or doubles, I'm happy either way.
Feel free to comment or DM me. Thanks!

Hi,
While I was early voting yesterday around 4pm, I had a brain fart and left my child’s stroller in the parking lot after I buckled them up. This was at the Laurel Hills Community Center right by the Sassafras playground.
This is a long shot, but please DM me if you know the whereabouts of a navy blue Joolz Aer2 stroller. I went back both an hour later and this morning with no sign of it. Alternatively, I’d by happy to know of any lost & found groups for that area - I don’t Facebook/social media much.
Thanks!

Does anyone know of a provider in the area who does adult autism assessments, bills insurance, and doesn't have a waitlist into next year? I've hit my out of pocket max and would love to get this done before that resets.

I know this is likely a huge stretch but am curious if there happened to be anyone around this intersection at the time of accident approx 6:50a or so. Looking for help to identify or deny the existence of a hit and run vehicle at the end of a 5 car chain pile up. The accident was on the north bound lanes on 401 just as you would go through the light at the intersection.
If there's anything, that would be amazing as we are definitely reaching here but reddit has surprised me before.

Recently learned about Plum Raleigh and they’re doing a lot of cool craft nights, art shows, and other creative hangs. Check them out!!
