I turned 26 and got kicked off my parents' health insurance. I genuinely think I've entered the seventh circle of hell.

I turned 26 in mid-August, which meant it was finally time to say goodbye to my parents' health insurance and enroll in my company's insurance plan.

WHAT. IN. THE. ACTUAL. FUCK.

I have been on this insurance for approximately TWO MONTHS, and I am already convinced this entire industry was designed by Satan himself as some kind of elaborate psychological torture experiment.

Let me paint you a picture of the absolute NIGHTMARE that has been my existence.

ACT ONE: THE GREAT INSURANCE DISAPPEARING ACT

I turned 26 in August. I submitted ALL of my qualifying life event paperwork. I did EVERYTHING I was supposed to do to get enrolled.

And then?

NOTHING.

Radio silence. Apparently, my paperwork was launched directly into the fucking void.

August comes and goes. September comes and goes.

MID. FUCKING. OCTOBER.

THAT IS WHEN THEY FINALLY GET ME INTO THEIR SYSTEM.

TWO. ENTIRE. MONTHS.

But don't you worry, because you know what WAS working flawlessly that entire time???

THEM TAKING MONEY OUT OF MY PAYCHECK.

OH, SO YOU CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO TAKE MY FUCKING MONEY, BUT YOU CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO GIVE ME THE INSURANCE I'M PAYING FOR???

FASCINATING. TRULY GROUNDBREAKING STUFF.

ACT TWO: THE PROVIDER HUNGER GAMES

Now that I FINALLY exist in their system, I think, "Great! I can finally schedule a doctor's appointment!"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Oh, you sweet, stupid, optimistic little fool.

I go to the website my insurance company provides to find an in-network doctor.

I find one! I call!

"We don't accept that insurance."

Okay. Weird. Whatever. Moving on.

Find another one. Call.

"We don't take that insurance."

...Okay?

Third provider.

NOPE.

FOURTH PROVIDER.

ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT.

FOUR. FOUR PROVIDERS LISTED ON MY INSURANCE COMPANY'S OWN WEBSITE WHO APPARENTLY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF MY FUCKING INSURANCE.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if my insurance is even real. Am I paying for an elaborate subscription service to NOTHING??? Did I accidentally sign up for a monthly donation to some CEO's yacht fund???

ACT THREE: THE WEBSITE THAT WAS A LIE

I decide to call my insurance company.

Because SURELY there must be some kind of explanation for this.

I explain the situation, and they inform me that...

THE WEBSITE THEY DIRECT YOU TO FOR FINDING PROVIDERS ISN'T EVEN THE CORRECT FUCKING WEBSITE.

I'M SORRY.

WHAT?

YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT YOUR OWN WEBSITE, WHICH YOU PROVIDE TO YOUR OWN PAYING CUSTOMERS, SENDS THEM TO A PROVIDER DIRECTORY THEY AREN'T EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE USING???

WHO IS RUNNING THIS COMPANY???

THREE RACCOONS IN A TRENCH COAT???

So they give me a NEW website.

Okay. Fine. Wonderful. Maybe the nightmare is finally over.

ACT FOUR: THE PHONE NUMBERS FROM HELL

I go to the CORRECT website.

I find providers.

I start calling.

THE FUCKING PHONE NUMBERS DON'T WORK.

THE NUMBERS.

DO. NOT.

WORK.

WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO??? SEND A FUCKING CARRIER PIGEON??? COMMUNICATE THROUGH SMOKE SIGNALS??? MANIFEST A DOCTOR THROUGH THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING???

I AM BEGGING. BEGGING ON MY HANDS AND KNEES. PLEASE JUST LET ME GIVE SOMEONE MONEY TO LOOK AT MY MEDICAL PROBLEMS.

ACT FIVE: THE FINAL STRAW

By some divine miracle, I find a phone number that ACTUALLY WORKS.

A REAL HUMAN ANSWERS.

I COULD HAVE CRIED.

We start scheduling an appointment.

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The heavens are opening. Angels are singing. For one fleeting moment, I believe there might actually be a God.

The scheduling lady asks for my insurance.

I tell her.

THE. LINE. GOES. FUCKING. DEAD.

...

I genuinely just sat there staring at my phone.

I HAVE NO WORDS.

NONE.

I AM 26 YEARS OLD. I HAVE BEEN AN ADULT FOR YEARS. I PAY MY BILLS. I HAVE A JOB. I PAY MY TAXES.

WHY DOES SCHEDULING A FUCKING DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT FEEL LIKE I'M TRYING TO DEFEAT THE FINAL BOSS OF A VIDEO GAME THAT WAS SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED TO MAKE ME LOSE MY WILL TO LIVE???

I HAVE JUMPED THROUGH EVERY HOOP. I HAVE CALLED EVERY NUMBER. I HAVE VISITED EVERY WEBSITE. I HAVE GIVEN THESE PEOPLE MY MONEY.

AND FOR WHAT???

FOR FUCKING WHAT???

I DON'T WANT A YACHT. I DON'T WANT A MILLION DOLLARS. I DON'T EVEN WANT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE ANYMORE.

I JUST WANT TO GO TO THE FUCKING DOCTOR.

IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK???

WHY DOES THIS INSURANCE COMPANY EXIST??? WHAT PURPOSE DOES IT SERVE OTHER THAN TO COLLECT MY MONEY AND SYSTEMATICALLY DESTROY MY LAST REMAINING SHREDS OF SANITY???

I HAVE BEEN ON MY OWN INSURANCE FOR TWO MONTHS, AND I AM READY TO FILE FOR EMOTIONAL DAMAGES.

If this is what being 26 is like, I would like to return it. I have the receipt. This product is defective.

TL;DR: Turned 26. Got company insurance. Took two months to get enrolled despite them taking my money the whole time. Their provider website lists doctors who don't accept my insurance. Insurance company tells me it's the WRONG WEBSITE. New website has phone numbers that don't work. Finally get someone on the phone, tell them my insurance, and the call drops. At this point, I am convinced my insurance policy is actually just a monthly subscription to psychological warfare.

My dog has cancer

My dog Ponchi, has been my best friend for 14 years. 14 years of coming home to a wagging tail and excited zoomies. 14 years of runs, walks, bike rides, cuddles on the couch, learning and forgetting tricks, knowing each other so well that we know what all of each other's tones, gestures and habits mean.

3 weeks ago we went to the vet and he got a perfect bill of health. Heart, lungs, organs, blood work, all excellent! Then over the weekend, he started acting weird. Yesterday I took him back to the same vet sheepishly, expecting to be gently told that I worry too much, but instead they told me to rush him to the animal Hospital. They took a sample of his lung tissue and he has advanced lung cancer. The same lungs that were "great" 3 weeks ago.

I'm so mad. I'm mad at the young vet who saw him 3 weeks ago and should have noticed something! Or tested more! I'm mad at myself for not taking him in sooner, not pushing for more tests, for not seeing that he was in pain.

I'm mad that he's gotten sick so suddenly. He was meant to gradually become a stiff sore old grandpa, slowing down over years and then getting put to sleep when the multitude of ailments got too much. He was meant to be some ridiculous age like 22.

I'm mad because he is due to turn 15 in December. We were going to take him to the dog cafe, he was going to wear his fanciest bowtie. It was going to be adorbs.

I'm mad for not cherishing every day with him. The number of times over the years he came to me for a pat but I was busy, tired or... just took him for granted. times I went somewhere fun and left him at home because "it's too much trouble bringing a dog". I should have taken him every possible place, every day.

I'm not even mad really, I'm just so, so sad.

Stop making normal human behaviors into “neurodivergent traits”

Seriously, I see this so much. I just saw someone say that “warm water is round and cold water is pointy, this is something only neurodivergent people understand” like no it’s not it’s a very common thing for people to associate feelings and sounds with shapes. I’ve also seen people say that if you relate other people’s experiences to your experiences in conversations that means that you are neurodivergent. That is something that literally everyone I have ever met does, it’s how humans converse. I feel like you would only have an issue with that if you were a complete narcissist and only ever want to talk about yourself.

People HATE it when you’re unemployed

Why on earth do people care so much about the fact that I don’t have a job, or that I choose not to work?
They aren’t paying for my food or anything else in my life, so why does it concern them?!
People treat you in the worst possible way the moment they find out you’re unemployed even my own sister does it :/

I have savings from my previous job, and I simply wanted to take a full year-long break but it has turned into the worst experience of my life.
I had hoped for a relaxing year and focusing on my hobbies, and give myself some personal time. Because I needed this.

Instead it has become a living hell filled with pressures I can’t even bring myself to talk about with anyone.
I’ve stopped going out because yes, I can’t afford going out much and I don’t want to! why do you care? It’s incredibly frustrating how poorly people treat you, even when you have the money to support yourself! The thing is I stull work as an freelance artist I haven’t actually stopped working all year I’m still selling my art! Yes, I may not get money for two months but I’m FINE with it why do YOU care????
I’ve gotten rid of having a boss who dictates what I should do in exchange for a monthly paycheck. Thats it!

I honestly can’t stand this situation I can’t stand it at all! :/

Having kids IS a sacrifice.

Necessary disclaimer that I don’t hate kids, because apparently saying you are child free or don’t want kids means you hate them.

If you say you don’t want children because of the responsibility, cost or sacrifice, I’ve noticed that you get a lot of pushback from parents. The main things they say is stuff like “they’re not a sacrifice!” “Kids don’t cost that much” “you can do all the same things when you have kids!”

This is obviously not true. Having children is a sacrifice. Maybe you don’t care about the things you are sacrificing so it doesn’t feel like it but that doesn’t stop it from being true. Parents are limited in options for travel. Kids hinder your ability to plan for the future. Kids are hard work and effort. Why are we pretending that they’re not? I’ve lived with my child free sister, and with my sister and her three kids. The difference is MASSIVE. I love my nibblings but having them along DID stop me from doing things I wanted to do, rather than only having to consider an adult who is capable of communication and compromise.

Also I firmly believe that parenting is only difficult if you are doing it correctly. It’s very easy to plop a toddler at grandmas house in front of an iPad and pump them full of red40 and sugar. It’s more difficult to find the financial stability, partnership and again, SACRIFICE, needed to actually raised a child into a contributing member of society.

When I think about having a kid I have never imagined half-assing it because I consider bad parenting to be a moral failiure. In my view, it’s sooo much worse to have kids, without thought of their future to be raised by unwilling parents because they did not think it through. They’re not puppies you can give away when they stop being cute. Isn’t it more respectful of parents to say “this is a decision I have thought about and a commitment I don’t take lightly.”

And what’s wrong with saying you don’t want that responsibility? Because another response I get whenever I make the mistake of interacting with the above comments is “well, you’re just afraid of responsibility!” “You’re immature!” “I hope you never have kids because you’d clearly be a bad parent!” I feel like these are moral judgments. You can claim they are not but they are, because they are insinuating you are a bad person for not wanting kids.

Being an electrician, a doctor, a lawyer are also huge responsibilities, and sacrifices. But if you say you don’t want to be a doctor nobody ever says you are dodging responsibility or would be a bad doctor.

Iv even seen someone say that they think people without kids aren’t full grown adults! I know that is an extremist view point but the fact that that was said and upvoted is insane to me.

I'm tired of people who are Very sure but stupid, saying one liners with conviction where people believe them.. based on their sureness only .

• Upvotes

Theres a couple comments I came across..

Milder as in less people die, not milder as in you feel less sick with it

People got over it bc theyre normal.

Both were talking about covid, the first was a reply to someone saying, symptoms got milder .. reply to that saying, I've gotten it since, feels like the first time I got it .

I'm so tired, of people saying stupid things in such surety, where it takes so long to really dravel.. in the Meantime people oh, yup thats right ..it goes in everything

Anyone, saying something wrong, with enough conviction can be believed.. enough people believing, can easily become fact ..

I'm not going to unravel the whole thing..

Nearly 10 mil dead. The world shut down, countries Normally not getting along, coordinated. Factories, cars, planes, shut down long enough to effect the ozone layer.. something people were trying to figure out for decades, Almost 40 years ..The, World, agreed, on Something .. the entire world, that doesn't happen..

The last time a global catastrophe effecting nearly the entire world where 10 mil people died.. was wwii. Only one was a parasitic virus trying to spread across the globe trying to kill anything it could.. other was covid.

Premise still remains, ill say one more thing.. people still aren't over 9-11 ..this, was Bigger than 9-11.

Normal people don't get over historic, global effected events where near 10 mil died that lasted several, about 2.5, years..

People are stupid, people who are Very sure they're right but are stupid generally are dangerous ..all it takes is one line from one person, then most believe.. to cause damage. Won't even get into the first one . Level of sickness usually equates to level of severity, in symptom.. severity of symptom, equates to level of how sick you feel. generally.. little to no one feels great if they have something that is killing them without medical intervention ..but thats a whole other rant, which would take another page . Unless your nervous system, brain, (or you're lying) is effected. severe symptoms usually equate to worse feeling in sickness.. you feel real bad, if you have more than mild illness.. basically, but I'm not doing two in one posts, so ill leave that in bare info ..less nuance, sorry .

I'm tired of stupid people, saying half thoughts that.. make Zero sense if you think about it for more than one second, become the main voice other people listen to because, Hmm, you sound Pretty sure about that..

Everyday life as well.. people who Sound sure, usually are believed if they can make it sound like a half decent thought when really. They're half asking it, bc they probably were tired of being calles stupid for so long ..so then learned to package it better et Voila ! Suddenly, other stupid people listen.. and most common sense says, if Everyone thinks x, x may be true . If you have enough thinking something most people think there's something to it, when really.. was started by some backward hat guy working on his car .

I very much doubt most people could say, if enough people (especially if they knew them personally ) thought something they wouldn't consider, even for a min, it was true.. I mean Hey, religion was prominent, still is for a Long time.. so who says any of you wouldn't be buckled by the same thing .. same premise, all it takes is one person convincing a few nice people (in personality ), and boom.. suddenly, it's something you consider. Thats why rumors, etc are a thing, people mostly believe "Just in case.. " whw they may have been started by hat guy, or insta girl ..

My DIL is Crazy and Paranoid

I am very well off, so to alleviate my children’s life burdens, I paid off their mortgages. Most people would be thrilled. Nope, my DIL complained that my daughter’s mortgage is larger so I should give my son and DIL the difference. Then, she said I paid the mortgage so I could ‘hold it over her head’. I then said, “Most people would just be happy and not complain about a gift.”

I dunno about the paranoid stuff but should I really pay them the difference?

I HATE COOKIE CUTTER NEIGHBORHOODS

This may seem stupid to some people, but I loath cookie cutter houses, like WHY!

It is so STUPID, that someone woupd make the same house on repeat, they just bulldoze 30 hectares and place the most bullshit looking houses on it, and make them cost 400 thousand dollars, LIKE DUDE, I DONT WANNA BUY A 5 bed and 3 BATH MCMANSION WANNA BE. I wanna live in a neighborhood, just not that ugly ass design!

Like it cpuld be fixed too, but no fuck everyone, make it so we spend 80k in building a house and BOOM 320k in profit. THE FUCK YOU GONNA DO WITH THAT PROFIT DUDE, LIKE JUST ADD VARIETY, not everyone wants or needs a big ass house.

It just pisses me off with the fact that their are variety neighborhoods, I think mixed styles wpuld benefit, that way people who want more land and smaller houses can lived with people whp want big ass houses and no land.

He talks about it all the time and thinks vegetables are bad for you and brings it up whenever we’re eating something that’s not meat. It’s been way worse since he started listening to quacks who think not eating carnivore is the reason ppl have cancer and Alzheimer’s and doctors have been lying to us about red meat to make more money off us bein sick . I wanna tell him to shut but it won’t do any good . Like bro just let me enjoy my vegetables and shut up !!!!

Daylight savings is stupid.

I won't list all the reasons only my personal favorite. We just turned the clocks back and now we have more daylight in the morning. Oh fantastic! Just what I wanted, brighter light to wake me up in the morning, more precious daylight used during breakfast and driving to work and working. That's useful.

Oh and now it's after work, time to spend time with the family or relax, maybe go for a walk. Don't forget your flashlight. F-U-C-K-I-N-G R-E-T-*-R-D-E-D.

I hate the anime community

Everyone is fucking insufferable.

You will find very few people that are normal.

Maybe it's just my luck that all I meet are ship obsessed weirdos and "you're a larp for not knowing what happened in S1 Ep34 where [insert incoherent bullshit that doesn't matter]", and the ones who think they are superior for reading the manga instead of watching the show (the 2nd and 3rd are usually the same people).

The shippers? insufferable pieces of rotting dog intestines.

I'm not a big shipper, I watch shows (and read mangas) for entertainment.

I love seeing how the story develops and how the characters change, I don't give a FUCK about what characters could potentially work together.

I have had the worst absolute WORST interaction with mlm shippers. I've been called homophobic over a fucking ship?!?!!!

I've literally had to explain that my reason for not shipping is not because they are two guys, but because they are not a match at all (looking at you fucking bakudeku shippers).

And those fanatic termites that call me a larp (JUST SAY POSER THAT'S NOT WHAT LARP MEANS!!) for not remembering specific details that happened in a specific episode or for not reading the manga before watching the show can go eat rocks and shove a ten foot poll up their asses IM SICK OF THEM.

I AM SICK OF THIS COMMUNITY!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHY I REFUSE TO INTERACT WITH ANYTHING ANIME RELATED OUTSIDE THE SHOW/MANGA.

I WILL ENJOY MY SERIES IN PEACE, COSPLAY AND BUY MERCH WITHOUT HAVING TO INTERACT WITH THAT FUCKING COMMUNITY.

And yes I understand that the whole community isn't like this, and that's why I try my best to only talk to those who are chill watches and readers, because they don't interrogate me or try to push ships onto me, they're there for the love of the show/manga.

The Great Slopification

I can’t help but think about just how dystopian the world is today and how everything has turned into slop.

I am a current university student, and man, AI was a fun aid at first, but now I wish more than ever that it didn’t exist. It just feels like the world is ending, and the inevitability of mass layoffs, inflation, and suffering lies ahead.

The world is too corporate, polished, and profit-driven. My stats teacher posted a video from around 2010, and it was just a chill dad being quirky, teaching his students, and making dad jokes. Now everything is so efficient, mundane, and serious.
Our architecture went from beautiful stone buildings with pediments to just concrete and glass slop.

Genuinely where does this all end? I feel like society has never been so focused on squeezing out every last penny out of everything they can get their hands on.

Set a professional boundary and it backfired.

I am an MSc student and I've been helping this high school kid (English lessons) on the side for extra cash. Today would have been my fourth or fifth lesson, but he cancelled last minute due to "football training". This is the second time something like this has happened. I planned my day around it. I delayed going to the library + running other errands, prepared some really fun games and activities for him, even though I have a presentation tomorrow, an assignment day after, exam next week, and billions of readings to catch up on. I let his dad know that moving forward (I let today pass), any cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance will be charged. He informs me immediately that they will no longer be continuing their lessons. I don't think I was unreasonable. I composed and recomposed my message until it was as polite as it can be. But yeah. Sigh. I know now to mention it in the beginning but it's so uncomfortable.

Expats

I despise this term because it's never used correctly. It's most commonly used by racist westerners that moved to a third world country because they're rich there and they refuse to call themselves "immigrants" when that's what they are. They think immigrant is only for people of color. An expat is someone who has the INTENTION OF TEMPORARILY STAYING and moving back to their country in the future. An immigrant is someone looking for permanent residence. I fucking lose my mind watching videos of white people saying they've been expats for 20+ years or some stupid shit like that.

Fuck You and Your Stupid Teambuilder

I’m trying to be mature about this but there’s a team-building event happening at the office today and everyone gets to wear funny hats and participate in a pumpkin decorating contest. I can hear them laughing and having a good time.

And I’m not fucking invited.

I’m the head assistant, so I don’t fall into any of the units in my department, technically, I don’t have a group I work with, it’s just me.

So every time there’s a Teambuilding event, it’s organized into smaller parties by unit and I’m excluded because I don’t have a unit.

They emailed me saying the TV isn’t working in on of the conference rooms, so I brought an HDMI cable to help. I heard them all laughing and having a good time and I saw them all wearing matching funny hats. Then I showed up and everyone got quiet and looked at me like I just rudely interrupted an important meeting.

I give the supervisor of that unit the HDMI, she says thank you and after I walk away, I hear everyone burst out laughing???

They’re doing a little award ceremony now while I sit in my cubicle working and I feel completely invisible.

This is why I keep applying to higher positions, I hate being treated this way and I hate being paid so little, but nothing has been working out. I know I’m kinda awkward and I know people don’t like women who don’t smile or socialize much (that’s me). But I really am nice and hard-working. But I don’t even get the chance to show any of that because I’m not included in the group.

Outside of work, I have plenty of friends, but it’s tough not to let this shit affect my self-esteem when I spend 40 hours a week in this middle-school-style mean girls environment.

Fuck these clique bitches and fuck their stupid work parties. I’m so sorry that you have to socialize at work because you don’t have any friends or hobbies in real life.

What the HELL is going on with Xbox console prices?!

A few weeks ago, my Xbox Series S was officially declared beyond repair. Honestly, I didn't make too big of a deal about it at first because I figured I could just stick with Xbox Cloud Gaming until I was ready to purchase another console.

Well, now Microsoft has decided to introduce cloud gaming limits, so I figured it was time to start shopping around for a replacement.

And all I have to say is... WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH THESE PRICES?!

I understand gaming has never exactly been a cheap hobby, but the prices I'm seeing are absolutely ridiculous. Even USED and REFURBISHED consoles are selling for only $50–$100 less than their brand-new counterparts!

At that point, why would I even bother buying used? If I'm already spending that much money, I might as well pay the difference and get a brand-new console with a full warranty.

And mind you, we're talking about consoles that have been on the market for nearly SIX YEARS! You would think prices would be coming down by now, especially this far into the console generation.

I was actually hoping to upgrade to a Series X this time around, but looking at these prices, I'm starting to question whether it's even worth it.

What's even more frustrating is that cloud gaming was supposed to be a convenient alternative for people who couldn't afford or didn't want to purchase a console. Now, with Microsoft introducing limits, that alternative is becoming less appealing, too.

I love Xbox, and I've invested plenty of money into its ecosystem, but between the console prices, subscription changes, and cloud gaming restrictions, it's becoming increasingly frustrating just trying to enjoy the games I've already paid for.

Is anyone else shocked by how expensive these consoles still are, or have I just been living under a rock? Because seriously, what happened to buying a used console for a reasonable price?

I hate driving

My parents have been teaching me and making me practice for years and I’m still not good at it. I don’t have my license due to external circumstances that have stopped me from taking the driver’s test. My family tries to motivate me to be excited about driving but honestly it just adds pressure especially giving their expectations on me because I’m the oldest and my sister has her license. My mom actually accused me of struggling on purpose. Plus I don’t see driving as fun it’s purely a necessity, practically a chore where you make one wrong and your life is at risk. It’s incredibly annoying when my Dad keeps changing his mind on what I should do when driving. Being on the highway I can’t imagine actually managing driving through by myself. Mistakes are easy to make if you don’t keep your attention 100% everywhere making it tiresome. I just dislike it

I am literally the only one who wants to do anything about employers ghosting candidates.

If an employer decides to reject a candidate and does not hire them, that’s fair.

It appears that people keep thinking I’m talking about employers rejecting candidates is what I’m upset about. It’s not.

It’s employers who are too evil, childish, and cowardly to tell the candidate they are not hired.

They deserve to be confronted about it. They deserve to be pushed about why they have not contacted.

FFS an employer could say “if we have any further instructions for you we will contact you”. Because enablers and defenders tend to bring up “what if they have hundreds of candidates.”

I’m so fucking over my hometown

So long story
Basically, I was hanging out in my house when I spotted a homeless woman taking and stealing all of the cans from my next-door neighbor, my Aunt confronted her she grabbed the cans and walked away. I posted on Facebook “Does anybody know this lady so it doesn’t happen again” and I know taking cans is not illegal, but I just wanna make sure because there are some people out there that don’t want anybody on their property.
The whole entire Facebook group blew up on me saying I need to let the homeless people take the cans and I need to let them do whatever they’re gonna do and I’m a horrible person with her confronting that and I need to get a life
Basically, my whole hometown enable the homeless people here and these homeless people are aggressive, where I live
Somebody even said go through all of the trash and leave a trash bag of cans out on the front yard so they can just take it and pick it up
I’m so pissed off because I told people that if this homeless person does it again I don’t want them near my house
So I texted the neighbor and they said is this OK and the neighbor was like yeah that’s fine but then their person home and got mad because not only this homeless person take the cans in the front through all the trash
The homeless person also went through his vehicle vehicles and took whatever was in those vehicles because they have cameras
And now who’s to say this homeless person didn’t steal more than just cans
I’m just over my hometown
Like we enable the homeless problem, unless it happens to the person that defended them
I don’t want homeless people around my house that’s the issue. They have a little camp right next to a restaurant and nobody goes near that restaurant because they are so mean.
And a lot of people in the Facebook group also said that it gives them money to do whatever they want and if people would open their eyes and quit being stupid, they’re getting money for drugs
They’re not getting money to eat food or to get a new sleeping bag
I’ve lived in my hometown since I was three and we’re such a tiny town there is 1900 people that live here
And it’s not just the homeless thing it’s like in order for you to get a job here in my hometown. They are so picky and so stingy with choosing people it’s hard.
You either have to know a lot of people for the job or you have to be not white
I wish I had the money to move, but I don’t
So the next time anything happens, I’m just gonna look the other way

STOP WITH THE CONSTANT MARKETING CONTACTS

I really, really wish that companies would stop being so over-eager with their marketing. Just because I did business with you yesterday doesn’t mean it’s time to blow up my goddamn phone with additional offers. It’s inescapable.

It’s, like, we did hand stuff once. For five minutes. It ain’t time to put a fucking ring on it. Lose my number. Leave me alone.

And then there are the ones I haven’t done business with in years - still emailing me for this offer and that. It’s like the ex from high school who still “checks in” on you. You know what? If you love my money, let me go. If I fucking come back, it’s all yours. There’s some dumbass song about that.

But the key isn’t in one so damn desperate and to leave me the hell alone. I am just so goddamn tired of it.

Context: My boyfriend and I work together. Everyone there has been there for YEARS, many 7+ years. Im 19 and ive been there for almost 3 years. Its a nice resturant in that the service, food, and coworker relationships are all good. No drama ever really. Everyone gets along.

That being said, one of the 50yo severs is much like a father figure to me. He said it himself that he sees me almost like a daughter. Its nice because my real father and I dont have too good of a relationship, yo the point where I moved out at 18. Its refreshing that this server actually holds values that I literally didnt know men have-- when an old man cussed out his wife, the server told him to leave. I really never knew men would defend a woman, because even though its illogical to assume that of half the population, my upbringing never let me believe it. My bf doesnt even defend me, and automatically assumes situations are my fault.

The actual rant:

When this father-figure side-hugs me, and occasionally kisses my head (like scalp sort of thing, not forehead, but like a dad does), I never felt it creepy. I work in costumer service and absolutely have experienced creepy. Ive been called cute by 40 year old men, ive had this particular group of 20-55yo men literally lean their chair back to watch me. Ive been hit on while drunk, ive been hit on by drunks. Ofc not everytime ive been hit on is creepy, but ik not so naive that I think every interaction MUST be innocent/creepy. Theres levels to this lol

My boyfriend gets very upset when the father-figure does things like side-hug me. Ive never felt creeper out by it. Ive never felt like he crossed a line or was inappropriate. I know I feel safe in a room alone with him, from experience. Hes a bit older than my real dad, and has kids a bit older than me.

My bf swears men dont rhink that way. The server is hugging me and thinking bad things. I told him its not like that, that its innocent. He swears it is not. Guys dont think that way, he says.

Maybe this is where the nativity comes out. I dont WANT to believe it. How can you think sexual thoughts about someone you apparently view as a daughter? I know hes single and that he has flirted with many women that are around his age... im 19, 20+ younger than the women he goes after

Why does it feel like I cant know a guy without him thinking bad things? Why does it have to be so dangerous to wanna have an innocent relationship with a guy?

My bf's little cousin is about my age, and I view him as a real friend. Like genuinely at a true friend. I dont wanna imagine he'd also think bad things about me.

Can guys really not see a woman and NOT think about those things??? What does it day about mt bf, too :/ especially considering he called other girls cute and looked at the female coworkers still when me and him started seeing each other.

And apparently guys still think these things, knowing the girl is in a relationship. Is that also true? I dont even eanna imagine.

Its stressful. Its hard for me to really type out how burdened I feel by this. I dont wanna feel guilty or disgusted for having that relationship ive always had with these people. Im not going to cover my face and body to somehow never see men again either. So idk what to do when half the population apparently cant see a woman and disconnect it from NSFW

The NSFW Communities On Social Media In General For Gay Men Have Officially Pissed Me Off (And So Has The Gay Dating Scene Altogether)

(Note: This is not calling any particular platform out, this is a generalised rant, more to the point.)

From my own experience, these places are just for attention and nothing more. If it's not someone promoting their damn OnlyFans, it's someone just looking for a quick hookup, and nothing else. Even when someone says they are looking for a relationship (or claim to be), and I outright clarify what i'm looking for, because i'm against hookup culture as a whole, they block me out of nowhere, without even explaining their weird behaviour.

The whole gay dating scene is just a complete cesspool at this point, and this is so sad, because nobody wants anything real anymore, when i'm just trying to build friendships, make connections, and just look for likeminded people. It's even worse when i'm a person on the Autism spectrum, because the same community will just be plain ableist, and cut us off, without even trying to get to know us first, because the disorder alone is a "dealbreaker", somehow.

I just avoid these places now, because it's nothing but attention whores and promotion for their OnlyFans now, that's it. It's absolutely infuriating to see. It's all transactional, without exception.

I had to rant about this, because i'm done pretending this behaviour is okay, because this is just pathetic. I'm just so pissed off about this.

"Just trying to help" means nothing if you aren't being respectful

"Trying to help" or "just trying to be nice" -- in the most INTRUSIVE way, with NO regard to whether someone will be comfortable with the situation -- is neither helpful or nice.

Just one example... No, we (kindly) do not accept your offer to babysit our week old son (who isn't even related to you...) and, by the way, you've told us horror stories from raising your own kids; why in the world would we leave our fresh newborn with you?? Alone?? And you have the audacity to...

  1. act confused about it, and

  2. put the onus on ME, totally postpartum, to mind your feelings, when your response to "😊 thank you but no thank you" is to get defensive and say "WeLL i wAs jUsT trYiNg tO be NicE"

Even before having a baby this is a hill I would die on lol. Maybe I'm a bit jaded, but I feel like you can absolutely tell when people only "help" in a superficial way to serve their own sense of purpose, or just flat-out have a chance to boss someone around -- e.g. "here, let me show you how to actually do this thing" when there's no objective right or wrong way to do it. Like, okay -- so it was really worth it to you to interrupt what someone was doing, and make them feel like something was wrong, when everything was fine??

I don't know if this is a generational thing or what -- maybe the issue with babysitting is -- but people are WAY too eager to assume the right to someone's time, property and responsibilities in the name of "being nice and trying to help."

And whether they're overstepping a boundary means nothing to them, because they can say WHATEVER they want of their intentions.
