AMA I'm Philipp Strasberg, a theoretical physicist, and I'm here with Scientific American to answer your questions about the possibility of a multiverse. Ask Me Anything on 10/27.
I'm Philipp Strasberg (proof), a theoretical physicist at the Cantabrian Institute of Physics and author of the recent Scientific American feature, Why We Probably Live in a Multiverse, where I explore the Many Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics and how recent experimental advances have renewed interest in this once-fringe theory.
On October 27 at 10 a.m. EDT, I’ll be answering your questions about quantum mechanics and the possibility of a multiverse in an AMA hosted by Scientific American.

doi.orgMedicine A monkey infected with an HIV-like virus has stayed virus-free for four years after a single shot of a new antibody that helps the immune system destroy the cells where the virus hides. Several other baby monkeys also stayed clear for months after their HIV drugs were stopped, in a small, new study.

Psychology A study using genetic, health and Fitbit data found that higher physical activity was associated with weaker links between genetic risk for depression and symptom severity. Both daily steps and moderate-to-vigorous exercise showed this pattern, suggesting activity may help buffer inherited risk.

Psychology Some people who can't picture things while awake still report seeing images in their dreams. A study of 205 adults found wide differences in how waking imagination and dream sensations lined up in people with aphantasia.
Neuroscience Autistic brains react less to being told "you're wrong," new study finds. People with autism showed weaker brain responses to negative feedback, and unlike others, their reactions didn't change with task difficulty, which may help explain why adapting to change feels harder.

Paleontology This week in PNAS Journal Club: Three fossils of Ice Age American “cheetahs” found in the Yukon Territory offer the first full genome for the species. These extinct big cats were closely related to pumas, and ate a diet high in nitrogen, suggesting their main prey was fish, probably salmon.
