I posted a month ago about this spider ive been feeding and she laid eggs and i think i got it on camera!!! This is her second eggsac actually.

say hi to Regina

Heres what i assume is a large mass of yellow eggs from the yellow garden spider i have been feeding lantern flys too out in long island in new york over the course of the end of summer and into the early fall. This is the second eggsac i have seen and this one i got to see in progress. I feel very lucky to have seen her a few hours ago seeming to spin a disclike mass of white. Then i watched it become three dimensional in browns. Now she has some yellow in the ovular shaped mass of brown and white, and im sure she will close it up to the elements in the next hour or so. Good luck, bro

I literally love black widows. They are absolutely beautiful and I hate that they have such a negative reputation. A sleek black spider with a red hourglass tramp stamp tattoo? Bro how metal is that.

One of my favorites, but seeing him run from under my bed as a sat to hit the hay was not cool. It's been unusually warm here in Michigan, but also very dry. But there's some light rain tonight so I put him by the woodpile and hopefully he gets his needed sips.

I think my flair is appropriate?! I don’t know if keeping him is a selfish death sentence.

ETA i released Sissy (Sisyphus) on to a plant outside, near a shed with a dirt floor and a crawl space above the car park. He turned around to say goodbye and scuttled into the plant 😭

I've been watching this gal for the last 4-5 months and named her "Lucy". She's been a very successful huntress (btw, wildly assuming Lucy is in fact a she) and it's been fun to see what she catches in her web. To clarify, Lucy lives on the outdoor side of my window of my apartment.

This morning was the first really cold day where I live and I went to check on her, she looked dead. I'm worried the cold is killing her, as it does this time of year. To my surprise, she is still moving a bit, but I do think she's on her way out because she's very much in the "dead spider" position. I can't see any egg sacs but I wonder if she's laid a few up on the top window panel where I can't see them.

I can't help but be sad. I know this is how it goes but it was fun having a wee spider pal. Lucy had a good, long, successful life for a spider.

The first photo is her today, and the second is one I took back in August. It's hard to tell how big she is, but she's a pretty good size buddy!

love the color of this spider….

Hey again Spiderfam! Listen, despite my best efforts I was unable to fix my wire error. I keep finding these things in my damn copper! It gets weirder still, they're supposed to have like 6 right?? Not just the one?? How concerned should I be?
