Community Content Paid research study - DVC Lab, Purdue University
Hello,
I am a PhD Student and Researcher at the DVC lab at Purdue University.
We are working on a research study investigating how data visualization practitioners work in real-world settings.
The study is remote, spans several weeks (~4–5 total hours), and offers $150 compensation upon full completion. The study is funded by the National Science Foundation (Award 2146228) and approved by the Purdue University IRB (protocol 2022-1273).
Participation involves:
- Phase 1 – Design Challenge (~90 min): A visualization design activity based on an open-ended dataset and prompt, where you'll share your thought process as you work.
- Phase 2 – Diary Study (~15 min/week for 6–8 weeks): Brief weekly reflections on your ongoing visualization work, completed at your convenience.
- Phase 3 – Interview (~90 min): A remote follow-up conversation to discuss your experiences and reflections.
Eligibility: early-career professionals in data visualization roles; ages 18–65; fluent in English.
