As the title states. First image is the tattoo, second is my sketch I provided as a reference. I expected the artist to maybe clean it up a little, but when she showed me the stencil, it was really thin and sparse looking. It looks like a poorly traced version of the sketch. I asked if she could add in more detail and vary the line weight a little to make it more accurate to the sketch. She’d add one or two lines, then show it to me again, I’d ask for a little more, rinse and repeat. I probably should’ve just cut my losses and gone somewhere else, but it’s my first tattoo, so I wasn’t feeling very confident while it was all happening. The head is what bothers me the most.
Can I go back once it’s healed and ask for more? Should I go find somebody else to fix it? I’ve wanted this for a long time and was really excited about it, and it feels like this isn’t it.
edit: I’m not upset with the artist, I’m aware that I was being a pushover and just should’ve gone somewhere else. I’m mostly just asking about what I can do to get something more like what I want.
edit 2: The conclusion I’m reaching is that the artist should’ve told me she couldn’t/wouldn’t do what I asked for, and I should’ve gone to somebody else. I’m frustrated with the choices I made, but there are far worse ways to blow ~$300 lol. Thanks to everybody who gave tactful advice. I’ll do my homework to find the right artist and communicate better next time. :)
