Question Difference in price between off peak tickets
Sometimes I commute via a somewhat local station. They used to offer a park and ride ticket which was about £12 with my rail card, and comparable enough in price to the £8 I paid for parking in the city but without the hour long drive, however they removed the park and ride ticket about a year ago and now parking and riding separately can cost up to £20 with my rail card during peak times.
Lately I’ve been traveling in on the train occasionally during off peak times, however I noticed that the off peak return ticket I purchase with a named time of 9:25 outbound is about £3 more per day than if I travelled at a named time of 11:25, however both tickets at the end of the transaction are just an “off peak day return”. Screenshots are from trainline but I’ve checked this on scotrail too and experience the same thing.
If I were to purchase the off peak return with an outbound at 11:25 as an off peak day return so I get it £3 cheaper, would I face issue using it earlier at 9:25 (which is still, by their definition, off peak)?
