Feedback MW4’s TTK is killing the pace of COD, even Shipment isn’t fun anymore

I genuinely don’t understand the decision to make the TTK this slow in MW4.

I get the argument for a higher TTK. It gives players more time to react and puts more emphasis on tracking and sustained accuracy. But at some point, those benefits come at the expense of what makes Call of Duty fun in the first place.

This is an IW COD, not a 3arc COD. I expect fast, responsive gunfights where weapons feel lethal and good aim, positioning, and reaction time are rewarded. Right now, too many engagements feel unnecessarily drawn out.
Here’s where I think the current TTK misses the mark:

1-Gunfights feel less rewarding. Landing your opening shots and tracking someone shouldn’t feel like you’re emptying half a magazine just to secure a kill.

2-It doesn’t eliminate camping. Does a higher TTK supposedly encourage movement? Because people are camping so hard that some streamers might as well be sponsored by Camping World. 😂 A longer TTK doesn’t stop people from holding angles, retreating behind cover, or relying on teammates. If anything, it can make aggressive pushes even more frustrating.

3-Hardcore feels too much like Core. When I’m consistently getting 5–10 assists in a single Hardcore match because I’m landing multiple shots without securing kills, something feels off. Hardcore should be a meaningfully more lethal experience. If I’m playing Hardcore, I shouldn’t feel like I’m shooting the same bullet sponges as Core.

4-Shipment has lost some of its appeal. Shipment is a fan favorite because of its constant engagements and hyper-fast pace. Spawn, fight, respawn, repeat. That’s the fun. A slower TTK disrupts that rhythm, turning quick, chaotic gunfights into drawn-out engagements. The map’s entire identity is built around speed, and the current TTK works against it.

5-The camo grind is more tedious. When you’re leveling weapons and grinding challenges, requiring more bullets per kill makes an already repetitive process even more frustrating.

I’m not saying a high TTK has no place in gaming. But what is it actually improving in MW4? If the goal is to reward accuracy, that makes sense. If the goal is to give players a chance to react, that’s fair, too. But those benefits need to outweigh the cost to the game’s pacing and weapon feel.
At this point, is Activision getting paid for every round of ammunition we fire? 😂 Some of these gunfights make it feel like somebody’s profiting every time we need another five bullets to finish an enemy.

Hardcore feels like what Core used to feel like, and Core should reward accuracy and reaction time without turning every gunfight into a bullet sponge simulator.
I want MW4 to be a great COD, but I think the current TTK is working against the fast-paced experience that makes this franchise special.

TL;DR: I understand the arguments for a higher TTK, but MW4’s feels excessive. Gunfights drag on, camping is still everywhere, Hardcore doesn’t feel lethal enough, and Shipment has lost its signature pace. Is Activision getting paid per bullet?

I don’t know what it is but every time I see it I know I’m in for a bad time. Not only does it play badly, but I also think it’s just an ugly looking map in general.

I had the opportunity to do an online Q&A with Jae Kim, the actor plays So Jae-Woo in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4.

I'll ask him the things the fans are curious about. If there's anything you'd like me to ask him, you can write it here!

I'm not gonna go ahead and say my aim was perfect here, but it was good enough to kill him at least. I mean shit, on my screen it showed me putting 4-5 shots in him before he even started shooting at me, and then I get melted. On his screen it showed him barely taking any damage until he had 3-4 shots in me. It's absurd. It feels like this happens every gun fight. And I feel like I've played enough MW3 over the past three years (skipping BO6 & BO7) to know that that shit ain't me and something is off. Something has gotta change.

Image Using Decoys and the DDOS field upgrade on shipment gives really good xp per game

Just throw your 2 decoys, one down the middle and one to the side that the enemy is spawning on and use your DDOS whenever it charges

For comparison, a normal game gives around 5K XP

Discussion Thoughts on Operators Tied to Create A Class

I’ve been enjoying the MP personally, but my only gripe is the lack of factions. It might just be a skill issue, but sometimes I have trouble distinguishing between teammates and enemies unless they have the red and blue icons above their heads. It doesn’t help when I get stunned and see 2–3 players with the same skins in the same area, since there’s no clear way to tell who’s friendly and who isn’t.
I really wish they had kept operator factions, as I feel like it would make distinguishing between enemies and friendlies a bit easier.
For those who play Hardcore (I haven’t tried HC yet), does this affect your experience much, or is it not really an issue? Am I unc?

Discussion From a 9-5 dad gamer..

Calm the fuck down on SBMM!

First day was fine because kills and deaths were traded. Some games I went positive, others negative. No harm done cause that's how CoD has been for me. I'm not the best player. My K/D was around 1.5 when I was at my peak during MW2/BO1 era.

This game just forces you to play against cracked up players as soon as you do well in just 1 or 2 games. I launched the game last night, and got 3 consistent lobbies where I couldn't even do anything against the players. They jumped, slid, did ballet, got a 10 from the judges and applause from the audience before killing me..

Seriously SBMM is killing the enjoyment for me

Once again SBMM ruins the experience.

When my wife plays alone she can go get a 15+ kill game and has fun consistently.

We party up and it’s super negative and she bails.

Bring back random lobbies for us gamer couples.

Edit: Apologies to all those that have taken offence at my complaint.
For the record we both enjoy the game and will continue solo, just a shame we can’t share a more balanced lobby.

Discussion Can they please stop making longshots a camo challenge?

The long shot camo challenges take the camo grind from somewhat enjoyable for whatever gun you’re doing to a completely unenjoyable experience. It brings the camo grind to a screeching halt for certain guns.

I could see maybe if you needed 10 longshots but 20 is annoying.

Maybe it was designed to slow you down a bit but it’s unbearable holding a lane for however long until you get a long shot.

Discussion I enjoy this multiplayer.

• Upvotes

Im 24, and when i was around 6, i discovered COD with the OG early 2000 series, COD 1-3, then discovered MW, Black ops etc. And by the OG MW3, thats when i started playing multiplayer on a regular basis.

Ive skipped alot of the newer COD’s, with only ever buying MW19, then Cold War for a few months, then i tried BO6 at launch, and by February it was full of sweats, like most ive ever seen in a COD from my 15 years of playing multiplayer.

And with MW4, im having a real good time ngl, yeah it is sweaty, but imo no were near how it was in BO6 ( for right now ) And tbh at a point, you just gotta adapt with the times. If this is how multiplayer is, thats how it is now. And with this multiplayer it was pretty easy to pick-up and not feel left behind, and are able to grow.

I eventually learned the ways people move around, hide, go-to, and its fun. I feel like some of the crying and hollering i hear about how its not like the OG games get to a point. Like i get it i REALLY do, but man, its not hard to learn. its different ik, but also, if its not for you anymore, thats okay.

Thats why also side thing, i hope we get more OG game remasters to satisfy those people and hell myself too, im still holding out hope we get an OG COD 1-3 remaster or remake.

but MW4 for me, is a good decent time.

Discussion I’ll go against the grain, I guess. I actually like these maps.

…when the whole lobby isn’t raw-dogging the asphalt.

in my experience at least, these maps really do play quite nicely when the lobby is actually playing normally and not farming for longshots. Coal specifically reminds me of older COD maps.

Coal feels surprisingly bigger than it looks, Munitions is just a straight up good map (especially for SND), and Reactor is a nice, more linear 3-lane change of pace.

most (not all… transit…) of the launch maps in general have a nice mix of sightlines, shortcuts, and flanks that help avoid feeling like 3-lane meat grinders. kind of surprised to see these maps getting a lot of hate on the sub.

Discussion MW4 has some of the worst spawns and map flow I've seen in a long time

The title says it all - the spawns in this game are seriously terrible and it feels like there's no flow to these maps

I can't hope to count the sheer number of times I've spawned very close to enemies, or directly in their sight lines, or across the map from my team, etc. Literally the last death I had in the match I just played, I spawned across the map from my team, ran forward a little bit, and got killed from the back by someone who was now behind me on the other side of the truck I spawned by (they weren't moving so there were no footsteps to hear and thus no way to know they were there). This kind of stuff happens ALL THE TIME in this game. It's nearly impossible to predict where I or the enemy team will spawn, even in objective modes. I forgot the name of that map that's on a ship at nighttime, but Hardpoint spawns on that map are some of the worst I've ever seen, with both teams literally spawning right next to or on top of each other by the hardpoints on each end of the map. In MW4 it usually feels like the enemy team could come from anywhere at any time because the positions of myself and my team seem to have little impact on where enemies and myself will spawn. This makes it feel like there's no flow to any of the maps and makes it feel very difficult to gain any form of map control, especially when combined with the dozen+ sight lines at any given point on a map

I can't even remember the last time I've died this much from behind or beside me in a single COD game. Even on what's supposed to be my side of the map, I rarely feel safe anywhere. I feel just as likely to spawn next to the enemy team as I do my own team. In other COD games I usually feel like I can check the minimap, look at my team's positioning, and reliably put my back to a certain part of a map or move through a certain area safely, but not in this game by any measure. I've been playing COD since COD4 and I can't recall the last time I've had this much trouble moving through and controlling maps and predicting where the enemy team will spawn

Surely I can't be the only one who's having this much trouble with the spawns and getting constantly killed from behind or the side.....

And I don't really care if anyone says skill issue because I've been playing COD for a very long time and I know this has absolutely nothing to do with skill, map knowledge, etc. It's a combination of terrible spawns, too many sight lines, and windows and doors everywhere. Further combine that with the issue that I've seen a lot of people online talking and sharing videos about where I'm somehow losing gunfights that should be nearly guaranteed to be winnable, and it makes MW4 among the most frustrating COD games to try and enjoy
